G'day Lars. This video is exactly what I have been telling my friends since I did my first major road trip in my Model 3. We drove from Melbourne, Victoria to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland (about 1800 km), and back, and had exactly the experiences you outlined here. No trouble with charging, even though the supercharger network is not as extensive in Australia as Europe. The autopilot was brilliant etc. I will not repeat your whole video! Thanks for sharing, and now I can point to this video and say: "like this bloke!".
Great points about all the nice little things. My favorite is winter preheating/predefrosting. When others at the train station are brushing off their windshields and getting into freezing cars, mine is toasty and clear. Ciao, suckers!
Just got back from a Connecticut to Florida and back road trip with my wife. We could not have been happier with how well the car performed, and the Tesla Supercharger network. The hotel we stayed at overnight on the trip down and back had Superchargers in the parking lot! The stops we made for food and bathroom breaks we also used to charge the car. In each case the car was charged and ready to go before we were. While in Florida for the week had no trouble finding places to charge the car while shopping or at various destinations. Also used Autopilot on the way down and back, really impresses with this system. Worked excellently in very congested traffic in New Jersey, New York and Virginia, where lanes are narrow, and traffic is moving quickly. Could not have been happier.
I did almost the same trip from Denmark to Roma through Holland with 4 big kids, and had exactly the same experiment as you describe in your to road trip videos. fantastic road trip car.
Loved your stunning video of all the countryside and nature you drove through in Europe. Looks stunning, Lars! Glad you got to enjoy it while your Tesla did the work of driving you and your family.
A convincing argument for the unbeatable combination of electromobility with FSD is the gain in quality of life. As perfectly demonstrated with Lars‘ roadtrip through Europe.
Awesome content as usual! Could you tell us more about that plug-in refrigerator/freezer/ice box that you mentioned please? What make/model is it and where does it plug in? Cheers from Canada!
"fun part in mountains" Me: I hope I don't fry the brake fluid on the way down this mountain in my ICE van. (I learned how to use my L gear very quick - but regen the whole time would have been awesome!)
What I also love is that Cruise control actually WORKS in the mountains. My old Mazda (and yours) could not maintain speed downhill so was useless AND you need to use a low gear so as to not cook your brakes. Also going up steep hills cruise would choose 2nd gear screaming at high RPM. How amazing and relaxing that the Tesla effortlessly maintains correct speed both up AND down hill.
We are planning a Trans-Canada trip and I’ve discovered that we don’t need to plan. Just drive as we would an ICE car. We will however take a CHAdeMO or CCS1 adapter to Tesla with us.
I think your very fortunate Lars, generally as soon as the holiday photos/Video's come out it's time to go! Yes, many a time when I wanted to get rid of people that were over staying my hospitality and my home all I had to do was dig out some photos and start telling my unlucky guests who these people were (not that they knew them or would ever meet them) but it always had the desired affect that my guests would look at their watch and say rather loudly "God, look at the time...we really must go" 😁 However, your holiday snaps are well worth me putting my portable hangman's kit away and continue watching! Very interesting too! 👏👏👏
Awesome video Lars and loved seeing all the beautiful scenery!! You made some great points and can’t wait to get the CT and do some traveling. Appreciate your videos! 👍🙏
Thanks for sharing your road trip with us. You have a beautiful family. I can now forward this to friends who still poo poo Tesla’s for all the reasons you just dispelled. You Rock Lars!

Great summary, Lars! We have exactly the same experience, and enjoyed your enthusiastic checking all items on our long list of pros with Tesla. So we even watched it twice!🤗
Thank-you for mentioning the point that your BEV can go longer than you can before needing a break. These ICE-heads that insist they need over 1,000 miles (1,610 km) range before they'll even consider buying a BEV just drive me nuts.
Bullshit, the ICE gives you all the flexibility of the world, doesn't matter if you are towing or if you want to arrive faster on a 2000 miles road trip, also sometimes there can be two drivers in the car.
We some how need to lobby government to make this illegal. And at the very least I wish places that provide EV parking and charging would be more assertive with the ICE car owners. Make them move or tow their cars....
don't need to do that. just don't pay for the DATA plan. but, it's actually Worth it. Tesla satellite maps are quite good. besides, you will need a separate aftermarket device with OUTDATED maps on SD. and that can't Route you to any Supercharger like Tesla maps can. and the OFFLINE maps can't program Tesla Autopilot.

Lars, when you made your reservations at the hotel did you ask if they had charging stations?
Suggestion: could you give an Amazon or other referral link to the portable car refrigerator you use on trips?
Perhaps the YETI USB ice chest ?
