I have a 2018 WRX that had a squeak around the seatbelt buckle area for a couple of years. I learned about the wave washer technician bulletin a couple of weeks ago and ordered the redesigned wave washer that goes between the post and the seatbelt buckle arm. I was pretty skeptical because the squeak sounded bigger than just one little washer. After removing the seat and the seatbelt buckle arm I found that it already had the new washer 🙄. However, it didn’t have any lubricant and it was pretty obvious where it was squeaking because the washer was burnished in a couple of spots. I bought it used so I don’t know who did the replacement. So I don’t know if the grease wore away or if it never had any. I installed a new wave washer and applied a generous amount of lithium grease everywhere except for the threads on post. So far it seems to have done the trick. 🤞🏼
2020 OB premium. Purchased with 80 miles. now has 5800 and I had a rear noise so got the right pillar B replaced. Now I have the seat squeaking noise 3-2 times a week from the rear right side. Heading to the dealer tomorrow TBD.
Had the same issue two years after purchasing it brand new, replaced IW after pushing a lot dealer and Subaru subsidiary in Spain, and, two years after, same issue again (OOW, currently expecting quotation from service company). Unit sold in Spain (not SOA). Havent seen it reported in EU forums tho. I guess components are the same as the units assembled in Japan factory. It starts as a crack and some weeks later it becomes a squeak as in the video, but at first it sounds more like a loose welding.
I had almost the exact same problem. I brought my 2018 Outback in to have the bottom seat frame replaced 8 months after purchasing the car. Today, Nov 12, 2020 I had to repeat the process The dealer told me it is a known design defect. So why hasn't Subaru fixed this design defect?
My 2017 forester does this squeak too. I think it has to do with the driver side seat belt buckle. I feel it kind of rubs the Center console for some reason and makes the squeaking noise.

My 2018 outback 3.6 squeaks the same. Anytime I hit a bump it's the "same-old-song". 😅😢
