      @@nathank2289 I disagree. He was always supposed to be in the entire show as the secondary character. They just ham-fisted the Jedi training part in to make him more capable faster, retconning the audience into thinking he's gone to score some cheap emotional points.
      They should have done a training thing way earlier and not made him so incompetent in the first place. You tell me that, even though his species is slow-growing, 50 years of experience around other people, a lot of that actively being schooled, isn't even enough for his brain to start speaking even basic words?
      Human babies speak at 2 years, and Grogus' species lives about 10 times as long, so even if you extend linearly, he should be able to speak words at least by the age of 20.
      I'm fine with Grogu if they made him an actual character. Have him speak actual words and do useful things, and not be basically an annoying escort quest NPC.

      @@DrTheRich That's possible but unlikely. He came back in the middle of an entirely different show AND that part was not in the "previously on" catch up. Now that he is back he has no agency at all. Before he was R2D2, not a main character but still helped out the team. Now he is C3PO, just there so people can talk to him to fill time. That all tells me he was shoehorned into a show that he wasn't expected to be in. I think before Gina got fired and all John's plans went to shit, Grogu would have trained with Luke to return in the "Avengers Assemble" season.

    • @DrTheRich
      @DrTheRich ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nathank2289 Not at all unlikely. The thing they did with the episode in a different show, just shows their incompetence of planning out and managing the show.
      But it's pretty obvious, the entire show has always been about the adventures of Mando and Grogu. he isn't just a character he eventually runs into, like Gina's character. from very early in the show they became a clan together. Very obvious he's meant to be a core part of the two man team, even if he just took the role of a droid (bad choice imo). He was in the promo material for the start of the show, before his cuteness was even known. (his hand from the floating pod)
      It's possible they meant to bring him back later in the season, since his training is supposed to have taken a long time changed that plan when things got messed up. because now they were lacking an important other side character. That doesn't mean he was written off the show, and wasn't meant to be there. It's pretty reasonable to assume his going away always had the primary purpose to increase his capabilities to make him a more active character from then on. Not to get rid of him.
      Yes Disney itself does a lot for merch, but not literarily everything is only ever about merch for the showrunners. It's reasonable to have become cynical, but that doesn't mean your cynicism is always true. You really think the execs were ok with having their cash cow written of the show from the start, but then change their mind half way through the series?
      You just got duped by the retconning, you have yet to see it.
      I'll guess we'll hear more about it as more interviews come out from the creators.

    Some "reliable sources" inside Disney have claimed that the first season of The Mandalorian was actually based on a finished screenplay for a separate Boba Fett movie that was never made. This would help explain the rapid decline in quality and consistency since then, sorta like when Game of Thrones ran out of original material and tried to imitate.

    • @QrazyQuarian
      @QrazyQuarian ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm of the opinion that Jon Favreau has had his creativity stifled by Kathleen Kennedy, as seen in Book of Boba Fett. Until that stunted slime is out of Jon's sight for good, Mando and all the other projects he's been behind are going to suck ass. We have evidence that KK has thrown monkey wrenches into projects including but not limited to: greenlighting expensive set pieces and props (Vespas) just because it would piss him off, rewriting scripts to include woke propaganda and/or sequel trilogy bullshit, deadlocking creative decisions Jon wants to take, firing actors and other employees marquis to Jon and Dave's success with their shows--and much more.
      The proof is in the pudding: anything that managed to get by KK's radar (the triumphant return of Luke Skywalker being chief among them) has been so good for the health of the franchise that the influx of viewers literally crashed the Disney+ servers at one point--a problem Disney is likely never to encounter again. I refuse to believe the same guy who gave us hope that Star Wars would be good again, the same guy responsible for jumpstarting the MCU, the same brilliant partner in crime responsible for many of the creative decisions behind Avatar: the Last Airbender--these geniuses would not drop the ball so hard if it weren't for the literal track record behind their boss. Kennedy has, with evidence to back it up, been jealous of the success of others (particularly men), George Lucas, and the overwhelming support of Star Wars projects made by better minds. We've seen pictures of Luke Skywalker's face being crossed out, we've heard soundbytes of her saying that Gina Corano is going to be a problem; we've seen the deconstruction, emasculation, and assassination of the greatest characters in the galaxy far, far away while promoting infinitely-inferior ones. I find it baffling that Jon Favreau could be even accused of making bad media when his track record speaks for himself, whereas Kathleen Kennedy is constantly defending decisions that have torn down the galaxy and divided the fans of the biggest entertainment franchise in human history. She's the ones who approves the stories, she's the one who kiboshes ideas, and she's the one who insists on butting heads with the one competent creator that's made her money. This is all her.

Since the Mandalorians have been forced to eek out an existence on the fringes of society, and are low on resources, it kind of makes sense for their armor to look scavenged and cobbled together (not to mention; I'm sure Mandalorians care more about function than fashion). It would be less believable if they all had shiny, new armor that looked like they just bought it yesterday (like all the rest of the costumes on that show).

    It's actually amusing how fast they were able to destroy Mandalorian. It kicked off so strong, at least in my opinion. A western vibe. Unexpected father-child bond. Exploring culture of mandalorians for the first time. Taking a look at post Episode VI Star Wars for the first time (Sequels are not canon as far as I'm concerned). And then suddenly, everything is pointless. Grogu was supposed to stay with Luke. That was the whole grand quest. But now he is back with Mando, as if there was no Season 2. Moff Gideon was supposed to be dead. Mando was tracking him down for countless episodes leading to a final showdown. But now he is back, as if there was no Season 2. The cult of Din's Mandalorians were supposed to be basically extinct. But now there is more of them then there was in Season 1. As if there was no Season 2 (and 1). It suddenly became apparent to me, that this show is about nothing. Whatever happens, can be just undone next season. Whatever the goal of the quest is, it's probably not gonna matter in a few episodes. They are just gonna milk this show until it's worse than Rebels, and then it'll come to an awkward resolution. It's sad to say really, but Mandalorian should've ended with Season 2. It was a satisfying conclusion of the series. There was no reason for Din and Grogu to ever meet again other then to just milk the show. It finally became obvious to me.

