Honestly, I think the “lumi creates the worlds” is true, cause remember in world 1 (idk the level) it might’ve been in ALitS but remember when she said “too boxy” and the world got rounder and she said “that’s better”? I think it’s true.
The Emotion Theory: All the cats needs to feel different enough emotions in order to get fixed. Lumi however, mostly feels happiness. Other feelings is not strong enough for her to get fixed. Glitches are a warning from the purple cat to make her feel different emotions. Like the companion in both games. But in the first game (ABP) Purple One didn't knew that the Companion only did things worse. In ALitS, she only needed to get out
That theory could be true. Lumi does feel other emotions, like sadness and frustration, mostly caused by the glitches (so it works). Also ALITS is generally agreed to take place after ABP, though you don't have to agree with that
If you get the dream theory, CaL lore may be similar to Omori's, like living in a dream where you repress the bad feelings and the truth. An endless dream that keeps looping.

I don't agree. You can, in fact, see the ceiling most of thee time, and the rooms are so spacious because the ice ability involves moving at high speeds.
Theory: Purple is someone who suffered a simlar fate, they were so lost in grief they'd simply forgotten everything, and they simply dont know or cannot exit the rooms because of this and they regret not taking the chance because now they want to go back to the real world, everyone had assumed maybe they'd killed themself because of the grief but theyd acutally locked themself in the room, which is why Lumi is suprised to hear they are in the room, i also think purple controls the room and watched Lumi. They sent the companion to convince Lumi to go back to the world and forget so they wouldnt suffer a simlar fate. I also think the glitches are purples because always happen before Lumi accepts something, and the glitches are Purple trying to make Lumi stop and think about the desicion. Purple doesnt want Lumi to get trapper like they did.
Like think the rooms corrupt after a while, and purple was stuck in rooms like ones seen in The Reset, so Lumi and her friends make the other rooms, which is why at one world in ABP is designed to look like the worlds in the Reset and the Companion, Purple was trying to lure Lumi away with that world to protect her from her own grief. Also the companion was meant to make Lumi cry/feel. Crying / feeling would make Lumi subconscious and would make her remember, which would free her from this loop, but she refuses to move on or leave the world in fear that someone else would die or something bad would happen but in these worlds that can't happen, which was why she was staying.
Hmm, interesting. Purple kinda did the opposite of what they were trying to (in this theory), lol. It's said in the game that Lumi made her own world though - how would it have been the same world that Purple was in? Still, the similarities between Lumi and Purple can't be disputed.
The reason Purple is stuck is actually much simpler. In the end of ABP Lumi says that she will create "a place that no-one can escape". Purple knew this was bad for her, followed her in there and got stuck.
I realized when Lumi gets the power to destroy the purple walls, it could be like breaking through the parent's demands or advice if we are following that purple is like a father figure

I think Lumi may not completely be a robot, but part of her may be because "Machines can Hope" and "Machines can Dream" which, if you don't know, are the main themes that play for both games, however not much information other than that can say this. Wait, what if companion is a robot?
Well the Companion is "built" so they must be some kind of manufactured thing, at least inside the game (idk about the metaphor into real life) And yeah I mention the machine soundtracks later on in the video, and now that you say it I bet those tracks are referencing the Companion still having thoughts

By the way, about the glitches. When I was playing the Hope pack, there was one very RNG-dependent section. You had to do parkour after a glitch effect appeared and paused on the screen. Therefore, you just had to hope you would get a good glitch that didn't cover the part of the screen you used to watch your steps while jumping.
Great video as always!! I can't help but notice how much effort you put into editing, flawless job. You know, I always assumed that The Dead Friend is represented by the color orange. The obstacles in the game are something that hurt you, and in the companion's case, the kill parts are all purple and I always thought it's because The Purple Cat is someone who brings it pain, not minding whether the companion is okay or not. So since the killparts take their color from a thought or experience that hurts, the kill parts with Lumi may be orange because that was the color of the dead friend if they were a cat, and the fact that orange reminds her of them hurts.
I definitely like the idea that the Dead Friend was the color orange, if they were a cat in the CaL universe. The Companion being hurt by the Purple one is also a nice touch because Purple doesn't really treat them well so it seems. It also explains why the Companion isn't hurt at all by the orange
I think that Purple made purple things hurt the Companion in the level pack because they weren´t sure what the Companion would meet in the main game and did these things JUST IN CASE it happened. This explains the abilities the Companion gets in each phase: Purple made them similar to the friends' abilities just in case the Companion met the friends.
this is a random idea, but i do think lumi has some kind of personality disorder. her name could mean light, and blue, red, green are the main light colors, part of white. if it were to be like this, the 'friends' would just be lumis 'own self'
I actually think that the companion from ABP is "my cat" from the reset level, is given to Lumi then she lost is or "left it" but the purple one found it and re-create it to help Lumi

