Best cheap Chinese SUV yet? 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro review

  • The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is an interesting offering - for a number of reasons.
    It's value-packed, starting at less than $40k drive-away in Australia, and it comes very, VERY well equipped -- enough so that you might not even need to consider spending more on one of the higher-spec versions.
    But there are a couple of grades to choose from, including a top-spec Ultimate all-wheel drive model, as tested here, which is pushing the boundaries for a "cheap" model in Australia at $46k d/a, but does stack up pretty well in terms of rivals and where prices have shifted in the recent years.
    I'd have it over a GWM Haval H6, but other great alternatives - for those shopping on a really tight budget - include:
    Mitsubishi Outlander (PHEV review here): • Best Mitsubishi EVER?!...
    Mahindra XUV700: • Best cheap 7 seater in...
    Honda ZR-V: • Honda ZR-V 2024 review...
    Watch the review and tell me if the issues with carrying capacity and towing capability are big enough to stop you from buying one of these cars... Or if it would be the tech that kept you away!

Last time I had a tyre problem it was totally stuffed and I just changed it and kept going but this repair kit is a load of crap. Try using it on a blown out tyre and your in a place with no reception. It should not even be allowed.

    Had my Ultimate model for 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. Mine doesn't start in Eco mode every drive it remembers the last mode it was driven in. The "DMS" Driver Monitor System can be turned off as it says in the manual but isn't in the menu for some reason so may need a software update. Will be bringing it up at my 1000km inspection next week.
    Also you can adjust the car length distance for the Adaptive Cruise Control on the steering wheel with the buttons with the horizontal lines.

It's a quite a nice looking vehicle as you said, and I saw another Chery a couple of weeks ago drive into a carpark and it made me go up and check what it was! - it did look stylish - it was a different model to this one - so I think they are on the right track styling wise. Here in SA Cherys are flying off the shelf, so to speak.
    We have regulating authorities, especially the EU, to blame for the annoying nanny systems. Chinese automakers are keen to conquer Europe hence the safety systems have to be on every time you start the car.
    I doubt if most of the things that annoy you would trouble buyers because they'd get to them as they'll be living with the car.

    • @brakgosi6271
      @brakgosi6271 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      These days it's very difficult to make an unreliable car. Carmakers source most parts from the same suppliers, including key internal parts like rings and bearings.
      Also even owners of brands that are regarded as reliable no longer keep cars for a long time.
      So, unless you're the second or third owner, reliability is relatively not as important for you since the car will still be under warrantee

    • @maddogmorgan1
      @maddogmorgan1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's how parts are put together not where they are made that is the issue, eg: see buildings falling down in China after 3 years. The skill of the workforce is more important. As for warranty, a manufacturer can offer 100-year warranties and it doesn't mean jack shit unless they honour it.@@brakgosi6271

    You can turn off the welcome theme and mute the safety alarms. I wish for once reviewers would read or at least glance thro' the manual before they record these shows. Its basics like that which make a mockery of the reviews. Basically you are condoning something which is not an issue. This is the 4th Aussie review with the same fault and you are not alone. South African, Malaysian and Philippine are the same. The Turkish and UAE showed the systems being turn off. Good on them.

    You didnt mention another option to this which was the H6 which is a good competitor to this.

    for a 'new' car there seems to be a hell of a lot of things that are just "NOT VERY GOOD"... i really lost could how many times this was said... and there's a reason why this car is "NOT VERY GOOD"... its been on the Chinese market since 2019... so by now its a well worn design... already with probably hundreds of thousands of examples on CHinese roads so Chery would have a lot of feedback on what doesnt work so well, but it seems they dont take notice of that. Also why would this car triumph over the H6 which is marketly less expensive with a bigger engine, with admittedly a bigger thirst.

      It’s better to drive and easier to live with than a H6.

      @@therightcar Ive only driven the Haval once and found it to be too jerky in its ride and a lot of plastic in the cab. Only driven the Chery once but way way better. Im driving a Volvo 2 Ltr-T XC40 and the chery was up there in comfort and the 1.6 had heaps enough power.

    Walk away from it. It's just not good enough . I've had an MG & a Haval on 2 trips to Tasmania & they were absolute junk, & I wouldn't think that this would be any better . I've owned 60 different vehicles over nearly 40 yrs . Previously Fords , Toyota's, Mazda's, an Audi A4 Allroad Tdi, VW Tiguan 147Tdi & i currently have a VW Touareg R Line 210 Tdi here in Australia , I had Renault's, Citroen's, Vauxhalls while living in Europe . Chinese vehicles just aren't worth the risk . May look reasonably good, but are usually far from good. Another overpriced vehicle & nor worth what Chery are asking. Hooking your phone into the infotainment may also be a possible security issue .

      That's your choice but be a little more informed. Democracy is just a label. The West labels China "authoritarian" because China has achieved wealth, power, prosperity and it's people live in a safe and functional society. And it did it without "democracy". Australia and US and Britain love slapping the label "authoritarian" on countries they can't compete with or perceive to be a threat but are all too happy to cosy up to countries like Vietnam who is also a communist "authoritarian" or Saudi Arabia which is runned by religious zealots.

      The design and dashboard looks very similar. Engine is a lot better in the Indian one. I wonder which one debuted first in their home markets
