I can get to 75 so from there to 100 will be a fun challenge. Great timing on this video. This past summer I made a commitment to spend this winter getting back into hockey after an 8yr hiatus. Definitely will be watching this video more.
Well after watching all the levels I’d rank myself at 75. I thought I was advanced but see there’s always room to improve and build my edges. Once I can get back on the ice I’m going to study these drills! 🙏
Watching this video again for at least the 5th time and noticed you haven’t posted in a year. Hope you come back and post more, you have a great channel that has helped a lot of people.
Thank you very much for this video! I've been getting into ice hockey and want to play it now, too, but I'm a total beginner. These will help me possibly enter one of the teams here where I'm from and then maybe work my way up! Thank you, truly.
Same here I’m 26 and feel I’ve started way too late :(. But I’m pretty athletic and skating is coming to me quickly and I’m having an absolute blast with it
@@PoisondBacon I'm 33, started skating last winter. Fell 1000 times at least. Broke my finger. I live near water that freezes so I was trying to put in a couple hours a day just practicing the basics. This year I felt like I had a good enough hockey stop and such that I wouldnt be embarrassing and joined a pick up league. Like yourself I'm relatively athletic, but most importantly I was stubborn as hell about pursuing this lifelong goal. I'm way behind. Waaaaaay behind but who cares, its all fun. Also anyone who is thinking of learning how to skate, do it asap. Wish I would have learned 10 (or 30) years ago. :)
His skating is amazing. I came here to learn how to get better on my edges so I can be a better skater when I become a USA Hockey ref in the fall. Based on this video I'd be a level 10 skater, I am going to aim to be at least level 30 by the fall
Makes it look so easy - wish I had the same ability on both sides ex. crossovers - cannot seem to crossover to one side either forward or backward as well as to the other side...
Always like nice sharp edges, I always know after a minute on the ice that I need sharpening, I always have a local guy, whom played a lot of hockey sharpen them, don’t just trust anyone with your edges
@@hockeytraining i would be really interested in that too, especially because im about to sharpen my skates and im not sure which hollow i should go with.
There’s certainly levels to skating as this video has demonstrated. It’s so humbling to watch this. After skating for 10+ years I’m probably at level 5 at best
I could do level 100. I'm a good skater but I lack in good hockey sense and I ain’t hitting people enough for elite levels in my province. Here is something that might be harder to do than level 100: come in outside edge following the edge of a circle and pivot towards the outside of the cercle while staying on the same foot and keeping the turning as constant as possible and do it another time but turning towards the center. You’ve done a 360 on 1 foot while turning. The faster you turn, the harder it is to keep balance.
What is the reason for sliding away on those exercises? For example for tjese turns at tje beginning. Why do i sometimes glide sidewards, instead od forward as usual?😅
Hi I’m new into hockey… did he has any protection under his pants ? Is there any training gear you can use or is it a standard protection ? I know I will fall a lot, so I would be prepared :) thx 4 the help
This guy might have shin guards on to do the knee touches? But he probably doesn't have any gear besides the gloves and stick since he's an expert skater. However, most players just train in full gear since that's what you gotta get used to for a game. Just suit all the way up to practice skating, it'll make falling a lot less painful!
I coach 35 youth teams, and every Hockey Canada coaching clinic I would go to, I'd say: "Why don't you teach me how to teach them how to skate?" Those were the days.
I'm Coaching u9 hockey this year and have been looking everywhere for good power skating drills. After watching this video, I don't think I even know how to skate properly. 🤣
hey really nice vid! but if i could give a tip, try to work a bit with the lightning. the ice is so extremely bright that it becomes hard to watch. and maybe filter the sound a bit because the crusing of your skating is hard to listen too. but honestly loved the video thank you!
Is there an actual edge work video like this that has 1-100 edge work techniques from your site? Or was this just a video showing some of his edge work techniques? Either way these are pretty awesome. Thought it would be cool to have a comprehensive video like this to run through with the kids.
We don't have a video with 100 drills in it, but if you look at our Edge Work playlist we have multiple videos and most likely close to 100 drills throughout them 👍🏼
It’s the damn Mohawk I can’t figure out. Pivoting between forward and backward vice versa I could see achieving a Mohawk in a nano second but just couldn’t get through my fear and hold a neutral stance, and then start to choose a side and push off. I hope I’ll overcome that psyche someday.
I could watch him skate all day. So effortless doing expert-level stuff. Wow.
🤣🤣🤣
This is pretty basic skating stuff. If you're basically coordinated, it will take you 20 min to learn this. 😊
Yeah basic if you're basically already a pro skater 🙄

