I think it's growing clear that game design, as a whole, has stagnated just as much as graphical fidelity has. With budgets ballooning, no one really wants to put the money into experimental game design anymore. I think it's quite telling when Demon's Souls 7, now effectively a parody of its original self, is what people point to as proof the AAA industry can still put out bangers.

The answer is gen Z. They love stuff like mediocre media and microtransactions and they cant keep focus for more than 2 minutes so they had to dumb it down every year even more.

If its politically correct its trash. Simple as that. Its the root of all the negatives in the industry. You would be hard pressed to find a "Right wing" game pre 2022 but you would be flooded by the leftwing games nonstop since 2008. It is 100% the left ruining games. From dei to messaging. Every aspect is infiltrated by their activism. This is coming from a centrist forced into the right since there is nowhere to go especially since the overton window has become so bad even the old leftist extremists of yester year are now the far right bogeyman too.

I think another issue is that the internet really hurt gaming more than it helped. First, particularly with AAA companies it darn near killing quality control. Developers used to have to make a game that was complete on release. If a game was overly glitchy or lacked content it would not sell well. Now that they have the ability to patch/add content posts release via the internet, they release unfinished games that they’ll only put the resources into fixing/finishing if the game manages to sell well despite being in a garbage state on release. Second, the internet gave them the option to get more money out of consumers after the initial purchase leading to content that would previously be part of the base game becoming DLC or micro transactions. In the worst cases it leads to gameplay being made intentionally worse to incentivize players to spend money. To be clear, the internet should have been a tool used for fixing the occasional issues that come up with making games. Instead the companies use it as a crutch/get out of jail free card.

It’s all just the person themselves in my opinion. Can/should the game developers be held accountable for not capturing its audience like intended? In a way, yes. But when all is said and done, personal enjoyment comes from you. And as someone who is struggling to come to terms with this, I speak from experience. I am personally enjoying playing the games I have. I just busy with my worries (like any other human). When all is said and done, there is more to life than just gaming. Regardless, personal enjoyment is you have to find for yourself.

Gaming isn’t providing new and unique experiences. They repeat and recycle and innovate in the wrong areas. Bethesda are one of the weirdest devs in the industry. Their games have diluted over the years and became less RPGs. The bigger they aim the worse they have got. Their narratives have never been good but for the most part they get gameplay, musical score and exploring right. They should never have made Starfield on creation engine. I see absolutely no benefit from using that engine besides it being easier to mod but that isn’t a gameplay feature. Who gives a fuck about being able to pick up every object in the world? I would rather be able to actually fly my ship around from planet to planet and land anywhere I got nothing positive to say about Neil Cuckman.

I hate this show as a kid. It was too dark and depressing for me at the time and so consistently. Adventure 01 & 02 had dark arcs but the entirety of tamers felt so gritty. I did not care for it as a kid, it made me very uncomfortable

Digimon can’t hold a candle to what Pokémon did with video games. We know that. As far as a watchable series? Pokémon fans gotta sit this one out. Go sit at the kiddie table lol it’s not close. Digimon also has the GOAT evolution style.

First of all…you get a sub for helping me get some childhood nostalgia closure on a show that I never got to finish. Secondly, this iteration of digimon is probably the concept I would most want to see reinvented as a video game. It’d be extremely relatable these days with modern technology and the emergence of AI. In my opinion what makes Tamers the best Season, is how serious they take it most of the time and they try to put some real thought into how the Digimon would interact with the real world and their connection. While Adventure introduced us to their world and gave everyone a Digidestined to see themselfs in, Tamers sure got a smaller cast but it makes up for it in the World building and Story. It took kids serious and tried to explain it all in a way that makes sense. I so hope we get a continuation or maybe something in the spirit of Tamers. Though I would say Applimon was just that. Digimon mixed with our current world, Smartphones, Apps and AI included.

Shoutout to TH-cam recommendations. I nostalgically love this series, and even the bad PS2 game with it.
