His stride is so silent but so fast and strong, there’s no stomping and he never looses speed. Maybe the ice quality muffled the noise but I think he’s truly a god at skating
After watching this I ran away to the pond and tried to do all these moves! This coach is awesome! Easy to understand, his moves are perfect))) Big greetings from Siberia, Russia!

@@tombarni6009 I was working on them last night, i found just getting used to how much pressure to use helps by keep your non stopping foot on the ice for balance until you get the feel or scraping a layer off the ice without bouncing your skate (if that makes sense) and just repeat. Practicing cutting and changing direction using the outside edge helped a lot as well as balance wasnt an issue, just focusing in on digging that outside edge into the ice to change direction. My issue right now is center of balance when doing the one footed stops. I can do it but i usually tip over the stopping leg too much. Ive been doing the inside edge stops forever and my muscle memory is so honed that so doing the other foot is really really tricky.
@@dansprogis4521 @Dan Hi, thanks for your quick tips. Yeah, I've also got the impression that breaking cautiously (i.e. beginning by touching the ice softly) with the toe of the front foot's outside edge 'before' respectively 'to start' a tight turn helps a little bit to get a feeling of breaking with the outside edge. I hope doing this is not a false friend = actually teaches me a wrong technique...
6:17 45 years old and started skating again after 20 yrs. 1 year later its all back except this. Was never caught this in the 80s and 90s. This and soo many other strats/skills/moves
Rec skater returning to ice at 77...these drill instructions by Mr Beck are so helpful. Making edges work for stability is a plus for confidence. Those hockey stance basics zaps the wobble. Thanks!! Mike
I'm no hockey player, just a dad who has a daughter who's really got into skating. We've been using hockey style hire boots and she loves them - when we tried figure skates she didn't like the jagged stop or tail (neither did I). We can get around the ice OK, but these drills are fantastic and simple just to get confidence and muscle memory.
Awesome video, great drills. I hope that maybe next time he can break down a bit more of balance or positioning of the weight distribution on the edges. For instance stopping on an outside edge(my nemesis). He’s an awesome skater. I’m definitely hitting that subscribe and like button!!!
I have just visited the ice rink, after stopping playing hockey for the „Junghaie“, It’s been almost 2 years since I stopped playing.. Was a weird feeling and a lot of chest pain after realizing I can’t skate like I used to. Thanks for the video, gonna use it for a couple more sessions, hopefully I get my skate skills back soon ❤
At 4:22...proof that Steve Baek should try out for the Canadian National Mogul or Slalom Ski Team...mad skills. Awesome vid. Think I might have to move to London, Ontario to attend his hockey school..

Ok. First i should say that im old and i suck at skating I recently found out that paul coffee (who i ive always idolized along with s sandis ozolinsh) apparently wore skates like 3 sizes smaller than his shoes to really isolate his feet in his skates and had to get his skate laces cut off after games. Hearing this I went down an additional 1/2 size (cant stand to have my toes any more cramped then they already were in there) and it might be purely psychosomatic but i feel like o have more control over my edges now. We'll see if it persists.

This especially applies to hockey
@@Think--Twice You missed the joke. He said heart because of the way the coach talks.

God this guy's skating is so insanely satisfying to watch, just effortless. So many good drills too! Shoutout to Cam & Strick for the shoutout!

You make those outside edge stops look easy. Makes me feel like im learning how to skate all over again.
Exactly. Would really appreciate some detailed tips on how to outside edge stop.

Just did them right from the beginning. I combine them with crossovers. Just lean in and try to get comfortable with that

What a great video! Saved it to favourites. Will watch this over and over with my son. Such a smooth skater!

Don't see the crossover jump-back drill at 6:30 done often. Seems very beneficial.
dude is amazing...makes me want to move to London, ON. Keep up the awesome work
Incredible teacher. So smooth.
A life time of work to get to his level of skating. Mixture of strength and flexibility that is really admirable. Definitely NHL level skating coach.
8:24 thats a great drill. I really need to practice these outside edge one foot stops.
Excellent drills.
Whenever I have enough time before any skate I try to practice some of the these drills and they help the skate go a lot better!

that outside edge stop on 5:55, how do you do that? Can you please make a tutorial step by step to get it done?

Anyone knows (+ could post a link to) a thorough tutorial how to outside edge stop?
Keep your heart up, now that is encouraging

Love the slalom
Hey I have a video idea you don’t have to do it but it is how to get a harder shot and how to aim better while shooting
We will put that on the list! 🙌🏼
Great!!!
Awesome
great moves
5:29 most of the times I'm not smoothly sliding but quickly bouncing :/ Is the skate too sharp?
it could be sharpness, not using the inside edge, or putting weight on the front of the blade!
Très bonne explication!
Thank you for your special lecture at Redlion, a Korean youth hockey team.
Who the heck is the cameraman following in that drill? Kept everything stable and followed perfectly.
Hey can you do roller work drills because its way to hard !
Are my edges to sharp for the outer edge one legged stops (punch stops), everytime i try it feels like my blades getting caught in the ice?
Migth be but I guess your weight isn't shifted properly. Greets from germany

Hey do you think you could do a rollerblading vidoe because not a lot of us can rent ice for cheap because near me it's like 300$
I hear ya. We have some rollerblading videos on the channel. Also some off ice edge work drills you can do as well!
What kind of profile do you have on your blades?
Can you do the slalom without a stick, or is a stick recommended?
Either works!