The owner and "i give you my cat to you" topic is most complicated thing in whole lore of CaL. For me these worlds have something like permissons to create. Its on the TBP that this world are made to share with friends. Dead friend gives this permisson to a lumi "i give my cat to you" its can be just metahopr for i give you a power of this world to you. This theory is can support that pronuts are changed in the end of the reset pack.
And i have theory about gray square. First goal of the lumi is to get out of the rooms. Purple having goal of free the lumi is trying to help her by giving her a gray square. At reset pack lumi wants to stop him because he i always trying to free her.

Lumi after saying "i just need to smile" and later that in A.L.i.t.S. saying "Her (probably Lumi) owner started acting weirdly and locked her in here" that could mean she was becoming insane of being alone and then later in the game said "why did i lock myself here" maybe because she couldn't accept the fact of their friends being gone, maybe because it was a chance to experience 'living', hence the the friend saying "but i gave my cat to you" and Lumi wasted the chance to experience what the other couldn't, having to appreciate time with others, and never being able to escape her own prison. Very interesting, I have a comment about the relationship between the purple and the companion. As we can see, the companion is hurt by the purple things and the purple cat created the companion. So maybe the square is a failed creation ? That the purple one can't use it because they would hurt it so they gave it to Lumi to help her because Lumi is white and it's not dangerous for the square. Also I think Lumi just has a split personality, she is the owner. She hurts herself and gets into dangerous situations and then feels bad about it. She then falls into madness and despair, as we can see her mood varies from calm (at the beginning mostly), angry and sad until she loses hope completely because of what she did to herself.
The Companion technically could be a failed experiment, but it says in-game that they were specifically designed and made to help "the cat." Now this cat could refer to Lumi or Purple, we don't know, but since in 3-10 of the Companion Pack the square's "mission starts" it makes sense that they would be going to Lumi.
Yes, Lumi locked HERSELF in ALITS, and she says that her owner locked her in there in the first room, so this could mean that she is her owner in some way.
So Lumi does this to become another personality, Her dead friend's cat but she's still the owner. She just wants to forget her old life so she locked herself in the Alits world.

I have a theory, In ABP, it wasn't the cat who was actually there, it was her owner, I think that after the friend died, The owner found a support group who had dealt with losses similarly, and they traveled to a world where death had no Consicunces all taking the form of cat, RGB being generic cats and Lumi being her deceased friends cat ( this would explain the: "I gave you my cat" line in the reset) at the end of ABP after all the friends had recovered from their losses, Lumi wasn't ready to move on so she created another world where death had no Consicunces, But when she got there she was 'The cat' instead of being the owner taking form as the cat ( Hence the: "her owner was acting weird and locked her up in here" ) but in the neon rooms she was 'The owner again' Which is why she never remembered what happened in those neon rooms, At the end she is also 'The owner' again, ( "Why did I lock myself in here?") The owner resets it because they didn't realise how much they liked forgetting about their life ( And living the life of the cat instead) but in the reset, They are still themselves instead of being the cat as they speak to the dead friend ( "It's your fault I'm in here") The purple cat is a reminder to the cat, it symbolizes her problems, Trying to tell her that even if she is someone else, She still can't escape her problems ( " The purple one is still here " ) It's also the reason it wanted to make Lumi cry, to make her realise the rooms aren't good for her, and that she needs to learn to leave and move on. Just a theory but I thought I'd share it, I'm aware it has many flaws

