Love to watch how you melt when he sings. Out of all the people that have reacted to his singing, you have the best smile of every other one I have watched. Thumbs up B.
This is BY FAR my favorite Castellucci song to date. I just love how the arrangement perfectly matches the emotion of the song -- from depression to desperation -- while also showcasing his incredible range. Perfect.
You haven’t heard his upper register? It’s amazing how big his range is. At the very end of Oogie Boogie (Voiceplay), he goes from a B5 (full voice) down to an E1 in the span of 10 seconds. He’s got a full 5 octave range. (he’s done stuff down to A0).
I don't know where Geoff recorded an A0: What song was that? He got a B0 twice in Halo, and Layne nailed an A0 on an inhale note at the end of Sh-Boom. I really want to hear Geoff's performance with an A0, so if you can remember where that happened I'd appreciate knowing.
I'm glad you're appreciating the arrangement, because that is Geoff's work also! I lot of the songs that he has done that have been requested by fans have been old songs that originally were done in a very straightforward verse, chorus, verse, chorus with a standard arrangement throughout and he usually switches it up in imaginative ways while not going so overboard that you can't recognize the song. My personal favorite of his remains Shenandoah, for it's sheer beauty, but it's definitely not got the viewed numbers that a lot of his other videos have gotten. I also adore his latest, 'Rains of Castamere' from Game of Thrones, and if, like me, you never watched that show, believe me it's not necesary to have seen the series to appreciate that song.
Please do NOT resist "The Pause"! I can listen to the original any time I want and enjoy it as is. What you do for us to help those of us with untrained ears to understand WHY we are enjoying the performance so much. Your wisdom, experience and comments help me hear all the things that I miss. Afterward I can go back and listen to this performance (and to others) for the details that you point out. Your pauses are the reason I watch your reactions. Please don't skimp on them! I don't know if you've listened to more Voiceplay than you've reacted to, but you ABSOLUTELY need to react to more Voiceplay!!
Apart from the singing itself I love how his moving around both vocally and physically gives the impression of being "all over the place" when you're feeling this much angst. He's so clever.
You want to hear more, and we're here to accompany you on your trip. There's a spot in VP's cover of Enemy (@ 1:34) where Geoff suddenly rises from the depths up to join Alexa on a D5. Very low key, not showy - but man - just gorgeous. Shenandoah is one of my favorite of Geoff's: not as showy as some, but just beautiful.
Oh, I love Shenandoah also. But I love everything I've heard from Geoff. Also love Tim Foust from Home Free (Also an amazing range)and Avi Kaplan especially his solo stuff which isn't so much acapella but it brilliant
Your reaction was so much fun to watch!! You had me grinning the whole time. I subscribed after your reaction to Voiceplay's Hoist the Colours in anticipation of more reactions to them and to Geoff. My favorite of Geoff's solos is the one he did last Christmas, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. The arrangement is brilliant, truly. Next to that is Shenandoah, which is just sweet and beautiful and House of the Rising Sun where he is just showing off. As others have said about Goeff and Voiceplay, keep the closed captioning on. His captions are always descriptive, probably because his wife Kathy suffers from severe hearing loss, helped with hearing aids. And, he sneaks in humor from time to time (16 Tons and Way Down especially). Watch until the Patron list starts to roll, it ain't always over when you think it's over. I look forward to your next Voiceplay and Geoff reactions!
Thank you for this reaction. I'd been putting off delving into Geoff and Voiceplay but decided I'd take the ride with you. 3 days later I'm finally poking my head back out of the rabbit hole ... 😸
Great reaction! Geoff really is extraordinary. It was fun watching the different parts of his register affect you so viscerally; trust me, we've all been there. Whew!
He does about 30-40% singing when he's filming. Also - ALWAYS do three things with Geoff/ VoicePlay : 1.) Never stop till you see the Patrons list. 2.) Always read the credits in the description 3.) When closed caption is available, always have it on.
Geoff's Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold and Shenandoah are so good! I can't get enough. He has a fun bass run in VoicePlay's Tennessee Whiskey. Well...they all do. :D
Love your reactions Miss Lady, I know it’s an older video and you probably never see it but I learn a lot from you. I listen to things I never listen to and that’s awesome. Thank you Miss Lady.
