  • The guitar is my Epiphone ES-339 Pro from 2020.
Very good wood aesthetics for the price! But I needed hardware upgrades after a year of playing it:
For the sound for this video of stills, I used a chorus, reverb and delay pedals straight to a Fender Champ amp, with an AKG Lyra USB mic placed near it.
Direct in one take, to go from a dry sound, before I add the effects one by one for an 80s sound.
Goose (owner of Gworx one-stop repair/luthier/pedal maker in Singapore: www.gworx.sg/) suggested the following besides his usual slinky action and set-up
    1. Epiphone hardware was replaced by much lighter and sturdier Gotoh bridge and stop bar, better intonation & more confidence when playing
    2. Plastic nut replaced by bone, CTS pots, Russian PIO (paper in oil) caps, 3-way Switchcraft toggle switch
    3. 50s wiring for more rounded tone roll-off
    4. Seymour Duncan Alnico II Slash (previous Epi Alnico Classic pickups were loud but rather wild, so you have to control your playing and tones, whereas the Slashes offer more compression and maintains a sweet tone and balance with a semi-hollow body)
The hardware upgrades have given me confidence to play this better!
