It was pretty much the only car I could get in less than 6 months, Toyota didn't have any stock whatsoever and couldn't even let me test drive. The performance issue isn't the engine but the CVT. It's not meant to be a sports car, very practical for a daily driver especially with the current costs of fuel. Also a 10 year/ 150K KMs warranty and capped price service. The engine has a timing chain and not a belt. I paid extra for the S-AWD (and here it was several thousand dollars extra), but well worth the extra cost... do not buy the 2WD if you still can.

With that price point, I'll go with Toyota. I had Lancer MX 2000 model. Few years later, it started a problem that no one can fix it. Even the dealership. However, I loved my car. Thanks for the video.
I agree with a lot of points in this video however I did wanna mention some thing. The eclipse never had a GSR trim its gst/x on the turbo versions. Also the eclipse cross as a 1.5 turbo engine not a naturally asperated version.
I love this Eclipse Cross so far. However, the only zonk that I have so far is that Mitsubishi stopped caring about the Eclipse after 2012 and won't bring it (nor the Evo) back to the US.
The upside for this make/model in my area is that there's only one dealer and they have 39 on the lot with $4,500 off MSRP. The Toyota dealer up the street has ZERO RAV4s.
@@alpinegh badge snobs. Bandwagoners. Higher end trims with more power and gimmicks. There are a few reasons. But neither is a bad car. People are spoiled for choice.
Great work Raiti's Ride!! I'm always gonna have a soft spot for Mitsubishi, 91' 3000GT was my dream car a classic! Ended up owning a 01' Galant dreams somewhat comes true lol loved that car! Was sad seeing Mitsubishi plummet for a while. Unfortunately, they may never get back to what they once were, Hyundai/Kia and Mazda just kept growing during the yrs Mitsubishi been M.I.A.
Same here about the soft spot and the 3000gt. The thing for me is there no dealership around me beside a 2hours drive. Not sure if it is worth the trouble buying one and have to travel that far for a simple work. But I heard this engine been around for awhile and been used. It mean reliability I suppose.
I miss the original Eclipse. Man i grew up in the Acura type R, eclipse days.. when these cars were considered rocket ships. Imagine a Type R (not the crap that came out recently) with 3-400 hp. Or a Eclipse with the same?
While the Eclipse Cross does not have the raw power of the older Eclipse Coupe, the Eclipse Cross is WAY more refined, so much quieter and smoother. The looks of the interior are actually quite nice, especially the top trim level (SEL with touring package). The SE trim with the 2 skylights also has a nice feel. Look online at pricing from car dealers in the Orlando area for some negotiating power
I love Mitsubishi. You'll find Mitsubishi parts in some surprising vehicles too (the headlights on my VW Touareg lol) and they're very reliable. I hope something like the GT3000 or Evo returns to pump sales so they can pull off a Mazda move and offer updated power trains or even a new model.
Nice presentation I live in Brazil and intend to buy an SUV for long trips on and off road. Compared to the Subaru Crosstrek 2023 Non-Hybrid, What is the best? More robust? Thanks
Eclipse Cross RALLIART vs the Toyota Corolla Cross GR because the Outlander competes with the Rav4, this competes with the Corolla Cross and the Crosstrek.
Check your specs. I'm on the Mitsu USA page right now and they say its a 1.5L Turbo engine not naturally aspirated. It makes more torque than the 2.4L engine thats in my car. Zonk!
Through rain, sleet or snow. Hellfire and brimstone. The reviews must get through. Nice going you two. I don't get this car. At least not for that money. Too many other choices. I don't need to list them. If it under cut them in price by 3-4k it would make more sense. But I'm glad they are trying and in the current market they will sell.
The eclipse cross is not meant to compete with the Rav 4 , it competes with the corolla cross. The Outlander competes with the Rav 4 The eclipse cross engine is turbo charged not naturally aspirated and it does 0-100 km in 8.6 seconds, which is quicker than the new Honda hrv as well as the corolla cross. The fog lights are integrated into the bumper below the head lights.
Mitsubishi makes great looking SUVs..... The Outlander is beautiful. They need to bring back the Galant and Eclipse cars but Niissan is making a grave mistake with this company.
Given that Nissan is still struggling to regain relevance after almost dying from a bad CEO and a worse CVT, you'll take what you can get. The chip/resource shortage doesn't help either.
