For those with 2018 WRX, place key in [ON] position. Once switched to [ON], you have 30 seconds to get 20 buckle/unbuckles. Just insert the clip, push the button, and quickly insert again (repeat x20). After you get 20 clicks, turn the car [OFF] then insert the seatbelt into the receptacle. Start your car and wait a few seconds. Unbuckle your seatbelt, and the light/chime will remain off until you ever disconect your battery. Repeat this process for passenger seatbelt if desired. The important thing to note here is for the 2018 WRX, [ACC] mode doesn't work. It needs to be in [ON]. Thanks for posting this video btw!

That's weird, I have a 2014 Impreza and it only bongs at me when driving over 10kph, although if there's so much as my phone resting on the passenger seat the weight sensor is so sensitive that it'll register that as someone being there so I can't leave anything on that seat while I'm driving without that damned bonging. I've only owned the car 4 days and thanks to your video I got it turned off. I always wear my seatbelt and don't need an intrusive notification to tell me to wear it.
It chimes if there is a heavy enough weight in the front passenger seat 😅. Im like stop with the parent nonsense. Obviously yes wear your seat belt! Physics, that's why! But, grrrrrr! Sometimes some of us drive on private roads where a seatbelt isn't that necessary if your getting in and out of your car a lot. In my case its a big horse farm, or around a lake. Im disabling the safety stuff on my wash machine too! 😅😅😅 Twenty angry times! 😅 Thanks!
You're the one that can answer this Others have said if you disconnect the battery it resets it. Which is fine incase we need to. Others also say then you can not do the trick to stop it again.. share your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance Oh just want to clarify the light stays off too ??
If I removed the passenger seat.... does this work? My understanding is that I have to disconnect the battery for 20 min. BEFORE disconnecting the air bag plug. So then disconnect the seat belt plug. Then do your trick??? Any help on this would be appreciated. I will not be reinstalling the passenger seat for a few weeks. REALLY hope I don't have to listen to the beeping!! Thanks
Lol, I love the frustration in this guys voice. Also, I just did this and it works!!! Thank you! I really wanted to trade the car in after only 2 months of driving this car…. And it’s not even mine. It’s my wife’s I’m hardly in this car.
Please help. I have tried this so many times. It’s not working. Does this no longer work on 2023 Outbacks? Do i need a parking brake on? When I try to turn it off from accessory mode it turns on- not off, but doesn’t start the engine. Should I do something different at that step?
You legit saved my sanity!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. Also find it funny that’s the way to turn the beeping off with all this high tech stuff from Subaru …let’s unbuckle 20x fast 🤪. LOVE it. Thanks again!
So I performed this on just the drivers side and it worked perfectly for both front seats. However the back seats still chime and the chime is sort of intermittent and odd sounding. Do I need to perform the same procedure for the back seats? Thank you by the way........ huge improvement.
Thank you! So annoying!! Just driving to my mailbox down my 0.15 mile driveway and it chimes SO LOUD. Not anymore since I followed your instructions! Thanks man!
Thanks! This worked brilliantly for the front seat - but it doesn't seem to apply to the backseat. Any additional tips here? The empty carseat triggers the seatbelt and it is killing me!
This was one of my favorite mods on my 07 Impreza lol. The chime drove me crazy if all I was doing was putting in a new radio or speakers or something, definitely worth it. Just have to do it again if you unhook the battery which is no big deal
It works. You're my hero. FYI though, the peeping stopped but my seat belt light stays on. Follow-up question, do you know if I have to do the same thing on the passenger my dog sets it off.
I have a 2018 suburb legacy and it drives me insane . So accessory mode, buckel and unbuckle 20x turn on and it won't do it again? Is accessory mode just turn the key but not start?: Sorry I'm slow
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have a '22 Forester. I followed your directions, & it doesn't chime when I'm not moving. But it still does when I move. I have many appointments where I have to key a code in at the gate for access & I still have to rebuckle.
My wife loves her Subaru. But the persistent and constantly louder seatbelt chime has made me want to trade in this two month old car. I don’t drive without a seatbelt. Except for when I’m maneuvering around in a parking lot, or driveway. I hate this chime. Thanks for the video. I hope this is real.
? Huh? I need to find this because since owning this Outback for a month I've had countless times wondering "Is this car really turned off? Will I drain the battery?". I'll walk back and forth several times checking in on the car
I did this, but the downside is that it still chimes a couple times at start up. I like to start the engine first to let the fluids start moving and warming up as I buckle. I wonder if I can just unplug the sensor on the seat belt, or if there is an unintended consequence of this.

I've only owned the car 4 days and thanks to your video I got it turned off. I always wear my seatbelt and don't need an intrusive notification to tell me to wear it.
