I agree; Isaiah Thomas was as great as any player. A team player too, he sacrificed stats for just wanting to win. Winning is why we play, he knew the name of the game
I LOVED the way they played. They were fundamental, with an attitude. Loved watching them. They just wanted to win, what else could you want of a sports team?
This true Champion 🏆 Detroit pistons back to back 89&90 second team did after Lakers 87&88 long time I'm student the game basketball 🏀 play in high-school basketball 🏀 late 80s I'm oreganly Seattle Supersonic fan but I like defensive team like The Detroit pistons back to back Champion 🏆
Thanks for commenting! We feel this team doesn't get its due nationally. We feel they were playing the game as it was during this era. Watch some of the Celtics-Lakers finals and they were just as physical as the Pistons. However, by the Pistons regin, the league was much more corporate. That's when the transition to today's game fully begun.
@@TheSmoothoperator316 The refs were a joke that night...first they claim to have "not seen" Parish's assualt on Laimbeer..and then they don't bother calling Bird for what does INDEED appear to show Bird's foot touching out of bounds as he was tapping the ball to Dennis Johnson..douchenozzles. It just was another MONUMENTAL break the Celtics sorry asses needed and got in that series to escape.
The refs were in bed with the Celtics during this time, (unless they were facing LA) But anyway...refs & the league hated Detroit. The Celtics were the good ol American lunch-pail team going up against gangsters in the referees eyes.
@@SatansGreatestSoldier It wasn't just that. They were also stopping everyone's hero (Jordan) from winning a title for three straight years before NBC got the contract and fixed it for MJ and the Fools.
Why is it every one of the videos gives Kudos to the drafting of Isiah, Dumars, Rodman & Salley but no mention at all of Kelly Tripucka? I mean granted he wasn’t there for the Championship run. But he was an intriguing player who helped in the stepping stone of making them a better team.
My favorite team ever to watch...they bullied the hell outta teams. Teams in the modern day NBA wouldn't even know where to start to handle being smothered and man handled like this. Defense is non existent today, which is why I went from loving NBA basketball to now not even watching it anymore. Can't stand the constant step back three pointers, no defense and really no offense...it's just chuck up scoreboard ball todaym
They were the better team top to bottom in the 88 Finals. But they were not going to win. Isiah or no Isiah. They weren’t going to win that game 7. It was like what happened to the Lakers in 84. They were a better team than the Celtics but they weren’t going to win a 7th game in Boston Garden. 89 the Lakers were more disabled than Detroit in 88. No Magic no Byron. But they did win again in 90 so they were legit. Just a good thing for them that Horace and Scottie hadn’t stepped up yet or they wouldn’t have beaten the Bulls in 90.
Love that Pulse cd. I remember hearing those tunes at the clubs. Ce Ce. Those were the nights.

I love the music in this video..ESPECIALLY the track played at the end.
1:45 that's a good point Laimbeer makes. Very true.

Bird Looked Like He Stepped Out Of Bounds. Watch His Feet Closely. Game 5 1987 Eastern Conference Finals.
He Did!
The Stupid Referee didn’t call it!

@marlontroy2064 You're not the first person online that has brought that up.

Best, true champs ever. No talent, just a hard work and that epic willingness to do whatever it takes. I love them still by today.
Terrible Chumps😂

5:16 we all saw this commercial in the early 2000’s
Explain how Isiah, Dumars and Rodman are in the HOF but Laimbeer isn’t?
Agreed! # 40 deserves to be a HOF!

Pistons got robbed in 88
And they would’ve beaten the Bulls even with a healthy Scottie. Stop the revisionist nonsense.