It’s kinda like they designed and thought up this 1 in 2012 but still had it in their backlog of unbuilt projects and just really, really needed another model to reveal for this year. 😬😅
Joe I like you reviews great job . The rav 4 is my choice because the don't break down that much great gas mileage and the resale value is excellent. Toyota all day.
Have a 2018 Eclipse cross premium 4*4 replacement of air filter to a KNM air filter and and high performance spark plugs,95 octanes with additives got a top speed of 212 kilometers an hour
I have the exact same feeling as I owned a 98' Eclipse. This is a fraud to me and very upsetting that Mitsu would disrespect the Eclipse. That gear box and manual transmission was wonderful. They should have just started offering the Montero in the States and called it a day.
@@RaitisRides I was not on the Mitz bandwagon of using the hallowed Eclipse name on an econobox either, but think of the other manufacturers doing it. Dart, Nova, Regal, Mustang all come to mind.
The Eclipse Cross is the only Mitsu with a turbo engine. Because of the turbo, it is reminiscent of the old Eclipse. I have a 2009 Eclipse and a 2022 Eclipse Cross, and am not offended by the use of the name. The cross, while not having the same engine power as the old eclipse, can quickly go from 0-40.
@@666cemetaryslutbut the Eclipse Cross does have 184 #-ft of torque that kicks in at low rpm's. While one is not going to go up against a Camaro while driving an Eclipse Cross, it is a CUV that has more pep than one would expect for the horsepower.
Mitsubishi needs to work on their interior tech. That screen and OS seriously data the look of the interior and there is no reason in 2022/2023 to not have at least one USB-C charging port available (especially in one of their top trims). That gauge cluster also looks outdated.
I enjoy your reviews but I have one suggestion for you. Could you tell us how good the AC is in the vehicle? That is an important factor for those of us who live in a hot climate. I recently had a Mazda CX-5 for three weeks and the AC felt quite weak even set very low temperature and fan going full speed. I had planned on getting the Mazda, but now may have to rethink my vehicle choices. Thanks to you and Laurie for your great reviews.
@@87camro I'm looking for great AC since I live in the desert. I drove the CX5 for several weeks in desert heat between 105-110. It was bearable because of the ventilated seats. It's still on the short list
@@bbdarling182 the air-condition in the eclipse cross is reasonable, it gets really cold on full blast while driving, at idle speeds its just ok. I have noticed the rav 4 ac works better at idle . If you want a vehicle with cold ac at idle the rav 4 does very good. Idle is when the car is in drive and you are in traffic. Or just parked not driving. On a hot day in traffic you will really appreciate an ac system that works good at idle.
Not that this will make a difference but I’m on my 2nd CX-5 and and I have a 2018 Mazda 3 as well: I actually had my mom in my car and then my grandma recently and we are in San Antonio where it’s hot and humid. Both of them commented that the A/C was freezing them out. This was on my new Mazda CX-5. I agree it’s impressive. Maybe give Mazda a try again if that’s the only thing you don’t like. It’s a great vehicle still made in Japan and shipped over.
Wouldn’t this more closely compete with the Corolla Cross, while the Outlander would compete with the RAV4? Like the unique styling, but it’s hard to choose this over its competitors for the price.
Read the comments and a few people fuss about Mitsubishi, but what is wrong? This car looks good, and the interior also looks good. The infotainment is a bit dated, but that’s it. The interior is not outdated at all, and the outside is so good looking.
Not to mention 26 mpg highway out of a 1.5 liter engine in a compact SUV in 2023 is a joke. There are V6 engines in much larger/heavier vehicles than the eclipse cross that get better highway MPG's even with AWD and much better acceleration.
I do wish the highway mileage was better, but I do average 30 mpg highway driving with the FWD model from 2022. But getting 25mpg from local driving is nice
I notice when I compare this to a Mazda CX-5, tailgate wise, I prefer the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Much faster opening and closing. I don't miss where you can press the remote to open the trunk and throw everything in the trunk. That opening and closing the trunk is cool, Because I have bad experience with many car with electric lift gate. Motor gone bad, the button stop functioning. So I went with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, 10 years and the mechanic side of this car make it super easy to work on. But for Mazda, they are a little difficult.
Damn, I really wanted to like this. But a 1.5 liter engine, a CVT, and an outdated infotainment system. The exterior looks nice! But I'd rather drive a Trailblazer (which isn't super fast either) or a Mazda CX-5 over this anyday.
