- This is one of my most embarrassing piles of clutter: my hallway closet!! I wanted new DIY closet shelving and more organization. My hallway closet was stuffed full of linens we don't use, expired medicines, and closet shelving with particleboard covered in old contact paper. Now that is a HUGE difference! We have exactly 3 closets in our house. A linen closet that's about a third the size of yours; a master bed room closet that, in comparison, is really big, but is about a third the size of our daughter's closet, and a small bedroom closet in the spare room. This is why we still use dressers and also why I keep our off season clothes in roll away boxes under our bed. I have to get rid of linens/blankets/comforters that we've been carrying around with us for way too many years. You're my inspiration!
What is it about blankets that we hold on to? LOL. Maybe it's just their comfort we hold on to. Glad to inspire you to think about getting rid of ones you don't need.

Serena, Serena, Serena... I did not forget ya!!! On my word I have been working on the garage. How naïve was I to think I could make it through in one day!!! But, man oh man the progress that was made. I def. took before pics. I have a buddy coning over this Monday and we should be completely finished bye then. I can't wait to send you all the pics.!!! Yes! Yesterday my youngest son had cut his foot and I said to him happily, "Well, let's open the closet and find the band aids RIGHT HERE!" Felt like such a big win even though it was so small. :)

Yasss! Girl, I was feeling VERY lazy with this closet. I didn't feel like cutting new shelves...didn't feel like pre-staining...LOL. But cutting corners means you don't get as good of an outcome, so you just gotta work through it. I listen to a lot of talk radio when I work so it passes the time (you'll notice I'm often wearing my headphones in my videos! LOL). Yes, go purge and let me know how it goes!

Thank you! I have done the pine boards in 3 closets of my home now and they always make them so much more improved for not a lot of money! All of the shelving was particle board with stained or peeling contact paper. ICK!
Last Christmas my husband and I went to visit a son and his fam
While we were gone I had the bathroom floors redone. The made both bathrooms look old and tired so I did a make over. New paint and new fixtures rugs etc. I guess the moral of my story is always be prepared when you freshen up one thing it may be like the domino effect. Love how your closet turned out. So nice. Loved the paint on the light fixture. Good job.

I love gasket containers! So helpful. My dad’s house is in thick vegetation’s so often little pests get in the house and into things. Totally great for storage.

I'm TIRED of cleaning out big piles! I am doing my best to put things back where they belong and being more mindful what I bring home! Less you bring home = less you have to find a place to store.

I learned the hard way that storing linens in plastic will cause them and the closet to smell overtime. I recently changed my linen closet to breathable bags and fabric totes. I also utilized a tip I found online.... Breezy dryer sheets in the Fresh Linen scent. Just leave a couple boxes open in closets. Smells amazing.
Oh, that's good to know, Rhonda! I thought about putting some "smell good" in the plastic box, too. I've noticed that just storing things in closets for a long time will cause them to smell, even without the plastic. I had hoped that the plastic box with that new foam lid will help to maintain them. I'll try the Breezy sheets next time!! I'll get some for my walk-in closet, too. Thanks for the tips!

I am re-doing closets right now. I painted the walls and ceiling with ceiling white, so they would pick up light when the door is opened.
Great look. My hall closer it over staircase and floor not flat and I can’t add laundry shoot. I added trim so TP has a place to rest and doesn’t interfere with door closing. It helps.
OK, you now have pushed me to clean out my closet.
