i know im almost a year late to the party but this build guide is going to help me so much when i do a similar swap myself in a few months, thank you so much for showing everying, the good and the bad, and explaining the reason behind your ideas!
Happy for you, that definitely scratched an itch of mine. I've been waiting to see this thing roll under its own power since you announced the project. Super cool man, keep up the excellent work!
As a Fellow gearhead and car enthusiast/builder I love the build. Frikkin orginal idea and this is gonna be awesome!!! Im building my wife a 72 240z and me a 66 F100 shop truck and between trying to build, film and edit its a grind!! Good luck with the channel bro!! This build should gain some traction quick!!
Now imagine that but rear wheel wheel drive. Tubbed with trailer fenders front and rear. Initially I only planned to use tubing in the rear, around and in front of and behind where the axle is going to be. However I got a lot of ideas watching your build. That subie sound coming from that crx is amazeballs
Congratulations! I appreciate your videos as it has served as reference in my plan to also mid-engine my 86 CRX. I plan to installed a front subframe torsion suspension in my rear and use that to move my electric motor to the back. From there I'll split my battery pack to achieve 50:50 front rear. I look forward to seeing the car cleaned up. Right now it reminds me of the batmobile.
I love this! I've been watching this project for a looooong time. It's so cool to finally see it drive. Right now it looks like something straight out of Mad Max. Clearly this is the dumbest thing ever and it's so cool that you did it. I can't wait to see the end result!
Looking good sir! Only thing i would change is on the quarter window air intake ducts, i would make the top short side of the intake trapazoid a bit thinner so the ducts slant in a bit more
Back when there were more CRX doner cars around, I was considering putting a Cadillac 500/transaxle from an Eldorado in the aft of a crx. Eldo's were a lot more common back then too.
if you only momuntairily need to hold the brakes you could put an electric valve in the brakeline . aply brake flip switch to close the line toward the brakelever and then brakes stay on untill you unpower the electric valve , might be a nice thing to have if you want to load up the transmission before releasing it looking intoo the widebody part : might need to cut the outer skins of the doors and move them out , either wider at the rear compared to the front and fit the rearquarter to it (probably need the rear quarter to bow a bit more extreme to make it look less angle to the droorskin and tp flow a little nicer intoo the rear of the car wouldnt matter too mush if it doesnt cover the front and rear of the tiretread as you can add an arch straighten it out over the wheel , probably can just widen the frontfenders grille and stuff and move the lights out and back intoo the regulair spot in the fenders, depending on how you space the doors the would flow intoo the doorskins or have an airgap in the back , the airgap might be eazier as it allows you to shape the rear edge of the fender so the door doesnt hit it when fully opened
wait, real question--not an internet condescending question: are the radiator lines thick enough to push the volume you're anticipating? Fantastic fab work bro for real.
That fuel tank is a hazard. Gingium on YT lost his mid-engine Eclipse when he built a similar tank, mounted it like yours, and had someone turn left in front of him and had a minor accident....that resulted in a ruptured aluminum fuel tank, that burned the entire car to the ground. Spend the money on a hard-cased fuel cell with a rubber bladder.
Thanks for looking out! I've been meaning to address this - the tank will be sealed and encased. Just haven't gotten there yet. I also need to finish the front half of the chassis tubing. Gingium also didn't have any type of crash structure from what I've seen.
Haha those upper frame rails are gonna need a lot of massaging for clearance but I'm diggin this build. Shit's gonna look wild. I would definitely re shape those quarter window vents once you get a wide body idea going and flesh it all in but man, great progress.
Love it man! I have the same car, white 86Si. And planning on doing something similar with it also. 4cyl turbo rear engine. I also really want to figure out a center seat. It’s the steering that’s got me.
@@Enginuity how does your shifter feel? I have a short throw kit on my mr2 shifter but I think it’s not letting me in to 1st& 2nd going to pull it off and see how it feels this weekend
@uberkooledgarage6913 feels great and is actually really tight as is. I might look at a short shifter once I start tracking it but for now it’s shocking smooth
YEEEEEEEESSSS!!! so happy for ya man.. goosebumps and chopped onions of joy going in here.. congrats! The rest should be smooth sailing from here
Thanks man! Hopefully not jinxing myself, but seems downhill from here for sure
The car is gonna blow up on the internet one day
We’ll see
Maybe sooner than later. I have never heard of this channel until right now, and this popped up in my recommendations
@@garage2tracksame it was recommended to me today as well.
I'm surprised it hasn't already
Too late
Man this should have more views
🤷♂️

