Unboxing/test: 2020 Epiphone ES-339 Pro (Pt 1) (pre-Inspired By Gibson model range)

Having had some back worries for a while when I played my 9.2 lbs Gibson Les Paul, I decided to order online, this 7.2 lbs Epiphone ES-339 Pro (as I recall I once found the smaller body ES shape nifty while testing a few years ago).
Highlights:
1. Most surprisingly, the fret edges were smooth - for a guitar in this price range.
2. The cherry finish looks even better in person than it does in pictures on the Swee Lee Singapore website, where I ordered it online, for SGD$699.
3. By the way, in the unplugged & plugged tests, the cherry finish looked the same even after I used Clorox wipes to clean the guitar upon arrival (especially in this Covid-19 era).
So the polyurethane gloss finish actually holds up well!
Verdict:
For the price, that is a lot of guitar and also, more-than-expected quality at the same time.
This is from the one of the final 2020 range of models with older headstocks, just before the latest "Inspired By Gibson" range was released publicly.

My nephew gave me a 2017 Epiphone es 339 (vintage sunburst) out of nowhere, just..here ya go. Even had the epiphone branded 339 hardshell case! I found the versatility of this guitar is just amazing. I'm mainly a metal (LTD EC256) and lofi jazz (the 339) player and being able to play and not have to switch guitars often is great. This might replace my LTD as my main.
Hi Leviathan, the most underrated thing abt the 339 shape, is when you play it standing up, you can really groove with it quite easily. Because of my body size, I found that 335s were not suited. And I'd rather own something I can really play with and not because it is deemed as more valuable in the resale market.
I had been thinking of getting the hard case, easier to clean. Normal soft bags collect dust easily. Enjoy your Epi 339 man, a good setup goes a long way, as I recently did, in a series of latest videos. The LTD looks killer though, but enjoy your discovery process!
My 339 was saved by my daughter for me because when they loaded the trailer they forgot to put it on when I moved to louisiana and I'm glad they did because someone broke into my apartment and stole my guitars! If it had been there they would've taken it! The original is my favorite over the inspired by Gibson! I like the Rosewood fretboard and the original headstock better than the new ones! My LP MUSE has the new headstock and it doesn't stay in tune better than the original headstock does!
I didn't know until yesterday they sell 2 versions. One has coil tapping and one doesn't. Same price. They discontinued the Ultra and the p90s version.
I've had mine for 4 years and I still haven't modified it.

I AMP it using the acoustic mode. I play clean with effect turned off.
