It physically hurts seeing so many cards I knew I had as a kid just lying around, likely long gone or destroyed by now, popping up for 100s of $$. That Pidgeot especially, first card I ever owned. Nice vid, and respect for the commitment to keeping the Original sealed packs.
Don't feel bad, even if it was a 1st edition, the fact that you had them as a child and played with them means they aren't worth more than, in the most extreme cases, a few hundred. Collectors want pristine never-touched-by-a-child condition.
What makes me scratch my head is that I have literally 300 common cards and not a single holo, I can't remember if I traded them away, lost them, had them stolen, or what. But they are nowhere to find, and with that amount of common cards, I should have something decent lying around, but no, I don't find it...

I have since recovered a memory that most of my cards came from those pre-made decks, that is why I only found two Hitmonchans and one Ninetales that was hidden away in a book. Everything else must have come from trades, and there was like 200 chinese knock off cards too.@@Saint-hamudi
remember that the prices shown here are just hypotheticals - if you were to grade a gem mint version of said card and actually find a buyer for it you could get 100s of dollars, but only then.

The fact that my generation of pokemon is now considered old school is pretty wild to hear lol, I'm still so used to it being cool and new since I took such a long break from Pokemon
Was a lot of fun seeing familiar cards again, really really cool video concept! ☺️
I collected the original cards (English and Japanese) in the late 90s and only recently got back in to it because of my nephew with Crown Zenith. It's funny to me how cards I got from the local game store for $3 a pack make him freak out. I would have never gotten back in to collecting if he hadn't asked about my old cards I just had sitting in binders and cases in a rubbermaid in my storage.
He gets excited about my old cards because of their value, I get excited about all the full arts he has from sets prior to me starting collecting again because we just didn't have those back then. I see the newer cards as works of art whereas the old ones just all kinda had the same general look. I'm happy that I have a lot of the very valuable ones though, and that I took care of them as a kid. When he saw my entire page of top-loader stored shadowless Charizards he damn near crapped himself.

BRO! I'm not even hugely into the collecting side of TCG (I just like the artwork) but seeing you open things from your own collection caused physical pain because it's clear how passionate you are about them. That earns you SO much respect from me.

My 10 year old daughter is so into Pokémon now and out of all the TH-cam channels she watches, this is by far my favorite. I’m 43 and never got into Pokémon as a kid but I love playing the game with my daughter and buying my own booster packs. She just turned 10 and got a TON of Pokémon cards. She gets so excited along with you my dude. We just had baby number 3 and I have been spending a lot of time at home and have probably watched more of you than anything else and I’m totally ok with that when I see how happy she is watching your videos. It’s awesome!! Keep up the great work!

Watching this took me back to Christmas in third grade when I got my first packs. They were ex frlg, and Crystal guardians. Even the common cards I loved because they were my first. And I still have a good chunk of them. To this day they remain some of my favorite cards in my collection.
Every time i watch these videos I want to start collecting again. The older generation cards are still so sick looking. Havent collected since tag team and unbroken bonds.

Awesome video. I have very fond memories of the EX era because thats when I started opening these packs. I used to collect when I was a kid but my mom sold all of my cards in a garage sale for $60. In my collection was the first edition base set charizard. Glad I made someone's day though! My favorite set was always EX deoxys though.

I love any vintage set. But the new 151 has definitely caught my eye. That art work is amazing. The hits seem very good. But really anything Pokémon related is amazing.

Absolutely loved watching this! Took me back to the day when I traded my entire collection of 1st gen to my best friend for a new skateboard deck I probably snapped a week later. I had the Charizard, Alakazam, Blastoise, etc. All shiny. I still remember thinking to myself how I couldn't believe my friend traded me a new skate deck for these cards. I reached out to him a couple years ago and he said he still had the cards and was debating selling them. He did. He bought a new house and I couldn't be happier for him. Obviously I am regretting it now, but at the time, my 14 year old self felt like the winner.

As a 44 year old guy who only bought the first booster set and the fossil one after that then stopped, this video is a treat to sell all the different packs since then.
Didn’t know about the short print run on Team Up, that explains why my gengar & mimikyu is so valuable now. Never wanna sell it though, it looks sweet on display

Heartgold Soulsilver Era + Call of Legends Era were the best in my opinion. Holos were still worth something, Prime cards were dope, the secret rares were awesome. And of course the card art quality and borders sealed the deal. If I had the money I'd rip those eras all day.
Same with the diamond and pearl era those eras were sooooo good 😭
My favorite set ever is holen phantoms, definitely some of he coolest cards in they set (in my opinion). To bad it’s super expensive, but watching you open it makes up for that! Congrats on 1 mil!!🥳

Those old blisters hit different than modern ones. Without the promos and coin they look cleaner.
My all time favorite set is definitely Fossil. I know it's not the most expensive, but it brings back so many memories. Thank you Poke Rev for the great content!

you never know with packs, those at 45:00 ish you said were handled, I once got cards from a sealed booster box, DA, that had pen marking on them. Sealed booster box from a store.

To be honest one of my favorite Pokémon sets is Breaking Point. I find it very nostalgic. No one ever opens them anymore and they still have a lot good cards inside.

Having to see you open up some of your own personal collection for the video was tough, unsure what my favourite pack is though but probably have to go with the 1999 base sets as that's what I used to collect, I can remember trading in my full set in a binder to some guy on the market for a few fossil packs when they first came out, but I try to block this memory 😂

This is the first time I've ever seen your channel and I'm happy it showed up in my recommended, in my opinion it's hard to find a Pokemon TCG TH-camr who is honest, entertaining, and genuinely cares about the hobby, and you are all three. Fossil has to be my favorite set, due to opening them with my dad & brother, when they first came out. We’d get a pack each, from the local mall, every other Friday, when we’d go out to eat as a family. Good times……

I think I actually had opened some of those 1st edition base sets too because I remember the packs, but I lost all those cards. Also they were way cheaper back in early 2000’s when I was collecting. I can’t wait to get back in this, it’s all about collectors memorabilia for me now😂💪🏼

I’m just recently getting into Pokémon but I would still have to say my favorite set of all time is either hidden fates from sun and moon or evolving skies just simply from the arts in those sets! Great video man I really enjoy watching them!
It’s sad that if I want to hunt really nice energy cards, I’d have to open up RSE era packs which are crazy expensive. I’ll probably buy them separately one day.
