  • Try these 13 power skating drills to improve your forward crossovers.
    Crossovers help players create speed and acceleration on curved or non-linear skating patterns. They also allow players to weave, zigzag, change direction, and move laterally with and without the puck, making them more elusive and harder to defend. Because they’re so important, all hockey players, whether novice or pro, should practice their forward crossovers regularly.

    These are great drills, thanks for sharing. Really like the stick over the back, its always hard to get kids to turn into the crossovers.

    So good...you could even practice the first at home with skate or on carpet!

      @@HockeyRecap so 10 months ago these drills seemed foreign to me. I was not really able to do good forward cross overs let alone teach my kids. After working on these drills every week my cross overs have improved exponentially, I am significantly more elusive in my old man beer league and having loads of fun teaching my boys and their team!

    I'm just learning to skate, all that was available was a figure skating orientated learn to skate program who were totally cool with me showing up with hockey skates. Anyway I want to learn hockey style skating but not going to play hockey, I'm 62. No hockey, not going to be a figure skater either. My question to you is, and may be a dumb one but are you guys using the hockey sticks to help you balance? Can you do a video without the stick to help me know where to put my arms? Where do hockey players put there arms without the hockey stick? thanks for you video.

    This is great! I'm new to the sport. I'm having a tough time keeping my outside edge pointed straight after I crossover with my inside edge. Thanks for the video!

    I skate on 7/8 to 15/16 usually. Should I start going w a deeper cut if I wanna improve my skating?

    • @HockeyRecap
      @HockeyRecap  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both of us (Brandon and Matt) skate on a half inch cut. I've never heard of something so dull as 7/8 or 15/16, so I'd definitely give a little deeper cut a try!
