Psychedelische Klänge, Harte Gitarrenriffs und teils groovige, teils monotone Rhythmusparts - diese explosive musikalische Mischung zeichnet den Sound von Monster Magnet aus. Mit ihren Alben und spektakulären Live-Shows wurden sie zu Wegbereitern des Stoner Rock.
Monster Magnet kommen aus New Jersey und gehören seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1989 zu den wegbereitenden Stoner Rock-Bands. Anfang der Neunziger war ihr Sound noch sehr von Psychedelic Rock und Punk-Elementen beeinflusst, später wurde er wesentlich kompakter und eingängiger.
Mit dem Album "Dopes To Infinity" wurde die Band um Mastermind Dave Wyndorf Mitte der Neunziger auch hierzulande bekannt, 1998 folgte dann der internationale Superhit "Space Lord" aus dem Album "Powertrip". Die Band hat mittlerweile eine zweistellige Zahl an Alben auf dem Buckel, tourt um die Welt und macht immer wieder mit wilden Shows (u.a. mit Stripperinnen) von sich reden.

I do not agree, their first albums were great, Dopes till infinity is still one of my favorite albums ever. But i can’t stand Powertrip and Mastermind, there two albums lack the sense of fun and musical subtility of their predecessors. Since their Last patrol album they are back on the right track again, but their live concerts are not as exciting as in the early days.
Evere since I bought my first CD power trip when I was a kid, this is definitely one of my favorite bands. Still never got to see them live which makes me pretty sad
Dave mixed those classic psychedelic Hawkwind vibes with great songwriting and catchy hooks. Best thing a rock musician could do in the 90s...

I remember these guys in studio One in North Newark and I helped you guys at the end of the night put your studio equipment back on the trucks and then hung out with me and the tour bus for a little bit amazing gods and goddesses blessings

I heard MM for the first time 30 years ago in a basement apartment in Charleston. I couldn’t quite process what was happening, that was 1995ish and the album was “Spine of God” Time warp to 2024 and they still fucking crush. Love this band!!

Saw them open for Megadeth in 96' Never heard them and damn i was hooked ever since. They put on a fuckin hard rockin show I'll never forget. And started to hear them get airplay along with videos on mtv.

Killer set. I caught them way back in the early to mid 90's, opening for CoC. If memory serves, Dave was playing a Fender Strat and tossed it into the audience, cord still attached. That's fucking rock n roll.

It was in frankfurt, germany, Volksbildungsheim, genius location.
Dave comes on the stage and gets a big spliff, takes some deep puffs and started the Show.
