Funny isn't it... The mutability of the English language. Stricken is a past participle verb, so 'technically' it is OK, but grammatically 'struck' is generally more acceptable. I'm with you, it does jangle with me a bit. But I just see it as one of @Enforcer's little mannerisms.

Yes the USA should protect its own presence there in the middle east. This is not necessarily any particular country there. Why? Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all stem from Zorastrianism. The Prophet Daniel is considered a saint in all four religions. The middle east was the cradle of civilization and the USA is the pinnacle of civilization.
