I’m not gonna lie, the art on the $1 pack for all the cards was actually gorgeous, especially that dodrio card. That’s a Pokémon that doesn’t generally get a lot of love in its art.

I remember finding a 1st edition Charizard from the first packs that came out. One of those ones worth thousands & thousands. I traded it for a Gyrados & Hitmonchan

Looking through my mom's house, I found my old silver holographic Charizard and a somewhat nice looking Mew holographic. Both are damaged by me being young and using them a lot. I have, if I counted them correctly when I was young- around 2500 plus/minus cards.
The feeling of opening cards at that age will never be topped!

On my 10th birthday (in 2000), I was gifted 4 packs of 1st edition base set to open. In 1 of those packs, I pulled a 1st edition Charizard. It was worth around $150 at the time according to the Beckett pricing books. Sure wish I had that card today lol

I got one of the $5 packs that came with a coin and card and got a Mewtwo and Mew tag team GX that was worth $25 at the time. I got the pack just for fun and got that good of a pull.
The production of these cards is cheap af... They can ask what they want because ppl buy it anyways

I used to open heaps of those blastoise packs back in 1999 -2000 i was about 8 years old lol, my neighbor had about 3000 Pokémon card in pristine condition

I never got into pokemon's but I was into spiderman & marvel, both comics and cards, I still have my set from 1995 kept it all these years, all the special cards and the whole set , this energy of opening packs brings back memories of good times .. love it .. insane how much these packs cost now , I remember buying them for 2.95 to 5.95 a pack

I went to a store when i was a kid and bought 3 packs. They were 1st edition packs. I pulled a 1st edition venosour in the first pack, 2nd pack I pulled a 1st edition blastoiss and the 3rd pack was a 1st edition Charzard. My parents had no idea how happy I was.