Thank you, I really appreciate the support!
Well Done she’s alive🤟🏻

@@Enginuity haha Imagine my wife when she walks in the garage and her Z is missing 😂 😂
@DustyMacsGarage 🤣🤣🤣
I am really happy for you
i am glad you got this far its been great to watch
Only thing left todo is everything as they say
Thanks! Yep, everything lol

batmobile is high praise, i'll take it lol
glad TH-cam showed me this video. good job!!
Awesome - thanks!
Saw the title and was like wtf? Saw you drive it and I understand now. Its like a homemade budget Porsche. very cool idea
when it's done, plan is to take it to the porsche track day by me and see how it compares
Huge milestone !!! EPIC !!!
Thanks!
Excellent job! I am sure that was a crazy mix of emotions flushing through you on the first drive. Looks awesome in the daylight
Thanks! Nerve-wracking and awesome at the same time lol
Magnificent. Always loved the CRX. Great and insane work. 👌👌👍👍
Subbed. Time to binge watch the entire series.
What a wicked build! Lots left to do!
Thanks! Definitely a lot left.

solid idea
Super cool man! Awesome job!
Thanks!
I’m not into imports, but!!! I want one!!! Bad ass car sir. Can’t wait to see it done
thanks!
That thing is one sick whip

JDM MadMax Awesome!!

Omg respect my friend
*high five*
Dude, this thing's rad! 👌
thanks!

the good ol' days
Great work!!
Thanks!
For safety reasons, I would cover the fuel tank with fiberglass and epoxy resin. Like ir was done in aviation when aluminium sheet was used.
That's a great idea

looking intoo the widebody part : might need to cut the outer skins of the doors and move them out , either wider at the rear compared to the front and fit the rearquarter to it (probably need the rear quarter to bow a bit more extreme to make it look less angle to the droorskin and tp flow a little nicer intoo the rear of the car
wouldnt matter too mush if it doesnt cover the front and rear of the tiretread as you can add an arch straighten it out over the wheel , probably can just widen the frontfenders grille and stuff and move the lights out and back intoo the regulair spot in the fenders, depending on how you space the doors the would flow intoo the doorskins or have an airgap in the back , the airgap might be eazier as it allows you to shape the rear edge of the fender so the door doesnt hit it when fully opened
Ooooo line lock… I like it!
Just so good!
🤘
Damn, a lot of work for 250 hp.
But it actually came out pretty clean
Cool, unique car.
Subscribing for some rally action
psssh two hundred fifty ONE hp
How this chanel disnt have millions of subs etc is beyond me
Great job dude
Thanks man! Can't wait to see yours hit the road too
This car is an abomination....and I absolutely love it.
🤘
This is awesome.
thanks!
Amazing proyect
Thanks man!
wait, real question--not an internet condescending question: are the radiator lines thick enough to push the volume you're anticipating? Fantastic fab work bro for real.
they should be, they're .0625" larger than Porsche lines; but I won't know for sure until I get it on track and start pushing it
Awesome 😎
This is bad ass!!
🤘
Sweet ride.
🤙
This is a swap. 💪🏿

@@Enginuity Cant wait to see the finished build! First subie swapped honda?
I doubt it, tho I personally haven’t seen one

70’s era 911 steering racks are center-driven, pricey tho
I've never seen ' inverted ' heel-toeing. May give that a try just to see what it feels like.
Me either
What’s going on brotha?! We need an update, even just a short vid explaining where things are at. hope to see an update soon!
thanks for checking in! just posted an update video :)
👏👏👏 heck ya yours first drive went better than mine but I had atleast 80% of my floor 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 no floor = proper nether region ventilation 🍻

Very cool build!! What transmission is this running?
Oh nevermind found your other video!!
The real question is how long will it last lol
I love it
Thanks!
What transmission do you use? Im trying to ej swap a mr-s
Subaru 5 speed
Is the shifter from an MR2?
it sure is

FYI- Your intro thing stays;
blah blah blah automotive expert.
But your logo is a motorcycle sprocket
camshaft timing sprocket :)
Can you make it AWD? 🥹 please reply, I’ve searching everywhere if that would be possible.
You’d have to run the engine in the front. If going Subaru, with a Subaru transaxle/rear diff; or Honda, run a CRV transaxle/rear diff