I think that Lumi is schizophrenic . The glitches are actually Lumi seeing the real world . Also , in the last few rooms, the new abilities that Lumi gains resembles Lumi's friend's abilities (except for blue so the theory that he plays a bigger role can be true). The ice resembles greens ability, because you can use it as a block spawner and the hook at world 11 resembles reds ability.Also, another thing i wanna mention, at the ending of ABP Lumi's face gets a bit blurry. Just like when her friends are getting fixed. This could mean that Lumi was thinking about moving on from the dead friend and getting fixed.
I have something to add to your Metaphor Theory: I think the Companion actually represents some kinda hobby in the real-world, like you mentioned a few times. Lumi may have been given this by Purple (the parental figure) as a way to try & give her some comfort & help her through her grief. The latter might make a bit more sense here, as that'd also explain the Companion's time-limit. One usually can't spend all their time just doing the same hobby, or it's gonna lose its charm & become bland. And similarly, Lumi losing the Companion is like losing interest in a hobby. Lumi seeming a bit upset at the Companion for a moment is like the hobby being unenjoyable. Heck, this could even add to the parallels between the Companion & Lumi's friends. Perhaps indulging in this hobby reminds Lumi of the support group? Could be cuz it made her feel more at peace again, or maybe it's more detailed than that.
I like that interpretation, everything you said here makes sense. It does make me wonder about the Companion's narration in the ALITS Companion Pack, as a hobby would usually just be an object/thing, not something with real thoughts. Very interesting ideas though!
I have a theory in mind, there was an owner who had the purple one, and for some reason, the purple one dies and lumi was given to the owner to help the owner forget about the dead one (purple cat), and then lumi was put in the maze. Maybe she reminds her owner of the purple one. (Which explains world 1, room 1). And the purple one is just watching her, either jealous or wanting to make sure she's safe. And the purple one wanted to help lumi out so they (purple one) gave lumi a grey square to help her out in the maze. All the friends know about purple except for lumi. As if she's a new one. They know that purple was the first cat to the owner and that the purple was dead. Also, i think that Alits comes before Abp became Alits was released in 2015. And abp was relesed on 2019.
Another theory, Maybe the purple one was also an old cat by the owner but didn't die, she was just put in the maze just like lumi but before lumi, and when purple saw lumi, they (purple) wanted to help lumi, not wanting her to suffer like they (purple) did, so the purple one gave lumi the grey square to help her. And the purple remains stuck forever. Idk why, though. They could've helped themselves. It's just a theory, I guess.
This is definitely a different interpretation, but I think it checks out. Lumi being the "replacement" to Purple would be interesting, especially since she obviously doesn't like them (since she wants to stop them in The Reset). Your other theory could work as well
I'm not sure though about my first theory. Now that I think about it, lumi trapped herself (I totally forgot that while writing the theory, sry 😭), I really love CAL theories. Sometimes, I just want to find out the truth. I'll play it again for the 5th time. Maybe I'll find more theories? And yes, I agree that lumi at some point doesn't like purple.

I would like to build on you metaphor theory by including the orange enemies. I’m thinking that’s supposed to represent the dead friend because in LITS the line shows up when the orange triangles first appear: ‘She didn’t like them. They hurt her. She didn’t know why.’ It could represent the dead friend in her hurt from the death.

The Start of all the worlds in ABP, before the use of power rings, may represent more than one emotion. Also, checkpoints could be pieces of the power rings. The evidence? The middle of the checkpoints are white, like the outer ring of the power ring & the two other parts of the checkpoints, which are colored, could be the inside of the power ring for ABP. (For ALITS, it's the other way around.)
The lore for the checkpoints and power rings, and how they work technologically, is pretty unknown. Still, if the checkpoints are part of the power rings, why don't the power rings act as checkpoints? (the power rings would have some of the checkpoint fluid that Lumi seems to have inside her as well)

One of the theories you show here is that Purple and Lumi are related in some way. And a good option to prove that is that the cat's friends, Red, Green, and Blue, make her color, white, when mixed as lights (RGB color system), but they make something darker, like purple, when mixed as paints (CMYK color system). If she's able to leave a loop, then I guess technically ABP could start after, but the gifts that Blue and Red give her weaken that And I doubt she'd be able to leave a loop, especially since the Dead Friend comments that it's not the first loop after ALITS

This is a bit of a weird theory but I think it's kinda plausible: What if Purple is an angle? Maybe Lumi's dead friend had told Purple to help Lumi. Especially with how Purple acts in ALITS, it feels sort of right
I think that the orange objects could represent something because in the first level of ALITD it says that Lumi recognized the spikes and she didn't like them, so I think that the orange objects could represent fear or anger, because she doesn't like those feelings, and shes afraid of them, just like the spikes, she didn't like them, "They hurt her." Those feelings could hurt her in some way, like her heart, and she just wants to forget, she just wants to forget her fear and anger at the dead friend, and I think I might have the whole story mapped out...

In ALitS purple give companion to Lumi to feel sad (IDK) and in ABP Red and blue give his ability like turned blue when turning to liquid. And she said in Alits he wants to get out but when I don't know what level is the wall is gone but doesn't have any Exit ,and all orange thing maybe it's a fire but idk what Lumi body is... She is the snow or what?
2:39 to me, Red looks more like anger than excitement. I think the cats do represent Lumi’s emotions, because in ALITS, specifically the Ghost pack, Lumi is angry at the dead friend for leaving her.
While watching a playthrough of CaL, I noticed that Lumi Sounds like a kitten, not an adult cat. What if Lumi was just a kid at the time of the dead friend’s death? That could be why she’s having trouble moving on.
Red's smile makes me lean more on excitement than anger, but I get where you're coming from. And if Lumi is only a kitten that would make the story so much sadder :(

