    Hey Eric, I always watch atleast one of your hunting videos every morning while I’m taking my coffee (that somehow makes me start my day), and this is one of my favorites… that last point of Sisi (your dog, not sure how you spell it) where the field was so plain then all of a sudden a huge covey of huns suddenly emerged… that’s really Epic man. Thanks for sharing and hope you keep on doing them Sir.👍🏻

    This was my first year bird hunting went with my grandpa to South Dakota and I am hooked... the losing the keys I did the exact opposite and I looked my keys in my truck before we started hunting on the very first days all guns and vest locked in while it was 20 degrees out lol... but this year definitely has me hooked looking into getting a dog of my own and more trips in the future for sure

    Hi Eric , great video it is helping me get through lock down in the UK. Love them sharpies and huns .We can run our dogs on red grouse and pheasant (plus a bit of goose hunting) .I run a smooth vizsla and my mate a vizsla x GSP cross. We have trained both dogs to stop on flush and not to run in to shot .We then decide which bird the dogs are allowed to retrieve .

    • @ericforrester1
      @ericforrester1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Huns are good. Similar to phez and quail, light meat and mild. Sharpies are dark meat and are good if you treat like beef and cook medium rare. They get tough when over cooked.

    just heard you on 'Wing Addiction' podcast - just as you mentioned there, I also got into wild bird hunting with a pointing dog through training (especially for competition) - did that after learning the value of wild birds in training - I've got a brittany, currently AKC Senior Hunter and Field Champion titled - dog is steady till released in competition and steady till fall on the hunting field - every time I watch videos like this, I have to ask: why isn't the best dog on the field trained at least steady to shot ? you know it's not that hard to do and you know you'd loose 3 sec. (at the most) on the retrieval chase - I never shoot a bird my dogs bust or chase on flush and I rarely loose a cripple - surely you also know that if steady to shot you never have to pull a shot for safety of the dogs - with all respect, this is not rhetorical, I'm genuinely curious: why do you let your dogs chase on flush ?
