Yes i’ts true and also logical: scraping on the cuticles that are always a bit open even the low porous ones, will break the cuticles.

I unconsciously avoided silicones for a week (I tried a natural mask and shampoo) and my hair was dry and breakable. I couldn't even brush it. Awful. I am definitely not a person that should avoid them.

My hair was damaged and a mess, dry and ugly. Currently i started to use this silicone based leave in conditioner, my hair was transformed. Now it’s so soft and shiny, i cannot stop touching and staring at it. You could never tell it was damaged. I’m so impressed. I did worry if the silicone was harmful though, and that’s why i’m here.

@@voneyeva it very much IS a thing. Once you chopped of the damaged part it can grow back healthy, which wouldn’t happen if you don’t chop it. Because the damage crawls it’s way up for example.

Best video about silicone ever! I love science, I love truth, thanks for bringing such a good content. After years following the cgm, my once shining, full and healthy looking hair (silicone days) became brittle, EXTREMELY DRY, frizzy and half gone with bold patches, and that's how I put 1+1 and started researching about all this hatred about silicone.. It doesn't make any sense, so I'm back using my beloved silicones because our hair strands are dead, it will never get restored, and that's where silicone comes to help forming a good seal to make it look good. I have 3b curly hair and everyone always admired it until I started with this madness about cgm...I followed all the tips on washing and removing the co wash from the scalp, massage it well etc, but it just made me lose my hair :(
I'm going to start doing some cider vinegar scalp rinse to remove all the co wash build up, if you have a recipe for it please share with us :)

Yeah I noticed my hair has been getting more frizzy than usual, brittle as well, and my hair just feels weaker (I have fine hair).
Like yeah this whole movement for the cgm helped me find my curl pattern but I find my hair lifeless at the same time.

So relieved that I can start using silicones again for my crusty dry curly hair 😂. I strictly used natural products for the past seven years but was never very happy with them, they weigh down my hair and don’t really smooth my hair. I Will still use nutrient rich natural products but with dimethicone to seal everything in. I’m so glad I don’t have to use any harsh shampoo I can use more gentle ones. maybe every now and then something more harsh if there’s a lot of buildup.

I decided to go back to non curly specific products and my curls started curling to my roots again. A lot of curly products are too heavy for my hair despite it being very curly. I'm now convinced my hair is very fine in texture and seems to be medium to high porosity. Yet it doesn't like heavy products. But if I find lightweight yet moisturizing products I'm fine.

Yes, same! As much as he might be right scientifically, it just not right for me. I dumped ALL my products while I was changing my entire lifestyle and went on a journey of a completely plastic free bathroom.
I replaced all of my products with just three things: natural shampoo bar, natural conditioner bar, 100% pure argan oil.
Before, I made sure to have basically the perfect routine, balanced out the amount of silicones I was using literally the way he said would be fine - but it wasn’t.
Now that I got rid of all those silicones, my hair is fuckin blooming, it’s the best it’s ever been, my natural curls bounce like little maniacs and they shine so much I don’t even like it anymore lol.

But is it safe to use a sulfate shampoo then a silicone conditioner every day or every second day? Especially for people with curly hair? My main concern is that sulfates will strip/dry the hair and then the silicone conditioner will seal in that dryness. Or would the conditioner still be able to penetrate and moisturise the hair before the silicones seal it? Will a silicone conditioner be able to replace everything that the sulfate shampoo removed? And can your hair absorb any moisture from leave-in conditioners or hair/curl creams if you use a silicone conditioner?