Okay okay, so, it's my theory: 1)The cat, that the dead friend gave to Lumi, is represented by the square. 2)It's has been treined for the purple one, that can be a parent of lumi in real life, and it need to make Lumi happy, angry, sad, make her feel anything, for be "more human" My prooves: 1)The square wanna help Lumi, can't be away for her and, if the square die in a level, Lumi die too, prooving that they are both loving each other 2)The purple one have no face, it's because he probably doesn't have more hope to save his son (Lumi), and he is anywhere, what prooves that he's so much better in pass levels, create them and need to see her.
Great theories! You just made a little mistake here: in Proof 1 you said that "if the square dies then Lumi dies too", but that is only true for ABP. In ALITS, the room just resets.
Nice theories, as far as I know there's nothing that disproves these (besides what Parallax said about the Companion in ALITS, but even then it could be interpreted as Lumi dying and respawning). And yup, I'm always open to new theories, and these work!
I think the theory that The Purple One is a member of Lumi's family is wrong beacause when you click on Always There reward, it says "Always there , always watching. You can't escape". A mother would never say that to her daughter
Ok, I google searched “what is always there, always watching. You can’t escape”, and the 2 things it came up with were society and its judgement and god.
My theory is that the worlds represent states of the cat's mind. This could explain the different colours. And the friends are strong emotions that could help get through this. But in the end, even they leave, and the cat ends up going crazy and locking herself in her world.

If in the Cats are liquid Lore you said for the "i gave my cat to you" line in the Reset ALITS, you just say that Lumi owner was Purple and she was gave the cat to another owner. If this true, Purple is not the owner. Is sort of parent, (due that an cat that own an cat is impossible) so Purple is female can be an sort of mom.
Wait about Purple flying! Lumi can fly given the right ability. Purple and Lumi being the same? Or maybe Purple is just so op they can fly. But who knows.
I didn't even think about the gas ability, and since it's infinite in ALITS then Purple could very well be using it. Only thing is we don't know for sure if the other cats can use power rings, or even see them at all
i've always assumed there's a 6th cat who is the one that died because in the reset mentions that the purple one made the companion and they said it in 3rd person. i don't know anyone who does refer to themselves in the third person, and her friends are clearly alive since they are with her in abp and talking to her in alits. but that's just a theory. I have a theory: Even though Purple exists in the ABP Editor, this doesn't mean that they exist in the main ABP. Some things, such as the ladder, the Platforming Cats song, active platforms and spinners, and the "two health left", "one health left", "hurt" and "dead" expressions also exist in the Editor but not the main game.
True, true - I suppose the presence of Purple in the editor can be assumed just as proof that they still exist in the lore in general, that LQD hasn't forgotten about them
Might be unrelated but could purple have something to do with the companions timer. In ABP, the timer is shorter but restarts when Lumi collects it, but in ALiTS, the timer is at 100 for the entire level.
I think that has to do with the gameplay aspect of the games. LQD said that in ALITS, the timer only exists to remind players to pick up the Companion again after using it. In ABP, it seems like they wanted to make the timer have more of an effect. Also, Lumi's presence in the real world can be complex, and can't really be answered in a yes/no question. (It really depends on the theory)
Maybe their owner is a scientist? Maybe after the dead friend died and he takes the cat, he locked her there to see what is her reaction Or maybe he just want to keep the cat alive with loops, to remember the dead friend

By the "giving info" part, I meant that the dreams could make known inner desires/worries in the subconscious that you may not notice - but they definitely can be combinations or representations of memories, which I can see CaL being

The Companion Pack is definitely very weird. What are the grey blocks? Are they like ladders, taken from ABP and modified for the square? Why is everything orange? Is it Purple preparing the square to not be scared of orange like the cat? Is the bouncy substance on the floor just a jump pad in disquise? There are so many things to talk about here!
I love the Companion Pack, both lore-wise and gameplay-wise, I feel like it adds so much more as well as having the Companion of course (one of my favorite characters)
Could be I said in the Metaphor Theory that Lumi could be dreaming, but if she actually dies and goes to the afterlife and back then a coma would make more sense It could also be her life flashing before her eyes in a strange way
I would like to add something about theory, that the purple is a kind of spirit. You said, they can fly in ALiTS. And also we can go through them in ALiTS, so they isn't material. But in ABP they can't fly, and is material. We all know that ABP happens before ALiTS. So, maybe, after ABP the Purple became powerful enough to fly, not to be material and, probably, to create smth like Companion and Power Rings. Maybe, after Lumi's friends' leaving, the Purple took their abilities and, probably, gave them to the Companion, but they modernized them a little bit. I could see it as possible, and them simply being an illusion or drifting out of the material world in ALITS could explain the Purple one's whole deal with them flying. Also ironically the only mistake that I caught was "mustake" just a simple typo, your English is spot-on though!
I've got a new theory. Lumi didn't completely wipe her memory before starting ALITS, she kept some elements from ABP. First of all, Worlds 1 and 2 are the same color across both games. Also, the Companion leaves in World 8. And the Reset is similar to World 12 in ABP, in it the cat reviews her memories of the previous worlds. And that's not to mention all the similarities between obstacles in the two games.
A lot of that could be attributed to the games just being part of the same series, but there are some things there that could support that Lumi remembered some of ABP, even subconsciously