I’ve been asking since the early 2000s how in hell Mitsubishi is still in the business of making automobiles, aside from the Evo. The bright side is at least that Eclipse Cross doesn’t look like a modern Pontiac Aztek anymore, I guess.
i ordered a rav 4 in jan but wasnt going to get till late june, so cancelled it and got this, i was soooo impressed, i brought the car on sat pick it up friday, $15,000 cheaper and looks alot nicer
This competes with the Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V and the Taos, the power train is more than enough it has almost the same power and torque as the Taos and much much better than the Corolla Cross and the HR-V. The Outlander however competes with the Rav4 and the CX-5, I would choose this over the competition anyday, this has one of the most realible engine on sale today and is literally one of the easiest engine to work with.
That's where you're somewhat wrong. They make great vehicles. They screwed up in the 90s by giving auto loans to ANYONE, no matter what your credit was. So you'd see a bunch of 19yr olds driving Eclipse Turbo Sports cars, and of course they couldn't really afford them. So they screwed themselves.
It's been a while since the last time I heard about Mitsubishi. The front side reminds me to the Montero but I don´t feel the greatness and legacy of the brand.
As a South African I am considering this over Corrola Cross I hope the reliability is close. Toyotas and VWs are the riskiest cars here. Their parts are very hot on the streets.
I have a 2022 LE I love it it doesn’t have all the features but I did get it all black and I can’t wait to delete the chrome and get a better sound system
This should have good old school Mitsubishi reliability. Based on a revised platform all the kinks worked out over the many years and generations. Love the originality. Looks good and the AWD system should be good given Mitsubishi expertise.
Definitely not comparable to rav4 and crv, both of which cost 10k more where i am, not to mention at least a year wait. Its good enough for me though, put in 20k km already with no major issues. Minor things i noticed are the emergency breaking sometimes comes on when there is nothing in front, and whenever u switch tires, u gotta reset the tire monitoring system. Overall happy with the purchase.
Thanks for the review. I like the contrast of the black wheel-well surrounds. Monochrome body & wheel-well surround would be bland looking. The full color match of the bumper nacelles (top to bottom) necessitated the matching color rocker-panels. I think MItsubishi made the right color contrast choices, though the choice does look rather expensive for an economy class SUV. I wish they'd tweak/reduce the coefficient of drag without changing the overall look, to improve fuel economy. Mitsubishi's JDM styling of exterior & interior features are always a treat to see at this market level. They dare to be different, thank goodness.
They really need to bring Asian market top sellers to North America, bringing the Triton or Delica to NA with overlanding or/and off road spec would probably be popular
I've got the top of the line model in Australia... it's called the Eclipse Cross Exceed ...4WD ...it's got everything I need ... it looks heaps better than both the CX5 and RAV4 and the Honda CRV .... it has a 10 year /100,000 Km unconditional warranty . That's very handy ! It was ducted air con to the floor at the rear ... and twin sun roofs... I tested mine to see how long it took to get to 100Km/hour over three tests and I got 7.3~4 seconds using 98 RON gas ....
Hands down Rav 4 for me but it’s such a shame they’ve let the entire brand flush here I had a Mitsubishi Eclipse black on black convertible it was a fun car but I am afraid it was my last Mitsubishi but a great car and never gave me trouble

I like the value Mitsu brings for folks who don’t have a huge budget but still need a new vehicle
For 31k there are lots of options with a ton of more modern features. This car is extremely disappointing for a 2023 model.
@@borg111 most vehicles show off gimmicks this vehicle has everything you actually need plus real reliability for a better price.
@@borg111 how many of those options offer a 10yr warranty?
@@dnegel9546 Having a 10y warranty is good and that is also my point. If I'm going to have a car for 10 years, it need to have a good amount of quality features built-in for me to enjoy.
@borg111 say what you will about the interior amenities, the exterior is striking and unique. I can hardly tell Hondas, Toyotas, Hyundai, or KIAs CUVs apart anymore.
The base models suck, but the top trim always defeats the competition in features when you are talking about Toyota RAV4
Catching up on all the videos I've missed all week! Great review here Joe! Mitsubishi out here hanging on for dear life and I'm here for it! Keep doing your thing Mitsubishi! Update, refresh and redesign the entire fleet and things should turn around.
Great review Joe. Glad to hear you call 'em as you seen 'em. Speaking of which, that front end looks like a facelift that got stretched back too much.
Comparing an Eclipse Cross to a RAV4 is a rather interesting comparison.
He most likely did it as clickbait, imo
I love this Eclipse Cross so far.
However, the only zonk that I have so far is that Mitsubishi stopped caring about the Eclipse after 2012 and won't bring it (nor the Evo) back to the US.
