totally new to Kill Team so this is absolute gravy!! Many thanks!! Do you think you'll be doing any videos on the solo game? I've hardly seen anything online on it yet but a lot of people have said they really enjoy playing KT solo (PvE) so i'm really interested to see what an actual solo game looks like, particularly the decision making process during the 'enemy' turn. Cheers Andy, have a great New Year.
I have played solo games and have things to say about it, but the reason there isn't any real coverage of it online is that it's simply not something that people want regular updates on. It's such a personal thing that it can't support a channel. However yes, there will be a few solo play videos in the future. Like most of my vids they will mainly be talking head, saying my experiences of it as opposed to rules/tutorial videos. But a kind of "start to finish solo game" sounds like it could be an interesting vid perhaps!
@@GlassHalfDead thanks for the reply, much appreciated. yeah its a really interesting concept, ive been into 40k since the arse end of the 80s and quite often its had to be a solo endeavour for various reasons, so to get a legitimate solo option and ruleset is quite a big thing really, like youve said in another video there needs to be an initiative system of sorts, but its a start at least! I think a surprising amount of people will be picking up KT for solo/co-op, quite a few people I know are seeing it as a valid entry point after just painting for so many years, so I could see it really growing in the future, regardless, I look forward to anything you put together on solo/co-op KT Andy, youre doing the emperors work sir!
Ignore your abilities for the first 2 games is great advice for the most part. Just move and shoot. Move and fight. If it feels like something should be legal it probably is and you can correct yourself later. I dont think we even used engage/conceal orders the first game me and my buddy played. Don’t use CP, don’t do anything else. Just play a 20 minute game. Then later in turning points and CP.
I spend a lot of time doing teaching games in my local community. I always try to funnel people into either Kommandos or Angels of Death for their first games.
I remember seeing at some point that Kommandos were being rotated out of a season or something? Basically going to Legends. Did I misinterpret that or are they futureproof?
As in all things, this will come down to a bit of bias. I personally don't much care for the novitiates, so wouldn't recommend them. I haven't had great results with them and so struggle to see what makes them strong and how they are easy to play. I'm sure others might think they're great for beginners, but they wouldn't be MY pick. Really, you should learn with the team you think is the coolest, that's the ultimate answer!
Hello! Im a beginner and I started with the karskins but I was wondering between making the hive fleet or the hierotek circle as I like both of the models, could anyone give his opinion about this? Thank you!
Scouts are an amazing team. One box gives you 30 of them and the only thing you need to do is have 20 bodies and bases printed. Which is super cheap because it's scouts.
While I respect your thoughts and insights on the game of Kill Team, as I'm somebody who's trying to get into the hobby. I would have liked to see your list of teams you think are good for beginners FULL STOP, not a list of teams that are easy to learn when you ignore half the rules for 3~10 games. My first game was a three-man game with a couple friends as we all flailed about trying to learn everything. And I definitely would never suggest anybody try to learn the game that way, but we did what we did and had fun with it. But people are just like that sometimes, some of us get into a hobby and we want to dive in headfirst and not take things slow. So finding a list of teams that I can go full bore with and not have to worry about pumping the brakes as I learn would have been great. Saying the Plague and Warp Marines are a good starting team for the sole reason that you should ignore half of their rules doesn't feel right. You spend nearly the first two minutes of the Aeldari segment justifying your choice instead of just explaining why they're a good team off the bat. It just felt like you're trying to convince yourself that it's a worthwhile team to learn with instead of telling me that.
I'm unsure why I suddenly got the urge to write a damn dissertation on things I didn't like in an otherwise good video. Sorry Keep up the good work. I do enjoy the content. I watched your videos on repeat trying to get rules down in my head before that three-player game. Thank you
@@Tigermanic21 I get what you're saying. In my view, that was the first slide, which is what the KT dev was suggesting. So I wanted to branch out beyond "super simple no frills"
I’ve been learning the game since mid-October, and it’s been a fun journey so far! In my opinion, the layering suggestion that's been mentioned numerous times is solid. Here's a summary of my experience so far: - Watched many TH-cam videos, ranging from rules explanations to battle reports. - Played 1 solo match using the Starter Set (it was extremely fun, and I took enough pictures for a decent battle report). - Played 1 match against a friend using the Starter Set. - Played 2 cooperative matches with 2 friends, using the Vokus co-op mission - no equipment or ploys. - Played 1 "co-op match" where I controlled the NPOs, and 3 friends controlled the Angels of Death, with equipment but no ploys. - Played the first campaign mission of Vokus against a friend (no scoring points, only the story’s victory condition), with equipment and no ploys - Angels of Death vs. Novitiates (me). - Played a full-rules match (first time scoring points) against a friend. He picked Angels of Death, and I picked Legionnaires (Vokus map 6 with Coordinates Crit Op). I won, and my friend was somewhat upset, saying Legionnaires are broken (which I agreed with). - Played another full-rules match against a different friend. He chose Legionnaires, and I chose Angels of Death (Vokus map 6 with Loot Crit Op). I won mainly due to dice rolls and the fact that he picked the map side, which left me with the high vantage point. I had a sniper up there, and it really gave me an advantage. I am enjoying Kill Team a lot!
i just learned the game a few months ago and my group learned via lite rules first. just basic movement and shooting/fighting, learning positioning and dice rolls first. it was good to get the basics down solid first then adding on all the ploys/equipment/faction rules etc. it felt easier to get a firm grasp on the rest of the game. to each their own though!
Good intro. Sometimes I just wonder if you could be a bit more consistent in your presentation, as it does become a bit tiresome when you stop in a the middle of your reasoning. The content is spot on, just go on about it. Just some constructive criticism. Carry on.

I got a box of 'Hernkyn Yaegirs' and i'm definitely going to paint them up to play my first game of kill team.
I love my Yeagerz

Awesome

What about the novitiates they seem really good for beginners after looking at the rules for them. The faith points seem great

@GlassHalfDead thanks for the answer I do see your point I just find a pool of points could be a easy way to learn

Ooh, I would suggest a big more research before diving in because hive fleet is no longer in the game! That was LAST edition.

@@cidtheslayer1yeah because he is saying you need to get someone to 3D print up 20 bodies and bases haha. So it is a stretch to say you get 30 haha.
Oh ye
anyone have the instagram of the KT dev? i'd like to check them out!