I recommend you understand the Metaphor Theory before reading ARH. Purple (spoiler alert) represents Lumi's mother, and Lumi represents the owner, or Purple's child. I think you misread the thing about Purple being on a computer - since ARH is a GDD, I had to specify all the controls of the game, and I included the controls for both PC and mobile gameplay. For the Lumi-Owner-Dead Friend debacle: Lumi in the game represents The Owner in the real world. Purple in the game represents The Owner's mom, and the friends represent The Owner's friends from his support group. The Dead Friend was The Owner's previous friend who died tragically. The Dead Friend used to have a cat, named Lumi, in the real world. Before the Dead Friend died, she told The Owner that if anything were to happen to her, she would want The Owner to have her cat Lumi. Lumi is the only cat to have a name because Lumi is the only cat who actually exists in the real world, even if she represents someone else in the game world. With this lens, the "I gave my cat to you" line makes perfect sense because the Dead Friend gave The Owner their cat, Lumi. Lastly, yes, Purple is good, that's my personal headcanon but I think that is implied through the game itself too. Purple made the Companion to make Lumi "feel" and "cry," which seems like a bad thing, but the Companion thinks it will help Lumi. It seems to me like Purple simply wants to help Lumi leave this loop. That was a lot LOL, anyway thanks for reading ARH even if you couldn't understand much of the story, and I hope this helps you understand a little bit better
I don't think you should try to connect the glitches with different emotions and events, they could just mean something weird or bad is going on, like real computer glitches.
Two things i want to point out 1. ABP - A = BP wich is borderline personality 2. Purple is refered to as "the purple one" which makes it seem like purple is a god of some sort
1. While the Borderline personality disorder connection is cool, I don't think that it's intentional, since ABP stands for A Better Place. 2. Yeah, it could very well be possible that Purple is the one controlling all this, making them a god in their worlds

I don't think that LQD will ever give a full explanation, for the exact reason that you said - the theories and dark lore are part of what keeps this game alive. As for another CaL game, we don't know if it will ever be made (LQD isn't working on one), but I feel like an ALITS sequel where you play as Purple would be pretty exciting

Lumi did actually create the narration for the ALitS. We know this because she had said that she’d make a world just like ABP, so she must’ve given herself false memories, because she doesn’t remember her friends.For all we know, lumi and her friends could’ve been strays.This also explains why she wouldn’t remember the friend that her “owner” lost, she might not have gone through the time to make that up, and we know she didn’t have an owner because she gave herself false memories, or just took away the memories of her friends, though she could’ve noticed that she remembered she was with someone, which would have just made her more depressed than she already is.And if she had taken away all memories from her friends and ever being with anyone, that would explain why she’d thought she’d been going in these rooms for what felt like forever, though the loop may also explain that, because we have no idea how many times she’s looped the rooms (I also do believe that purple the friend that Lumi lost, but I’m not gonna go into that because I don’t wanna bore y’all ) .
This actually kinda makes sense, because the narrator knows her feelings. In the last world, the narrator says “The cat couldn’t take it anymore” and “she saw the gray square and wasn’t sure what to think of it”,
Yep! You're correct that the narration is Lumi's thoughts, and all your evidence (plus more) supports it. However, the theory was that she physically wrote the narration on the walls after going through the rooms so many times - which your evidence actually supports as well!
A theory I agree with is that Purple controls the friends. This explains why in W3R1 of ABP the friends didn't understand Lumi when she asked where they had been and wanted to rejoin, but they did understand when she said she wanted to be alone a while longer. Purple wanted to keep Lumi separated.
Here is my theory the purple cat is actually lumi looking at her past mistakes engulfed with grief and sadness hence it having no face having lost all hope who soul is trapped in the maze and to help a version of herself purposely killing her so she can see her friend's and move on with life unlike purple

