The grenade FAQ doesn't affect the mutants, because for them the frag grenades are wargear, not equipment! Note how it's baked into the datasheet and not the usual "equipped with grenades for free". That's _spicy_.
We also don't have the rules for what wargear they can take. Perhaps it's the grenade as their ranged option (and limb for the melee) OR the heavy melee weapon.
This is great new! We are getting spoiled by all this content. Also side note: my interpretation of the statement "including special operatives not previously available to their factions" references the changes to these teams from their compendium iteration to their white dwarf update, for all the casual players that don't keep up with everything and play out of compendium for the most part.
I agree, that was my interpretation as well. Though I wouldn't complain if it was brand new operatives! I still feel bad for the factions with only compendium teams though. It would be nice to see another WD team on the horizon (on in this book).
I have to go with Glass Interpretation, though yours is possible as well. But any Addition I See Like a new unit for an Army in an Army Game, there new Units are added all the time, so I Just Hope they don't make them so important that the Team without the addition doesn't Work out any more

Actually not convinced that e.g. Warpcoven in annual will have new stuff compared to white dwarf, it's probably just comparing it to Compendium to make it sound exciting for marketing purposes.
On one hand Warpcoven really needs some help (reworking rubrics maybe?) on the other hand GW doesn't like to admit that they have undervalued a tricky faction. Sadly I don't think we're getting anything
They miiiight be referring to the models available in the white dwarf teams that weren't available in the compendium versions of those factions...? Reason I think this might be the case is BECAUSE of the data sheets they included (also because it would be pretty bold for them to change what they published in the old white dwarf publications...)
On July 19th, WarCom had an article about “picking the right operatives for the kill zone”, which gave examples of teams which would perform well in different Nachmund missions. They referenced the Wyrmblade team on one, with a picture of a Primus (NOT one of the Cult Agents in that team at the time). I’m almost positive the Primus gets added to Wyrmblade in the Annual.
As I cannot be assed to buy the White Dwarf I am basically always waiting for the Annual as I am not in any particular rush. Cannot say I am surprised that they put extra stuff in there - either they have done it before or if they didn't it feels like they have because we all know Geedub.
I'd really love to be able to field the blade guard again.. they were quite nice for the four or so months that they were in the game between 1.0 and 2.0
Do you think these "extra models" for WD kill teams could be special character models? Like a Tech Priest or Infernal Master? On another note, bought the Compendium, bought the WD issues, ... my arsehole feels thoroughly stretched now the annual will have more content.
That sounds like decent value. If they include the box release teams in the book though, I'll be pretty surprised. It's possible they're holding out to get more sales before this book comes out, but I really would have expected to see mention of it in this article if that was the plan.
Great I hope they bring in generic melee traitor guardsmen warriors that were missing in the bloodied list. Also introduce subfaction abilities to existing factions (like the intercessor team has) P.S All rules are free if you know where to look :p