Have seen a bunch of skating drill videos but this guy has by far the most beautiful technique.
Steve❤️ always a pleasure to watch his drills. Hope to see him more frequently on this channel

🤯 so effortless you can tell he is a perfectionist, outstanding.

I think 75 should be ranked higher- maybe closer to the 95-99 range

This is awesome stuff. Love you guys. Always gives us stuff to work on, on our own.
Awesome skating definitely gonna incorporate some level 50-60 stuff into my stick time this week.
@51, im going back in to give the kids a run outside at the parks this Winter. Great skill set right here! Well done Coach!
That's beautiful. I'm good up to level 70. Level 75 and up gives me good things to practice. Thank you.

Amazing skating. Very strong.
Grabbed several to practice. Thank you Steve
Great drills.. Steve's so smooth and effortless
As an ice dancer in my mid 70's I'm inclined to stop at the back crossovers at around Level 65-70 (which we do in the Viennese Waltz)
Just watching this, my heels gave out somewhere around level 80. Great stuff!
a 1 on 1 hour lesson w steve would be a dream skill skate for me dude is unreal
Come to London, ON 🇨🇦
Wtf! This guy is the man. Holy compilation!
These drills are amazing and look really fun to do! Thanks for these.
Use to do those for warm ups with the team nice work
This video is straight gold

Nice stuff as always.
Please bring one of your summer skating camps to Madison, Wisconsin!!!
This vid gave me so much courage to do more skating. I would rank myself at least a lvl 75-80
My god, this guy just gave me ah ha moments in 10 seconds that never came in 10 yrs.
All done Latvia (:💪🏼

Those outside edge drills I need to work on
Man … this guy can Skate 😮❤
I went to that arena yesterday! I went skating for a friend's bday
Always curious what hollow Steve uses on his skates, is he doing this awesome edgework with something sharp like a 1/2" or less aggressive like a 1"?
I'll try asking him and let you know
Interested too…

What's the difference between Level 1 and 10 Crosby move? It looks exactly the same.
1 is a full circle hold.
What skate blade Hollow does Steven bk use? I swear its so hard for me to punch turn and stop with my non dominant foot (Right side)
I'll try and ask him and let you know

You should have a camp in Vancouver

Lvl 50 I do that every time I get on the ice great content

I can do all of them but a couple of them are pretty difficult to do

This sound ❤
Does he lace up that top eyelit I see a lot of ankle movement. Wonder if that helps him do this stuff.
Lvl 90+ is great to watch, so that before a game and the other team will be intimidated haha
Спасибо большое за всё

Level 100
I can't even do #1 :cries:
Is level 20 after 2 years okay? I mean I can do some of the levels beyond that but I’ve got a solid 20
That's great. Keep working at it!
Do you know what hollow he recommends?
I see a lot of younger coaches online are pushing for shallow hollows im wondering if he woukd agree
Shallow for beginners and then progress
good skating

do u have in-person session? if so..where could that be?
London, ON is Steve's home base although we are planning a camp in Vancouver likely (and he will probably do one in Toronto) 🇨🇦
Can someone PLEASE tell me where to find the exact gloves he’s wearing? These would be perfect for my nephews first year of high school