Thank you for your reaction! You need to react to all of his "solo" stuff! A fun one is his cover of Elvis Presley's Way Down! He does an amazing presentation and has pure fun with it! It will amaze you and make you laugh!
More Geoff and VoicePlay reactions, please😁 I hope you stay in The Rabbit Hole with us! I enjoy hearing your professional perspective on my favorite group and my favorite singer!
Interestingly, Geoff originally wanted to be a rock tenor. His range is... just phenomenal, and I'm just completely wrecked every time he puts out a new video!
Love how you described what's going on to help a non-singer appreciate even more what we're enjoying and why. Geoff's incredibly talented and busy. There isn't a bad or boring song on his channel. He'll rip your heart out with this one and High & Dry, make you giggle with Monster Mash (cameo by his wife and production partner, Kathy) and don't drink anything while watching Way Down. Watch with captions on, read the video descriptions, and let them play until you see the Patron list scroll. Same advice for VoicePlay. There are really good reasons why 16 Tons and Misty Mountains have 10M views and it's not just because he's sleeveless. He's really menacing in Rains of Castamere, has fun with his buddy Layne in Saddle Up, dances and lets out his inner Elvis in Way Down, and is intimidating in Big Bad John. Blackbird and Shenendoah really showcase his range. But like I said, not a boring song in his collection. Pick any of them and you won't be disappointed.
Greetings!! second time watching your reactions that being said young lady....it was a sheer pleasure watching your reaction to this marvelous hauntingly moving rendition of "Aint no sunshine"...by Mr Castellucci! this is probably my personal favorite of Jeff's solo projects!! I enjoyed watching your reaction to what Jeff was doing and singing very much!! to say the least, You've made an instant fan of me lol!! lastly...your dazzling smile and lovely face.....is truly something to behold lol!! Take care and God Bless!!
Geoff has also done Monster Mash from Last year, plan on reacting to it for Halloween as well as his cover of Headless Horseman. A faster one might be 'Way Down' which came out .. 6 weeks ago?
Blackbird is another fantastic cover he does. I think that "High and Dry" is the one that showcases his range the best. I'm pretty sure it has one of his highest recorded notes.
I to love to see your reaction and direction for what an artist is doing to make their voice technique what it is. I personally don’t think the judges of the sing off knew the total amount of talent they had on their show that year! I am sure you will absolutely love Tim Foust with his solo channel as I will let you pick, some impressive doo wap songs! Low bass Kenneth
Excellent reaction! You should check out some more of his solo work, Misty Mountains, 16 Tons, House of the Rising Sun, Blackbird and Shenandoah are my favorites.
I feel so seen when people react with a nervous laugh when Geoff hits those low notes 😝 Also you’re puzzled face as the video goes on and you hear his range… very fun.
When he was young he really wanted to be a rock singer and sound like Chris Cornell, even though it maybe wasn't the best fit for his voice So he tried a lot of thing to be able to do the higher pitch rock singing, which is probably what we are still hearing when he goes up there in mixed voice :)
Geoff's amazing range is so well developed. His arranging skills are also no joke. If I could wish for one more element to this performance, it would be just a little bit of bluesy color. That's just my preference, though. NIce reaction, Bethany!
First time to your channel and this was such a great reaction and analysis. Hope to see more Geoff reactions. This is a more serious song and there are plenty of those. But also some very fun songs like Bear Necesssities and his recent Way Down, Elvis cover.
Another great bass singer is Tim Foust from Home Free. If you haven't already, check out Tim's cover of Will You Still Love Me/Stay and his cover with Austin Brown of My Maria!!
Geoff is truly THE master of this craft. His productions are simply stellar. Try his cover of Monster Mash or Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (both are tremendous). You will love both. VoicePlays cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters is beyond great BTW. Love your channel and those gorgeous pearly whites! What a glorious smile🥰
For his range, either blackbird or High and Dry would be great to react to. For his fun personality, you can't miss Way Down. It's hilarious with great vocals and even a butt wiggle. Misty mountain is great for his low range. Sixteen tons and Big John are just superb all around.
