    My coworker drives a Jeep Compass with 20,000 miles on it. She’s been stuck on the side of the road several times because of some microchip malfunctioning, making the car act like it has transmission problems, so thanks for the suggestion, but no to Jeeps for me. Mitsubishi’s 100K/10yr warranty is starting to sound good!

    Having owned (2) of these over the last 9 years (2011 intro'd Outlander Sport platform). Both have outperformed virtually every other marque in around town driving. This Mitsu is 90% and the other 10% is almost inconsequential. FYI, 400,000 miles without a single expensive repair bill. Windows, electronics, everything just works. Sure, it's light & massively underpowered, yet- the lack of power is only noted merging on highway ramps. Surely, that is less LESS than 10% of the time? If you like the benefit of technology, but don't want to pay for a certain badge on your grill- this is your answer. Long lasting, robust & reliable- dependable in a daily driver sort of way. If you are a bells & whistles driver- you can accommodate your wants & have the same reliability- Really!

    People act like hill descent control gives your vehicle lower gears or better brakes suddenly.
    Put it in the lowest gear you have, and cover the brake pedal.
    The ABS system in your vehicle always wants to keep you in a straight line anyway, the only thing hill descent control does is downshift and apply the brakes for you, and make you feel all warm and fuzzy that your vehicle is suddenly more capable.

    First off, Love this review, and the channel in general. Clear information and a great showing of everything a potential buyer would want to know, and really appreciate the effort that was put into this and all other review videos. However, I would like to point out that the off road portion of the test should be taken with a grain of salt.
    The factory A/S tires (Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422's) on the Eclipse Cross are designed primarily for fuel efficiency, comfort, and long tread life. They downright suck off-road, especially when compared to factory A/T tires like the Geolander's on the Outback Wilderness or the Falken Wildtrek's found on the Jeep Compass Trailhawk. My partner owns a 2022 Eclipse Cross and we've mounted a set of Falken Wildtrek's for our camping trips. It is far and away better off-road now, the S-AWC system really comes into it's own with proper tread mounted.
    I don't mean in anyway to bash the video, I really do love these reviews, it's just personal experience shows that the 4WD system isn't the weak link, it's the tires themselves, I'm actually surprised how well it did considering the wet conditions. They were probably the most mediocre aspect of the vehicle to be honest (that and the piano black interior bits that scratch is you look at them wrong. Everybody from Mazda to Mercedes has those bits though, so can't complain too much). Otherwise, loving the vehicle and can't wait for the next review!

    • @randalmcmurphy9237
      @randalmcmurphy9237 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good point. I also have a 22 Eclipse Cross and the AWD system is really robust and calibrated well, especially when compared to other other brands. I'll be switching out my tires to Michelin Cross Climate 2s, very soon.

      I mean Ford did it with the Mustang Mach-e, so why can't Mitsubishi...and other automakers for that matter, playing off a known name on a different body style, why not if it sells.

    • @SweetDennyD
      @SweetDennyD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! And had Mitsubishi named it anything else, it probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the attention it has. The hatred about the name is beyond ridiculous. Wonder if they'll behave the same about Toyota's Corolla Cross? LOL.

    • @SlowRollaAE82
      @SlowRollaAE82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I might be totally wrong here, but the Eclipse cross was one of, if not the first to revive a nameplate with a totally different vehicle. Maybe that's why there was a lot less negativity with the newer vehicles.
      Based on reviews, it seems the mach-e drives like a pony car so they did well there.
      As far as the Corolla cross, it's a (relatively) inexpensive, compact, and (assuming) long lasting appliance that's a crossover. Putting the Corolla name on it kinda makes sense.

    • @scott8919
      @scott8919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SlowRollaAE82 Well they did make a Corolla wagon in the 80's, so really nothing spectacular that they finally brought it back as what is now known as a crossover 30+ years later LOL. They used to have a Toyota Corolla Deluxe All Trac which back then was 4WD....so no surprise they use the Corolla for the Corolla Cross platform, its a good size car for that cross over.

    Im an Australian, and Mitsubishi has been well established for over 50 years with dealerships everywhere. My wife and i are in our early sixties and traditionally drove sedans. We bought Exceed (sel) and honestly cannot fault our 2023 model . No issues after 16,000 klm ( 10,000 m ) and what we appreciate most is the safety equipment. I prefer non acting steering because if you are trying to miss a pothole or obstacle, it doesn't drive you back into it. Not concerned with 10inch displays or lavish interior, to us simplicity is the attraction. Power is more than adequate, we do not want sports car acceleration. S AWC has been great in the wet and all off road driving has been handled with ease, looking forward to fitting appropriate tyres in future. Our model does have electric tailgate which we like. Done with kids and grandchildren its size is perfect. Ten year warranty is a no-brainer. I would definitely recommend particularly to seniors, not too big to park or maintain. We looked at Outlander but did not require 7 seats or the latest tech etc. Love our Mitsubishi Eclipse.

    Mitsubishi is missing so many great ideas. A galant cross vr-4 (a turbo-hybrid wagon w/S-awc), a new montero/montero sport that reside above the oitlandee. I know all of that Federalizarion money (millions), but Mitsubishi can't survive in N. America, even with Nissan/Renault money. Even if Mitsu did all SUVs (and wagons), they could pick up more market share...they need a mid-size truck too

      @@drivingsports Great video, but I strongly disagree. What matters is longterm reliability. The Eclipse Cross comes with the exact same trouble prone JATCO CVT8 as the Rogue. Granted, Mitsubishi INVECS III CVT programming seems to be much more reliable than Nissan's Xtronic programming, but reliability is still a major concern. That's one thing that baffles me about many auto writers such as yourself, no one mentions hardly anything about the notorious JATCO CVTs when reviewing a Nissan or Mitsubishi? Are you afraid of libel lawsuits or never being offered another test car to film with? Where's the data showing the % of Nissans over 200k miles still on their original CVT???

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kylemas2005 Reliability is just not something we can test in the short time we have the vehicles. It's beyond the scope of our reviews. Our focus is on features and on/off road impressions. Others, such as Consumer Reports are much better suited to reporting on reliability issues, and should be part of any buying decision.

    • @kylemas2005
      @kylemas2005 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drivingsports True, but your also driving a vehicle that has a 15 year old transmission in it. A transmission that has well documented reliability issues. I think you know this however and yet choose to not include this in your video? My question in why? For an advocate for consumers, it might make sense to point out a massive powertrain liability such as telling your audience yes, its a JATCO CVT, and no your not likely to get 200k miles out of it like you would an AISIN designed CVT. This is a big deal for consumers who can't afford to trade in @ 100k miles. There's not an auto journalist out there that doesn't know these JATCO units simply don't last and yet they say nothing to protect their access to manufacturers. Journalistic integrity should include full disclosures.
      For years nothing was said from journalists about Ford's dangerous, dry dual clutch transmission until there was a massive lawsuit. So I ask again, why?