A lot of the confusion that you are talking about ends up coming down to the fact that it's practically canon that ALITS comes after ABP - it explains why she doesn't remember anything in ABP, and why at the end of ALITS she's just done with everything and decides to kill herself (rather than escaping)

A question I have about the ALitS loop: Are the friends, the Companion and Purple also in the loop, doing and experiencing things over and over again, or is this like a recording, they did it once and Lumi sees the results many times?
It seems like ABP isn't part of the loop because the text from W1 of ALITS is replayed after The Reset. The Companion/Purple could be, I don't personally think so but it could be or couldn't be (we don't really know)
Here is a theory: Maybe Lumi was the owner (mentioned at the start of Alits). I thought of that because of the "i gave my cat to you" line in the Reset. Idk if you will accept this ;-; (another theory Because this one has been mentioned alot of times) I think that Purple is actually Lumi's creator. I know they also created Companion, but it is still a theory. When you said that Purple is like a parental figure, i thought about it aswell.
The Dead Friend does indeed say that Lumi is the owner, though it might be more of a symbolic title.... Also, Purple being the creator of Lumi makes a lot of sense, and can tie into the Metaphor Theory in the way you described! :)

As much as I love this idea, I think it would be a little hard to have a community-run CaL game, and LQD is already working on another game for Last Quarter Studios (and I'm excited to see how that game turns out). One theory I have is that the hexagons in ABP are alive. After all, they die and respawn when touching orange, and they are targeted by storm clouds, just like Lumi is targeted by eyes.
It wouldn't make sense for a cat to be orange in this game. All the cat colours here other than white are unrealistic. It would be weird for there to be one realistic colour but not the others.
Green is her true and first friend that purples probably controling her friends and the companion and the reason shes followed lumiq is strange but shows no face reaction and reason she becomes blue when liquid in ABP and she becomes red when hurt her friends probably merging in with herp she could sence they were trapped but by who?
Lumi turns blue as liquid and red when hit in ALITS because Blue and Red gave her those "gifts" when they left in ABP. While it's unclear why Green didn't give a gift, it might be because they already knew Lumi would remember them (as her closest friend)

Honestly, I think the “lumi creates the worlds” is true, cause remember in world 1 (idk the level) it might’ve been in ALitS but remember when she said “too boxy” and the world got rounder and she said “that’s better”? I think it’s true.
Yup, that happens in World 1, and many other times throughout the game. For example, World 4 is confirmed to be created by Red

The Emotion Theory:
All the cats needs to feel different enough emotions in order to get fixed. Lumi however, mostly feels happiness. Other feelings is not strong enough for her to get fixed. Glitches are a warning from the purple cat to make her feel different emotions. Like the companion in both games. But in the first game (ABP) Purple One didn't knew that the Companion only did things worse. In ALitS, she only needed to get out
That theory could be true. Lumi does feel other emotions, like sadness and frustration, mostly caused by the glitches (so it works). Also ALITS is generally agreed to take place after ABP, though you don't have to agree with that

This might be true. Getting fixed means moving on, and moving on involves having a feeling strong enough to push the friend's death out of your mind.

In the companion pack, Purple still doesn't have a face when you see them in the tenth room of each phase, so it couldn't be this way.
Also, the dev said that the Companion Pack happened right before World 4 in ALITS, and we can find Purple in World 2 Room 3, still without a face.
So that the companion was designed to jump, but purple gave up before the companion can jump.

Theory:
Purple is someone who suffered a simlar fate, they were so lost in grief they'd simply forgotten everything, and they simply dont know or cannot exit the rooms because of this and they regret not taking the chance because now they want to go back to the real world, everyone had assumed maybe they'd killed themself because of the grief but theyd acutally locked themself in the room, which is why Lumi is suprised to hear they are in the room, i also think purple controls the room and watched Lumi. They sent the companion to convince Lumi to go back to the world and forget so they wouldnt suffer a simlar fate. I also think the glitches are purples because always happen before Lumi accepts something, and the glitches are Purple trying to make Lumi stop and think about the desicion. Purple doesnt want Lumi to get trapper like they did.
Like think the rooms corrupt after a while, and purple was stuck in rooms like ones seen in The Reset, so Lumi and her friends make the other rooms, which is why at one world in ABP is designed to look like the worlds in the Reset and the Companion, Purple was trying to lure Lumi away with that world to protect her from her own grief. Also the companion was meant to make Lumi cry/feel. Crying / feeling would make Lumi subconscious and would make her remember, which would free her from this loop, but she refuses to move on or leave the world in fear that someone else would die or something bad would happen but in these worlds that can't happen, which was why she was staying.
Hmm, interesting. Purple kinda did the opposite of what they were trying to (in this theory), lol. It's said in the game that Lumi made her own world though - how would it have been the same world that Purple was in? Still, the similarities between Lumi and Purple can't be disputed.
The reason Purple is stuck is actually much simpler. In the end of ABP Lumi says that she will create "a place that no-one can escape". Purple knew this was bad for her, followed her in there and got stuck.
Maybe purple is Lumi, but just Lumi in the loop much later or earlier

I think Lumi may not completely be a robot, but part of her may be because "Machines can Hope" and "Machines can Dream" which, if you don't know, are the main themes that play for both games, however not much information other than that can say this.