      I agree with your points. Not only that Grogu was supposed to stay with Luke, they had to do the Mandalorian show dirty by reuniting Grogu with Din in the Book of Boba Fett show. IMO, the Mandalorian Season 1 & 2 are really good, while The Book of Boba Fett was mediocre at best, and that's why they make an episode about Grogu's reunion with Din there to make people watch and get invested in the show because the two characters that we like and care about show up in there.

    • @TheSmokingMustache
      @TheSmokingMustache ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Friend of mine and I constantly chat about movies and stories and come up with better ideas for them. Boba Fetts show should have been him deciding to become a mandolorian warlord following what his father taught him, becoming and opposing force to Bo Katan and the Cult. All three of which should be building their forces and trying to convince Mando to join their side, turning it into a large political military situation. Which then ends with an empire remnant group showing up and they call a truce to destroy them. Mando ends up uniting them as one people with different clans and they start the restoration of Mandolore. I threw in that an interesting end would be that due to Mandos relationship with Grogu and the other jedi that they make peace and the Mandolorians assist the Jedi by going with them for exploration and peace keeping. Now, this isn't the best story that could be done, but we came up with it in like 10 minutes and ita waaaaay more interesting than what we've got since season 2

      Also Boba going into the Sarlacc pit with his ship at such close range,was idiotic af,since his armor is unbreakable,he could just bomb the sarlac and then enter the cavity/body,to get his armor,but no he had to look str8 into the sarlac from 2 ft.with his whole ship,and they almost blew themselves up

Din having never been to Mandalore could've been the setup for some good stories and interactions as his cult had always prided themselves on being "true" Mandalorians, but when he arrives he realizes that everything he knows about the planet from his tribe is all wrong and he's treated like an outsider by the residents of the planet because he's essentially the Star Wars version of a foreign weeb going to Japan and thinking its gonna be exactly like anime.

    The show is making the same damn mistake I see everywhere. The male lead, who was supposed to be strong, tough, smart and in-control is having those qualities subverted by being the butt of sight-gags and needing to be rescued by side characters. This is happening in a lot of cinema, but it's the same mistake they made with Boba-Fett, Obi-Wan, Luke, Finn. Especially for men I feel, we need to respect the main character to like them, and want to see more. We enjoy the content because we project ourselves into similar situations. But who wants to imagine themselves as a weak buffoon who makes poor strategic decisions and needs saving by everyone else?? That's why we're switching off.

      Sounds like you are becoming more critically aware. That's good; you've taken your first step into a larger world...where there are fewer and fewer quality films and programmes.

      @@KeldorDAntrell Not so much that ( I always have been critical as I'm an eternal cynic!). Mando is essentially a TV show made up fetch quests, and I hate fetch quests as they get boring fast. It's a show made up of filler content and no substance. I have no desire to watch even the two episodes that were good again, so even they weren't exactly good either. One positive I feel that has come from the pandemic, is people watched a lot of older movies, TV etc, and noticed a serious decline in quality and have since checked out. Story telling and character growth have simply been replaced by 'the message' and cut and paste levels of creativity. I never really watched TJ Hooker when I was a kid, but I'm loving it at 49! Not great, but o so much better. But it still pales in comparison to Miami Vice. Or at least the first two seasons.

      One was good, not amazing, just solid. It was surrounded so by so much Star Wars rubbish it was a shinning light that the universe was getting better so the fans supported it. Sadly as soon as it was successful it think it lost its independence and all the hacks jumped in.

    “Killing each other… made us weak”
    Umm how? Is she saying that weak mandalorians killed all the strong ones? Because that, like most everything in neostarwars, makes no sense.

      Once they let Boba Fett air, I knew we were in trouble for this season. That shit should have been shelved for the good of the brand. No balls, no leadership and no creativity left.

      i finished season 1 and although some episodes were good most were subpar. the mandalorian is regarded as the biggest badass in the universe but in almost every episode he stumble bumed thru a fight only not getting killed by shear luck or happenstance. watched 2 ep of the 2nd season and gave up on it. now im getting far more entertainment watching reviwes of season 3 and laughing my ass off. we had made a grave error trusting in Jon Favreau. star wars is dead.

    They made a show which had great writing, took its time and everything felt earned. And people said it was boring.
    So I guess maybe this is what people want. I agree though, especially the rescue scene with Grogu. There’s no sense of time there. How long did it take? How far away is Bo? Was it minutes or hours? I have no idea.
    Bo spending all day sat on a throne in a empty room doesn’t seem logical. There’s just lots of little things this season which are adding up.
    Truthfully I’m still enjoying the show but this is definitely a decline in writing quality from prior seasons.

    Holy CARP that "grogu go send a raven to Danerys" part blew my mind. Doesn't Mando have all sorts of weaponry built into his suit? Why not just shoot the little frog robot with his wrist blaster?

    Bringing baby yoda back has killed the show, they could have done something interesting without him but Disney would rather sell merch than tell a good story. Plus mando isn’t the main character in his own show.
