RU has only managed to occupy 1/5 of Ukraine's territory at colossal costs. RU's military is being hollowed out, international economic ties are diminished and innovative potential is damaged. The industrial base can't sustain the war in its current intensity. At the same time Ukraine operates as technology intensive as possible, has strong partners and plays the interrnational game well. RU will pay a huge price for Putin's imperial obsession.

      My main issues with his take are:
      1) He admits he doesn't know what the Ukrainian losses were.
      2) Seems to downplay that battle caused Prigozhin to lead a mutiny which had massive impacts on Russian moral.
      3) For all intents and purposes lead to the removal of Wagner from Ukraine which was by most accounts their "best" units.
      Don't get me wrong Ukraine had significant losses and you can argue Russia mainly lost convicts, but I think the trade-offs in the end were well worth it.

    All you had to do to know he was going to invade , was track the MONEY , when the troops , moved from standing camps & food kitchens , to spread out and away from field kitchens , the troops where issued individual ration packs , thats the trigger , as its way, way cheaper to feed troops in bulk thru field kitchens etc , than issue individual rations .
    When I saw them move from concentration of troops , to being spread out , I knew he was going to invade , the cost is very high when you move your troops onto ration packs , most people have no idea as to the very high cost , we are talking of 3-5x the cost or more .

    I get that “Custer’s last stand” is a figure of speech but a couple of things…
    1. Azov made a valiant effort and does seem to have been an inspiration, but they surrendered. They did not fight to the last man as is implied in the conversation.
    2. I don’t know if it is because they’re Brits and unfamiliar with American military history, but not at all analogous to what occurred in Mariupol. Custer was the aggressor, and pursued and initiated the Lakota Sioux and friends, and arguably being an arrogant and tactical buffoon who confronted a larger force he lost. While a resounding defeat for the US, not even half the regiment were casualties.
    3. They use this as a term of endearment. Nearly nobody in the US who graduated college since the late 1960’s would use this term with a positive perspective unless they were some brainwashed military brat. In the US Custer’s Last Stand implies foolishness, arrogance, willful ignorance, not the bravery they are attempting to conjure.

    As mentioned, the Russian, so called 'superpower' shouldn't have to be begging for help from third World countries, which of course they are. To need help from N. Korea, S.Africa and Iran is so pathetic, it's laughable.

      "According to the Kremlin, Russian ships are there for joint military exercises..hilarious.
      Now the Russian so called 'superpower' needs help from another third world country, Cuba. Cuba, a country that can't feed it's people, or even keep the electricity going.
      It's even funnier than needing help from S. Africa and N. Korea.
      I do agree though with your conjecture that the ships are there for 'safety'. Ships sent from the frontline during a war which Russia can't manage. As I mentioned previously, this reminds me of when the Iraqis sent their planes to Iraq, thinking the planes would be safe there."
      Within a 24 hour period, Putin issued one of his usual, ineffective threats, and pleaded for a ceasefire three times. Vlad the failure is getting desperate."

    There were couple things that I'd disagree on but dont have completely concrete stance myself so it's up for discussion however one thing that I can't let slip is comments about Ukrainian counter offensive, they did not start it, they were forced to do it. Few months back I went through whole timeline of available data, articles etc. It's terrifying if I'm being honest if it's true what is available in public, in essence Americans pressured them to go in because they needed some results for equipment they send. So i went and checked what equipment , when and in what quantities was sent. Not even bare minimal that zaluzhny asked was provided. He asked for 300 tanks. So west delivered way more on paper I thik 800 or something of which majority was leo1. Sane with ifv and APC and everything else.

    • @davidboskett5581
      @davidboskett5581 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Totally agree Ukraine was forced to conduct a counter offensive when they lacked the resources.However it was more of a political decision for Ukraine as they had to prove to their Western backers that they were willing to fight back and in doing so deserved to be given more destructive weapons.And they had had quite a lot of success in the year before pushing the Russians back which gave them and their US backers the encouragement that they would be successful.However they would have known that the Russians had built up a very strong defensive line during the winter and without the right equipment it was folly to expect to be successful .A few more tanks were not going to make any difference as they needed long range artillery and air cover.

    • @stuartburns8657
      @stuartburns8657 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Agree. Given the disparity in manpower, the West 'encouraging' a counter offensive without air power, across trenches, tank teeth, millions of mines and artillery bombardment was a disgrace.

    • @zooziz5724
      @zooziz5724 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@davidboskett5581 that counter offensive is all USA and Germany forcing Ukraine to act. There's a long article on it how US military "allegedly" was war gaming and came to conclusion that concentrating all power in one spot and push through was the best choice. But russians did exactly that kn Voledar during the war gaming and we all know how that ended.
      I read on USA even more recently and ir appears that USA tend to lose a lot of war games when they are put on even grounds when it comes to equipment or more then often they lose when they have one component disabled air, navy etc., while the opponent is still weaker by numbers and fire power , Americans still lose. These are stories from NATO excersises so it's anecdotal but if before I'd discard them, now after Ukraine debacle I have to think that some of it is true.