When I was playing the Hope pack, there was one very RNG-dependent section. You had to do parkour after a glitch effect appeared and paused on the screen. Therefore, you just had to hope you would get a good glitch that didn't cover the part of the screen you used to watch your steps while jumping.

You know, I always assumed that The Dead Friend is represented by the color orange. The obstacles in the game are something that hurt you, and in the companion's case, the kill parts are all purple and I always thought it's because The Purple Cat is someone who brings it pain, not minding whether the companion is okay or not. So since the killparts take their color from a thought or experience that hurts, the kill parts with Lumi may be orange because that was the color of the dead friend if they were a cat, and the fact that orange reminds her of them hurts.
I definitely like the idea that the Dead Friend was the color orange, if they were a cat in the CaL universe. The Companion being hurt by the Purple one is also a nice touch because Purple doesn't really treat them well so it seems. It also explains why the Companion isn't hurt at all by the orange

I think that Purple made purple things hurt the Companion in the level pack because they weren´t sure what the Companion would meet in the main game and did these things JUST IN CASE it happened. This explains the abilities the Companion gets in each phase: Purple made them similar to the friends' abilities just in case the Companion met the friends.
this is a random idea, but i do think lumi has some kind of personality disorder. her name could mean light, and blue, red, green are the main light colors, part of white. if it were to be like this, the 'friends' would just be lumis 'own self'

The owner and "i give you my cat to you" topic is most complicated thing in whole lore of CaL. For me these worlds have something like permissons to create. Its on the TBP that this world are made to share with friends. Dead friend gives this permisson to a lumi "i give my cat to you" its can be just metahopr for i give you a power of this world to you. This theory is can support that pronuts are changed in the end of the reset pack.
And i have theory about gray square. First goal of the lumi is to get out of the rooms. Purple having goal of free the lumi is trying to help her by giving her a gray square. At reset pack lumi wants to stop him because he i always trying to free her.
So would Lumi not be a cat at all, the "cat" in "I gave my cat to you" being the metaphor for the control of the worlds? (Would this be similar to the metaphor theory in a way?)
Maybe gibberish, or the metaphor theory, or a already existing one; but, in the last level of A.B.P. Lumi after saying "i just need to smile" and later that in A.L.i.t.S. saying "Her (probably Lumi) owner started acting weirdly and locked her in here" that could mean she was becoming insane of being alone and then later in the game said "why did i lock myself here" maybe because she couldn't accept the fact of their friends being gone, maybe because it was a chance to experience 'living', hence the the friend saying "but i gave my cat to you" and Lumi wasted the chance to experience what the other couldn't, having to appreciate time with others, and never being able to escape her own prison.

Very interesting, I have a comment about the relationship between the purple and the companion. As we can see, the companion is hurt by the purple things and the purple cat created the companion. So maybe the square is a failed creation ? That the purple one can't use it because they would hurt it so they gave it to Lumi to help her because Lumi is white and it's not dangerous for the square.
Also I think Lumi just has a split personality, she is the owner. She hurts herself and gets into dangerous situations and then feels bad about it. She then falls into madness and despair, as we can see her mood varies from calm (at the beginning mostly), angry and sad until she loses hope completely because of what she did to herself.
The Companion technically could be a failed experiment, but it says in-game that they were specifically designed and made to help "the cat." Now this cat could refer to Lumi or Purple, we don't know, but since in 3-10 of the Companion Pack the square's "mission starts" it makes sense that they would be going to Lumi.
What if the square is a not exactly healthy coping mechanism?
Yes, Lumi locked HERSELF in ALITS, and she says that her owner locked her in there in the first room, so this could mean that she is her owner in some way.
So Lumi does this to become another personality, Her dead friend's cat but she's still the owner. She just wants to forget her old life so she locked herself in the Alits world.

