With Vantage Points removed, what should I call my podcast from now on? I'll start with: Into The Dank... The podcast in question: anchor.fm/andrew-lynch06
Maybe something like Smoke grenades or equipment that can obscure models may be the trick to handling camping next to a doorway. You see there are models on the other side of a room, toss a smoke grenade within 6 inches or so obscuring say 2 inch radius in smoke, making models in the smoke harder to target while penalizing their accuracy, allowing melee units to rush in and break the enemy position
I think something like how necromunda does grenades would be fun. You target a spot and roll to hit. If it misses its still thrown, but you roll a scatter die to see where it rolls off to before it explodes. Would be fun to do something like that regardless for grenades!
Nothing more beautiful then Ur-25 with armour piercing and explosive ammunition to just slowly push your party through the board like a walking heavy weapons emplacement.
Track target vs guard--from what we know, track target lets you be on conceal and still have your reaction shot. Maybe there will be other differences too.
Considering this is a 'season' of Kill Team, I wouldn't be surprised if they later release space hulk terrain that features large open areas. There were LOTS of massive open areas in Deathwing. Makes no sense to completely abandon that tactic and act like all Space Hulks are narrow passages and low ceiling rooms.
My reading is just that there are no vantage points in the corridors of the Gallodark, which is obvious from looking at the terrain in the box. I don't think that means vantage points are being removed from the game.
No comment on that closing sentence? I don't know what actual "reveals" they are going to have later in the week, but I can imagine something like what we saw for Warcry last week, where they drop the names of the other boxes coming during the season. Maybe they'll even announce some kind of standalone Votann/Guard Kill Team early something, kind of like what we saw with the Legionnaires for Warcry. Would be amazing to get more than just the two big box teams every quarter...
@@GlassHalfDead I sure hope that's not the case... because that's pretty misleading. Doesn't tell us anything we don't already know about the future of the game.
My guess would be, it works like the reactive fire ability from Another Game. When Set Up in guard, anything walking into your field of reaction triggers you being able to shoot at them, probably on a malus to your normal hit value as your reacting swiftly to something only semi expected. And the interrupting Part could also bei parallel so you move 3 circle, on circle brings you Into reaction Ränge, you Stop, the operative on guard let's loose, you continue with whatever movement you have left or the next planned Action, taking into Account the damage you got, If any. (Or the untimely Death of your operative, of course)
HYPE! Choke point podcast. SHUT THAT DOOR cast. Glass half choked podcast. No (vantage) point podcast. In to the pod. I got the impression, guard would be set positions similar to PN, though with many more terrain layouts, seems unlikely they'll be marked on the board....
Without vantage, I hope they release objectives that replace the recon obj that requires vantage points to score For the podcast name, how about: Trading Up Mission Sequence Turning Point Five
Name Ideas: • Into the Glass • Vantage Bird • Guard Action • Into the Glass-Half-Dark • Glass-Half-Guard • Glass Half Hulk Also: The Gellarpox are coming back, and there's YET to be a "Bespoke Demons" team. So there IS a possibility for new "Chaos Kill Teams" Also: Space Hulk came out in '89, and X-Com (original) in '94... so it was ORIGINALLY a Space Hulk tactic!
I'm wondering if it's more of a hint of upcoming terrain, like we might get some Chaos Space Marine terrain, or some Aldari terrain coming (vs the first set which looks pretty imperial)
Oh Star Wars Legion. The game I wish I could cover and still get views... until they released that weird van bus as not a joke. rip To more exciting things, I just bought all of the Mazon Labs models :D
@@GlassHalfDead I have the ones from Star Saga and picked up a cyborg dreadball team about a week before than announced the deadzone specific model pack. I think i am mainly missing the spider thing.
Circle Hello! Podcast should be renamed “Hatch-Fight!” The comment on blocking hatchways with friendlies makes me wonder if you can block a closed hatch door or if your opponent can just spend an AP to open the door, then fight you through the hatchway. Tournaments should be a mix of open field (Octarius, Chalnath, et al) & Gallowdark boards. That’ll challenge players more & really help the best players stand out.
Surely Vantage Points will still work the same in the existing Kil Zones... They aren't going anywhere, so the Vantage Points will still be there. WD only just gave us the ability to create our own Kill Zones. Don't fall into the trap of new 'Seasons' invalidate previous ones... it's just a way to introduce new content.
As BB points out, I'm really just talking about the new killzone. The Octarius killzone will still exist. But oddly, the Octarius killzone won't have Guard, but will have Vantage Points
Track Target is stronger than Guard. The Guarding model can't perform other actions. The Marksman can stay concealed and perform other actions while Track Target is active.
Hey brother. When do you think the new killteam will be released? First week of september? I really need to start saving for it. I dont feel like waiting for a price drop on ghis one.
Given that we're coming up to 3 months since the last box (released 4th of June), the WarCom marketing for this box started nearly 2 months ago (first article was 30th of June), and GW don't have a whole lot of stuff ready to release outside of Horus Heresy (they still haven't revealed the Leagues of Votann Codex), I'd definitely expect to see pre-orders starting either the first or second Saturday in September. Fortunately, I don't expect it to cost any more than the Warcry Heart of Ghur box.
So, I guess “Disadvantage Point” is too obvious? I’m very hyped for this set. There seems to be a major focus on small hammer lately. Or is it that I’m more interested in the skirmish games than 40k, Heresy and AoS?
No I think there's a big push for the small games for sure. We just had Warcry release and that seems to have signalled a break in 40k model releases for like 2 months. KT is being spoiled.
Hmm, I will get the book of the box, but play with my Battle Systems Terrain. May be I also get the board of the box too, but if I find a good mat I will skip that. I have so much Battle Systems Terrain that it would be a waste to buy the plastic one, especially a waste of time because it's only good when painted 😁 The Teams are nice, but I already have 12 factions/teams (14 if the annual drops) so I don't need more 😅
Can't bring myself.to get too excited over this. Don't like either of the teams, the terrain is cool but there's plenty of open lock ship terrain to 3d print for far cheaper than these.box sets, and it will no doubt have a pretty sizeable price increase over octarius. Will just use the rules once they're online for free
Yeah I can't deny I'm worried about the price. If it only bumps up by a little bit from octarius I'll take it as a win. I think that's how they'll go tbh. But then they might go nuts and attempt to squeeze the KT players like necromunda does and then it'll be silly.
@@GlassHalfDead war cry box had $60+ dollars tacked on for the exact same amount of content as the last one. Not world changing money obviously but it's a lot when you don't get anything extra over the box you payed $60 less for. I expect that's the minimum increase for this, though it could be more since KT is more popular.
@@vinterbjork4128 Same, time to dust off the Arena and Pariah Nexus terrain/boards again once the ruleset goes online. Can probably semi easily adapt the narrative campaign stuff to fit in with those settings as well
Tournaments could maybe do what was done after Arena in the 1st ed, everybody plays 2 normal and 2 ItD games or something like that. Personally, I could not care less about Vantage Points, in our local games they were always a negative thing for whoever made the decision and got on one. And got very unceremoniously and swiftly shot off. And podcast is from here simply known as No Vantage Point
Looks nothing like a Space Hulk. Looks like a warehouse heist. The "Guard" rules are just "Overwatch" from Space Hulk. May still be fun. The GW video was a nothing burger. They repeated the same flavor text three times. The hint about a "Guard" mechanic was all there was to it.
