It's SUCH a handsome room now and it blew me up laughing and nodding along about the change-resistant man. I bow before you for your courage and him for digging the positive changes. I really appreciate seeing how much good stuff you could do with stuff you have plus a bit extra. Like, this room just looks like real life but with thoughtfulness and careful work - it's really sharp.
Aww, thank you! You know the struggle is real! I'm telling you--he did NOT want me touching this room. But I was like, "Dude, it's THE messiest room in the house, and it needs to get done." He really appreciated it when I was done. I think he just didn't have my vision. I don't think I even had a vision, because I was limited in what he would allow me to do (I wanted to make a DIY desk but he was adamantly against that. LOL). But in the end, it all came together nicely!! Thank you, so glad you like it!
That sweet smile on his face at the end......was EVERYTHING! Love how you broke through his resistance & provided an organized, creative workspace peppered with character & love for him. Well done.

I love that you use the phrase “It’s good enough.” Perfectionism has been a harsh taskmaster for my whole life. “Good enough” offers a much better perspective for me with much less stress and discontent. The room looks beautiful. He cannot help but enjoy working there without the chaos.
I 💜 *everything* about this make-over! My family is still in pre-move mode & everyone is planning how they're going to decorate their rooms, except my son. I showed this to him & the said that he'd like a room like that!!! 😮 {shock and awe!} My son is a creature of habit & hates change too, so it's a win/win. Tfs!!!
Goodness me! That is an amazing change for a relatively small cost, especially considering the way it feels and looks afterwards to the general storage blah room from before. It's ready for your hubby to have a good and creative day - a space specifically for him - it's wonderful!

Love that blue and I sure love your videos. Helpful hint: If you used an extension pole with the roller, and stand back a bit, you can make longer strokes and your arms won’t tire.
The finished product turned out very well. I have a home-office space that could really draw from the creative ideas you've put into place here. Thanks for the ideas and we'll put them to good use.

I don't use painters tape, but I use a squeegee to protect the ceiling and paint up to it... then move it along to protect the area you don't want painted.

It became so open en organized, looking good, Serena. So recognizable, got a son like that. One big letting go there. And also, the wolfing down the food leaving non left. My friend once put the chocolate in her washing machine to prevent her son from eating it. When she sneaked to it to take a piece she found a note with "clever, mom, it was delicious" XD

Yeeess, he is! The funny thing is that while I was working on his office, he relocated to the walk-in closet (remember I put a desk in the walk-in closet I built?). Now, he won't come out of the closet because he's "afraid to mess up the new office." HAHA That tells me that he really likes it!

Looks great! I have the same problem with my husband, he resists changing anything, even if I want to paint a white wall white 🤣. After I went rogue and painted my office and the kitchen, now he asked me to paint his office too. That blue looks like the color from Behr that I use a lot, Bon Nuit. Love it. The room turned out fantastic.