Hay, I’m not a meta chaser. I play clowns from their first stand alone. And I never played the 9 voids. I do find the annual interesting, I hope it will be.
I wonder how this is going to be 152 pages long. With each having around 15 pages of rules, we are getting 6 teams. This would mean that a solid 3/5 of the annual are the white dwarf teams, being accompanied by 15 missions (probably on 1 page each) filled around by fluff and photos. All of this probably occupies around 100-110 pages. The other 40 what should contain? Compandium teams?
im not getting the impression that compendium teams are getting updated, didnt say that in the article. Since they sell the box set team books already i doubt those will be in there too. They didnt say in the article that box kill teams are in it.
No need to not own the Hunter Clade - WD 472 is still around. In fact, I have an extra one, but shipping from the US is probably more expensive than full price from some local magazine seller.
I get the feeling it's only compendium plus + whitedwarf, and rogue trader. But no moroch, nachmund, chalnath ... etc. If they do not include the team from the other boxes I will NOT buy this warmed up compendium.
IDK why they are releasing a new compendium when we're still waiting on bespoke kill teams for so many of the xenos like sure genestealer can just get over it and play wyrmblade but what about necrons ???
WD lists get new operatives but the "forgotten" teams in the compendium keeps being ignored. I just want to play with my battle sisters and not auto-lose most of the time, is it too hard to ask?
I Have faith we will someday be reworked. With Intercessors, Starstriders and Gallowpox out of way, our chances improved. Figure 3 Into dark box teams and 4 WD teams (if they hold last years number) to potentially get some love.
I will never be mad about GW adding in more models that should have been there from the beginning. I will be mad about constant trickle out. The game is mature enough now that it's time to release all the possible things! (I'm looking at your Wracks...)
I read this line, "Each places forces from Warhammer 40,000 into Kill Team in exciting new ways, including special operatives not previously available to their factions," as most others have to mean that there are NOT any new operatives being added to the WD teams. Yet, I read this line, "This 152-page tome is the essential companion for Kill Team, collecting rules and background previously published in White Dwarf magazine and adding brand-new missions and operatives. Chief among these are [the two Rogue Trader teams]..." to mean that the referenced new operatives are NOT those being reprinted from the White Dwarf and include more than just the Euclidean and the Gellerpox teams, which are "chief" among the brand-new operatives.
Those will definitely be there and likely take around 30 pages of the book (15 missions x 2 pages each). The six mentioned teams are about 90 pages (6 teams x 15 pages each). That should leave us with another 35 pages or so to fill in. 12 of those is likely to be the terrain article from WD. I think there is room for one more team and another short article (or miscellaneous stuff)
Circle Hello! I’m assuming any mention of new operatives is only referring to the Starstriders & Gellarpox. Adding new operatives to the WD teams is just too impractical. It is good they’re republishing the 4 WD teams + the sentries rules. Hopefully the terrain roundup will be in there as well. Re: other terms instead of Compendium. GW published 3 collections of WD articles in the Rogue Trader days: Chapter Approved: Book of the Astronomicon, Compendium, & Compilation. So they could always dredge that 3rd one up again.
Perhaps we'll get more than just the 6 mentioned teams. The pic showing AdMech also shows a Genestealer team. Perhaps that one will get a full, non-compendium list.

This is the primary reason I stepped away from Kill Team, in the previous version I could look at the books and customize my forces. Then shop for the cool figures I wanted to add, picking up random stuff here and there. Now it feels like everything is locked up with no real customization. Harlequins was the only really good update but until now was only available in the white dwarf magazine. Any of the other forces have missing units or cant mix together to make a true customized kill team. The past releases were high dollars and if you didn't play that faction it wasn't worth buying. So you had nothing to buy for that release, This is where War Cry does a better job. If I like chaos and they release a new chaos creature, most likely I can add it to my Warband.
Customization is nice but it was one of the primary reasons the previous killteam was not all that popular. It was extremely expensive and time consuming to actually make a good killteam. The struggle to get enough plasma guns was real. Balance was also all over the place and most options for any particular killteam weren't competitive between themselves so lists tended to always narrow down to the same dudes anyway Hobby wise the other system was somewhat better maybe, but for the game to be good and popular this is the true and only way
Thank you for voicing my feelings about the White Dwarf copies possibly being outdated by the Annual. That's been a sore spot for me who just started a Wyrmblade kill team.
I sincerely hope it's another case of wArHamMeR cOmMuNiTy editors not actually playing / knowing the game that causes such vague, controversial statements. If GW suddenly changes these WD Kill Teams everyone is going to be asshurt because they already built their Teams in a certain way, no one likes to be forced to re-buy miniatures to keep up with the rules.

Quick idea about the Techno-Virus. What if it matched the depreciation of Conqueror Imperative from Hunter Clade. So maybe within 6 inches, your opponent will be forced to reroll a crit whenever they shoot? Especially seeing as it may be an anti-crit team?
You missed the most important thing of the article GHD, they are giving us rules for multiplayer games. If this is not game-changing then I don't know what is. Stop your salty rant and read the whole piece first man.
Anyone else basically stop playing KT at this point? I got so hyped bought the 1st big KT box and I've legit barely played it. It's just so boring and less interesting than 40k and it didn't used to be this way. I'll be waiting on the book this time, I'm not gonna invest into KT anymore.

It never says new operatives, it says SPECIAL operatives not available in 40k. Half the video was rambling on a wrong assumption.

You missed the most important thing of the article GHD, they are giving us rules for multiplayer games. If this is not game-changing then I don't know what is.

Anyone else basically stop playing KT at this point? I got so hyped bought the 1st big KT box and I've legit barely played it. It's just so boring and less interesting than 40k and it didn't used to be this way. I'll be waiting on the book this time, I'm not gonna invest into KT anymore.