I’ve been binging a lot of your reactions and I love them I love the detail you go into. I don’t know if you take requests but if you do I’d love to see your analysis of Paolo nutini iron sky live at abbey road studios 🤞🏻
If you want to hear more bass singers. I recommend "The Bass Gang" They did a cover of Mad World which had 5 bass singers and the range on these guys is amazing.
Geoff Castellucci | Vocal Range | C♯1 - A5 | HD. As it applies to singing and the human voice, a subharmonic is one or several harmonics created below the fundamental harmonic where the fundamental is perceived to be lower than the original tone. Subharmonics occur when a singer's ventricular folds vibrate along with their vocal folds at the same time.
Hahah, that low part where Geoff says Yeah, it's fun to see when ladies especially instantly think how's his pillow talk would sound like. Bed shaking just by his bass alone. 🤣🤣🤣😅 And every guy would want that voice capability for themselves.
Great reaction... You have a fair bit to catch up on with Geoff... He's a busy guy with Voiceplay and his own channel. My personal favourite iis Shenandoah, then ain't no sunshine... But also love his 16 tons, bug bad John and for a bit of fun and self mockery his cover of Way down. 😊 Subscribing in the hope of more Geoff and Voiceplay.
Love this reaction. Geoff really knows how to make that deep bass voice sound silky smooth and rich-lovely quality all through his range. I hope you’ll go on to check out the other songs on this channel because they’re all terrific. You say you love bass voice, so can I suggest you check out The Bass Gang’s latest cover-Bones by Imagine Dragons? That’s another great bassy rabbit trail to enjoy.
I enjoy his "at home, just him" songs because when he is with VP, he balances his voice with them to not hog the center (other than ones like Oogie's Song), so you don't get to hear him do the whole array. These songs he really shows off, because he cannot upstage anyone.
Love Geoff. Probably in the minority but my favorites are Monster Mash and Misty Mountain. Love how much fun he has with Monster Mash in the choreography, arraignment and his wife's guest appearance.
I love watching and listening to you. I'd love for you do VoicePlay's latest of a Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me". A couple other Geoff's would be "High and Dry", "Blackbird" and for Halloween "The Monster Mash". Another fun Geoff solo is a cover of Elvis' "Way Down" complete with choreography too!
Yes you should check out his other solo's... So good!. Blackbird, Sixteen Tons, Misty Mountains Cold, Big Bad John, House of the Rising Sun, Monster Mash, etc... etc... The Geoff's always make a great video. Of course he keeps kicking them out with VoicePlay as well... I love Tim and Avi but Geoff is my favorite... Barely.
after watching over a dozen of her videos.....I get the distinct feeling on this one that her admiration extends far beyond his vocals..))
She is swooning…. Hard!
Don't we all??? Geoff's talent and charisma transcend gender boundaries
I believe that "Sixteen Tons" is his best solo work. However, they're all excellent.
Blackbird was amazing too
@Vince Mcmahon agreed
@@nekogod Blackbird was my favorite, too.
Until I heard this one.
This one is just absolute perfection, imho.
Ghost Riders In the Sky too
I think mine is House of the Rising Sun, but having just heard this cover for the first time, this one is right up there with it.
Love to watch how you melt when he sings. Out of all the people that have reacted to his singing, you have the best smile of every other one I have watched. Thumbs up B.

@Vince Mcmahon Thanks for that. I have to go listen again!
@@Aurora-cv5to it's barely- split second at the end of the slide just before the last line.
It's not just that he's got that 5 octave range, though. It's that he can step all the way across it in a heartbeat.
All of Geoff's videos are wonderful, but in my opinion his cover of "Blackbird" is one of his best arrangements and performances.
I agree!! Please please react to Blackbird!
@@OnyxRose6 My personal favorite, too.
There are others where he uses more of his range, but that one is the most beautiful
Blackbird is probably the best way to properly hear his range
Oh yes, I'd love to hear her thoughts on Blackbird.
I'm glad you're appreciating the arrangement, because that is Geoff's work also!
