When I traded the word “Chores” for the word “Accomplishments” I was able to become more motivated to get things done-even get out of bed in the morning😂 Asking myself “What do I want to Accomplish today?” VS “What do I have to do?” Become more energizing.

      Hey, that's really good 👍🏻

That’s so wonderful! Everything feels better when we avoid the “should” feelings… 💫

This reminds me of the channels I've been watching that address changing your diet to get healthier. They state that we should write down our NSW (non-scale wins) since the scale (or our weight) is over-rated since it doesn't take into account that muscle weighs more than fat. So, for example we should be writing down things like; I feel more energetic, I am sleeping better, my acne has cleared up, etc. rather than how many pounds the scale says you weigh.

I used to be extremely tough on myself for not getting my to-dos done and discount anything else i did because that wasnt on the list. I now have a to do list on my phone where I also add in items that weren't planned that were completed that day. I feel so much better about what I get done in a day even if I don't get to all of my pre-planned ones. :)

Agree! We end up doing so much , almost automatically and we don’t give ourselves credit!

I haven't used stickers but have started using colored pencils (as highlighters). When I get something done I "cross" it off the list by coloring it in. After a while I get a whole rainbow of accomplishments going. No more boring check marks for me!

That is so smart ! I do not have ADHD but I have to declutter my home and it is not easy for me as I am a visual and micro organizer: a bee with lots of projects and interests and fantasy selves. This system will definitely keep my focused on the goals. Thanks !!!

I'm glad you found the system helpful! It's great to see that it can be beneficial even for those without ADHD. Keep up the good work!

Yes! Now I have something to do with all my stickers. So simple, but so effective. I’m a big list-maker. I’m going to try this method. Thanks!

I’ll make a to do list and then promptly misplace the list, like all the time!🙃
Maybe I’ll print the sticker chart and tape it to the wall. 🌟

There are chores that I want to get done on a weekly basis. I've associated the first letter of the weekday with the first letters of things I want to get done - that way there's no list to misplace. Example: Sunday = stairway (vacuum), Monday = mirror, microwave, etc. You get the idea. When I get the chores done for the day I can go and have guiltless "play".

I love that you’re using references when you quote studies. :) Three in my family have ADHD, two of whom also have Dyslexia and we ALL have anxiety. My son just went on medication in August and he’s loving school right now. My daughter is sitting for her official diagnosis tomorrow and is looking forward to starting her meds as well. My husband isn’t. Just isn’t. LOL! I like the Star List. I think I’ll use it for my grading. instead of calling it “grading”, I’ll call it “Give the students their feedback”. For the online parent portal, I’ll say, “Give the parents their check ins”. It may not make the task any more engaging (our online parent portal is cumbersome), but it reframes my thinking. :) Thank you for the idea!

Robyn, I love the psychology that you are incorporating into this. It makes so much sense and motivates my "science" button.

I need to start doing this so I can see what I have accomplished and focus on the good things not the bad.

I have a little gratitude book that you’re supposed to write every day at least 3 things you’re grateful for. I’ve had entries like “grateful I took the trash out” or “grateful I got wash done”. Now that doesn’t seem so trivial 😊 I’ll have to start using it or something similar to write accomplishments. I really like that idea! I need to get some stickers too - I love stickers!

I can't deal with paper, I have been noting everything I accomplish digitally in a text file. I also have all my to do lists digitally. I do like the starlist though.