Sadly ☹️
They would blow the world up with an EVO announcement
The upside for this make/model in my area is that there's only one dealer and they have 39 on the lot with $4,500 off MSRP. The Toyota dealer up the street has ZERO RAV4s.
There's a reason
None left at my dealerships.
@@alpinegh badge snobs. Bandwagoners. Higher end trims with more power and gimmicks. There are a few reasons. But neither is a bad car. People are spoiled for choice.
Nobody has more than 10 of anything. WhERE do you live?

I rented one before. They are pretty decent vehicles
This is a underrated brand!
Only to foreigner
1 year ago, I buy 23' Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
I miss the original Eclipse. Man i grew up in the Acura type R, eclipse days.. when these cars were considered rocket ships. Imagine a Type R (not the crap that came out recently) with 3-400 hp. Or a Eclipse with the same?
It’s definitely interesting Mitsubishi but the suv is not to bad I would be nice to have the power lift gate always enjoy your videos joe
new generation eclipse cross is looking sharp
I always was in love with the eclipse. It will never grow old for me . But I’m considering this one for me
While the Eclipse Cross does not have the raw power of the older Eclipse Coupe, the Eclipse Cross is WAY more refined, so much quieter and smoother. The looks of the interior are actually quite nice, especially the top trim level (SEL with touring package). The SE trim with the 2 skylights also has a nice feel. Look online at pricing from car dealers in the Orlando area for some negotiating power
That is some really good unbiased review I’ve seen. I’m looking into purchasing this vehicle next week and I’m glad I saw this video.
Rav4 all day! I love the exterior and that is it....Great review as always Joe. Good job Stephen. To The Door Panels Joe!!!!
Awesome Eclipse Cross I think it's nice but not perfect.
Wow!! This is my favorite Mitsubishi SUV.
Nice job with your content as always Joe.
You are awesome Jeremiah
I love Mitsubishi. You'll find Mitsubishi parts in some surprising vehicles too (the headlights on my VW Touareg lol) and they're very reliable. I hope something like the GT3000 or Evo returns to pump sales so they can pull off a Mazda move and offer updated power trains or even a new model.
Mitsubishi. When you're desperate for a car but everyone says no, you lease one of these and hope things are better in three years.
I planned to grab a used one as my second car but todays market has a change of plan.
My girlfriend had the original Mitsubishi eclipse back in the 90s very cool car when it came out👍🏽
Hey Raiti's Rides How Are You Can You Make The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport
Nice presentation
I live in Brazil and intend to buy an SUV for long trips on and off road.
Compared to the Subaru Crosstrek 2023 Non-Hybrid,
What is the best?
More robust?
Thanks
I haven’t seen a Mitsubishi in forever. I’m actually surprised they’re still around
I'd love to see an Eclipse Cross EVO vs a RAV4 GR.
I don’t want to see gthaty
Eclipse Cross RALLIART vs the Toyota Corolla Cross GR because the Outlander competes with the Rav4, this competes with the Corolla Cross and the Crosstrek.
Check your specs. I'm on the Mitsu USA page right now and they say its a 1.5L Turbo engine not naturally aspirated. It makes more torque than the 2.4L engine thats in my car. Zonk!
I feel like this CUV should be on a subcompact category…
Through rain, sleet or snow. Hellfire and brimstone. The reviews must get through. Nice going you two.
I don't get this car. At least not for that money. Too many other choices. I don't need to list them. If it under cut them in price by 3-4k it would make more sense. But I'm glad they are trying and in the current market they will sell.
The eclipse cross is not meant to compete with the Rav 4 , it competes with the corolla cross. The Outlander competes with the Rav 4
The eclipse cross engine is turbo charged not naturally aspirated and it does 0-100 km in 8.6 seconds, which is quicker than the new Honda hrv as well as the corolla cross.
The fog lights are integrated into the bumper below the head lights.
Thanks for your great thoughts!
@@RaitisRides wonderful channel and great content
Mitsubishi makes great looking SUVs..... The Outlander is beautiful. They need to bring back the Galant and Eclipse cars but Niissan is making a grave mistake with this company.
Given that Nissan is still struggling to regain relevance after almost dying from a bad CEO and a worse CVT, you'll take what you can get. The chip/resource shortage doesn't help either.
@@Traysandor There is an ocean of Ford trucks by my house waiting on chips from the Ford plant. Acres and acres.