Just got your same Outback a few days ago. I hope I'm successful with this trick as it's driving me insane
@@kippywylie works for the front but not the back i believe
Thank you so much for eliminating my daily headaches!
I can’t believe this stupid method actually worked. I felt like an idiot doing this. Thumbs up for you sir!
Do you know if the air bag system is still active when using the seat belts properly? I hope so. How about the back and passenger seats?
Does this work for the back seats as well? I did it for the driver's seat and it also disabled the front passenger seat...bonus!
So, based on what I'm reading, it looks like this procedure is on a per-seat basis and not applicable to all seats once you do it to one, right?
It chimes if there is a heavy enough weight in the front passenger seat 😅. Im like stop with the parent nonsense. Obviously yes wear your seat belt! Physics, that's why! But, grrrrrr! Sometimes some of us drive on private roads where a seatbelt isn't that necessary if your getting in and out of your car a lot. In my case its a big horse farm, or around a lake.
Im disabling the safety stuff on my wash machine too!
😅😅😅 Twenty angry times! 😅
Thanks!
You're the one that can answer this
Others have said if you disconnect the battery it resets it. Which is fine incase we need to. Others also say then you can not do the trick to stop it again.. share your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance
Oh just want to clarify the light stays off too ??
Tried this on my 2022 Forester Wilderness. Twice. Didn’t work. Ideas?
Does this deactivate all the chimes for all the seatbelts or just the front driver's seat? My dog keeps triggering the backseat one
So just purchased 2019 outback, I'm so now so much happier! Thank you
Does this disable the backseat chime as well? My dog sets it off randomly and it drives me absolutely insane.
I have severe alarmaphobia. You added years to my life. THANK YOU
I really thought this was a troll video when you started jabbing the hell out of that belt buckle
😅😅😅😅
Worked first time (2022 Forester). Perfect for those mailbox drops every day now, thank you!
Thanks man!
2024 outback works! That thing was so annoying!!!
You have to make sure you put seatbelt in and out all the way in and out when buckle great video bro thanks
Give this man an award! He saved me from going level 2007 Britney!
Does this work on every seat in the car or just the seat you’re in?
Thanks for the great video. My wife and I love not hearing the alarms after getting the mail.
This trick worked on my last car but isn’t working on my ‘24 wilderness. Got any suggestions???
How do you stop the radio from turning on when you start the car? Even when I have it off it always turns on when ignited.
im curious Is there a limit to how much time you have to finish doing the 20 times unclicking the seatbelt ?
The seatbelt alarm was driving me crazy. Thank you for the solution!!!
Thanks! This worked brilliantly for the front seat - but it doesn't seem to apply to the backseat. Any additional tips here? The empty carseat triggers the seatbelt and it is killing me!
Unfortunately I don't know a fix for that one 😭
You need to close the circuit of the cable that goes to the belt.
@@TheSuperBoyProject can you provide instructions on how to do that?
This was one of my favorite mods on my 07 Impreza lol. The chime drove me crazy if all I was doing was putting in a new radio or speakers or something, definitely worth it. Just have to do it again if you unhook the battery which is no big deal
This worked for my 2022 Forester Touring with one modification. Don't turn the engine off after buckling 20 times. Just turn it on immediately. Fixed!
Literally solved one of my biggest life problems in 30s 🙏 thanks
Yeah me too in my 23 brz. I've tried multiple times in both accessory and ignition mode. So frustrating.
Now I just need to get rid of that chime when I get in my car and turn it on😤 NO SUBARU I DO NOT need an alert when I'm parked and have my door open
Push the door sensor on the frame when the doors open and it will turn it off 🤙
? Huh? I need to find this because since owning this Outback for a month I've had countless times wondering "Is this car really turned off? Will I drain the battery?". I'll walk back and forth several times checking in on the car
Bro, if you're ever in mid-Michigan, your beer is on me!
I did this, but the downside is that it still chimes a couple times at start up. I like to start the engine first to let the fluids start moving and warming up as I buckle. I wonder if I can just unplug the sensor on the seat belt, or if there is an unintended consequence of this.
You are Awesome! Thank you FTLOG! Sitting in car attempting to get the display stuff figured out and unless I wear my seatbelt in PARK it just kept chiming!! 23' Outback Onyx XT
Does this work if you have aftermarket seat (espeically the passenger)?
Thank goodness my 2023 Forester comes equipped with an on/off button icon for this feature. It's overhead in front of sunglass holder. I just looked it up in the manual. Whether previous models come so equipped, I can't say. Beats disabling the wires, which, who knows what that else that does? Otherwise, this guy's got a pretty good solution, I reckon? Until you turn the car off and back on again, and it starts over again? Maybe? IDK.
I tow my dogs around and the seatbelt alarm is god awful. If I do this for the drivers seat, do I have to do it in the rear seats as well?