I have a 22 one l love it
Just bought a 2023 lightning blue so far everything’s pretty good. YesI wish I had a little more power but that’s not what I bought it for.
It’s kinda like they designed and thought up this 1 in 2012 but still had it in their backlog of unbuilt projects and just really, really needed another model to reveal for this year. 😬😅
I was thought these looked a little upside especially since the nose and tail was redone. This color looks amazing btw.
It is crazy what has happened Karen!
@@nightdrive2646 150hp is low by todays standards, turbo or not. The 1990 Eclipse turbo had 200.
@@666cemetaryslutbut the Eclipse Cross does have 184 #-ft of torque that kicks in at low rpm's. While one is not going to go up against a Camaro while driving an Eclipse Cross, it is a CUV that has more pep than one would expect for the horsepower.
Great video love the look of that Mitsubishi Cross.. but it's 1.5T. 🙂
Mitsubishi needs to work on their interior tech. That screen and OS seriously data the look of the interior and there is no reason in 2022/2023 to not have at least one USB-C charging port available (especially in one of their top trims). That gauge cluster also looks outdated.
You hit the nail on the head Jason.
I own one the ac is cold when on full blast not the greatest but not horrible
@@warcrabcyber9908 Thanks. The rav is also on my short list
Before ice engines stop production. @mitsubitshimotors should make an eclipse with a nice turbo charged engined on it and a sweet DCT
Wouldn’t this more closely compete with the Corolla Cross, while the Outlander would compete with the RAV4? Like the unique styling, but it’s hard to choose this over its competitors for the price.
True. Both the Eclipse Cross and Corolla Cross are derivatives of their car counterparts, while the Outlander and RAV4 are SUVs to begin with.
No… the outlander is 3rd row and a decent size bigger then rav4
@@carlotlife5013 Outlander is still classified as "compact", though.
The Outlander Sport is the competitor to the Rav4
I thought that the Outlander was Mitsubishi’s version of the Nissan Rogue, which competes with the RAV4.
Read the comments and a few people fuss about Mitsubishi, but what is wrong? This car looks good, and the interior also looks good. The infotainment is a bit dated, but that’s it. The interior is not outdated at all, and the outside is so good looking.
I like the way they look. Really wish they had more Horse Power. 152 HP is kind of a deal breaker for me.
Does that shifter have a button? Can't see
LOVE IT! ❤️
I’m so glad that you like it!
Didn't know Mitsubishi still make cars. I never see their cars on the road anymore.
This certainly seems like a mixed bag of nuts in terms of tech and ammenities. Hope they can build and improve from this model in future years.
No ,no no no way $ 31,000 for this , Mitsubishi need to bring back the Montero SUV the big boy .
Eclipse is better than the other👍🏻
Not so sure About Mitsubishi.. They haven’t gained my trust yet..
They may never!
@@RaitisRides you got that right. I feel like they are a D lister brand
@@chrisrob722 perfect way to put it
That's where you're somewhat wrong. They make great vehicles. They screwed up in the 90s by giving auto loans to ANYONE, no matter what your credit was. So you'd see a bunch of 19yr olds driving Eclipse Turbo Sports cars, and of course they couldn't really afford them. So they screwed themselves.
@@joeb2588 Mitsu and Nissan = JUNK! You spend your money on that junk, smart people buy Honda or Toyota, and keep them 15-20 years.
Best Mitsubishi but I miss the original Eclipse
It's been a while since the last time I heard about Mitsubishi. The front side reminds me to the Montero but I don´t feel the greatness and legacy of the brand.
it's direct injection and they do offer sunroofs for lower trims as well. there's also a different wing.

Props to Joe and crew for boiling out there to get us this review! You could see the lbs melting off haha!
Love the way he explained everything
As a South African I am considering this over Corrola Cross I hope the reliability is close. Toyotas and VWs are the riskiest cars here. Their parts are very hot on the streets.

J ~ around town I've not seen a brand new Mitsubishi AT ALL. I literally forgot they still made cars, etc. Tony Macaroni
Trust me I forget about them as well
This should have good old school Mitsubishi reliability.
The breaking is coming on only with Adaptive Cruise Control- activated . I use regular cruise control ( hold cruise control button down for 2-3 sec).
Love the outside - very disappointed in the interior - thx for the review - Cheers
You are so very welcome! I am so glad that I can share it with you!
They really need to bring Asian market top sellers to North America, bringing the Triton or Delica to NA with overlanding or/and off road spec would probably be popular