I have a theory,
In ABP, it wasn't the cat who was actually there, it was her owner, I think that after the friend died, The owner found a support group who had dealt with losses similarly, and they traveled to a world where death had no Consicunces all taking the form of cat, RGB being generic cats and Lumi being her deceased friends cat ( this would explain the: "I gave you my cat" line in the reset) at the end of ABP after all the friends had recovered from their losses, Lumi wasn't ready to move on so she created another world where death had no Consicunces, But when she got there she was 'The cat' instead of being the owner taking form as the cat ( Hence the: "her owner was acting weird and locked her up in here" ) but in the neon rooms she was 'The owner again' Which is why she never remembered what happened in those neon rooms, At the end she is also 'The owner' again, ( "Why did I lock myself in here?") The owner resets it because they didn't realise how much they liked forgetting about their life ( And living the life of the cat instead) but in the reset, They are still themselves instead of being the cat as they speak to the dead friend ( "It's your fault I'm in here") The purple cat is a reminder to the cat, it symbolizes her problems, Trying to tell her that even if she is someone else, She still can't escape her problems ( " The purple one is still here " ) It's also the reason it wanted to make Lumi cry, to make her realise the rooms aren't good for her, and that she needs to learn to leave and move on.

I think that Lumi is schizophrenic . The glitches are actually Lumi seeing the real world . Also , in the last few rooms, the new abilities that Lumi gains resembles Lumi's friend's abilities (except for blue so the theory that he plays a bigger role can be true). The ice resembles greens ability, because you can use it as a block spawner and the hook at world 11 resembles reds ability.Also, another thing i wanna mention, at the ending of ABP Lumi's face gets a bit blurry. Just like when her friends are getting fixed. This could mean that Lumi was thinking about moving on from the dead friend and getting fixed.
Yeah, I like all of these theories. When Lumi's face becomes blurry she could be getting closer to being fixed, before the glitches ruin everything

I have something to add to your Metaphor Theory:
I think the Companion actually represents some kinda hobby in the real-world, like you mentioned a few times.
Lumi may have been given this by Purple (the parental figure) as a way to try & give her some comfort & help her through her grief.
The latter might make a bit more sense here, as that'd also explain the Companion's time-limit. One usually can't spend all their time just doing the same hobby, or it's gonna lose its charm & become bland. And similarly, Lumi losing the Companion is like losing interest in a hobby. Lumi seeming a bit upset at the Companion for a moment is like the hobby being unenjoyable.
Heck, this could even add to the parallels between the Companion & Lumi's friends. Perhaps indulging in this hobby reminds Lumi of the support group? Could be cuz it made her feel more at peace again, or maybe it's more detailed than that.
I like that interpretation, everything you said here makes sense. It does make me wonder about the Companion's narration in the ALITS Companion Pack, as a hobby would usually just be an object/thing, not something with real thoughts. Very interesting ideas though!

I have a theory in mind, there was an owner who had the purple one, and for some reason, the purple one dies and lumi was given to the owner to help the owner forget about the dead one (purple cat), and then lumi was put in the maze. Maybe she reminds her owner of the purple one. (Which explains world 1, room 1). And the purple one is just watching her, either jealous or wanting to make sure she's safe. And the purple one wanted to help lumi out so they (purple one) gave lumi a grey square to help her out in the maze. All the friends know about purple except for lumi. As if she's a new one. They know that purple was the first cat to the owner and that the purple was dead. Also, i think that Alits comes before Abp became Alits was released in 2015. And abp was relesed on 2019.
Another theory,
Maybe the purple one was also an old cat by the owner but didn't die, she was just put in the maze just like lumi but before lumi, and when purple saw lumi, they (purple) wanted to help lumi, not wanting her to suffer like they (purple) did, so the purple one gave lumi the grey square to help her. And the purple remains stuck forever. Idk why, though. They could've helped themselves. It's just a theory, I guess.
This is definitely a different interpretation, but I think it checks out. Lumi being the "replacement" to Purple would be interesting, especially since she obviously doesn't like them (since she wants to stop them in The Reset). Your other theory could work as well
I'm not sure though about my first theory. Now that I think about it, lumi trapped herself (I totally forgot that while writing the theory, sry 😭), I really love CAL theories. Sometimes, I just want to find out the truth. I'll play it again for the 5th time. Maybe I'll find more theories? And yes, I agree that lumi at some point doesn't like purple.

I would like to build on you metaphor theory by including the orange enemies. I’m thinking that’s supposed to represent the dead friend because in LITS the line shows up when the orange triangles first appear: ‘She didn’t like them. They hurt her. She didn’t know why.’ It could represent the dead friend in her hurt from the death.
I agree, some people say that the dead friend could be an orange cat, but the orange just representing remembering the dead friend works perfectly well too

The Start of all the worlds in ABP, before the use of power rings, may represent more than one emotion. Also, checkpoints could be pieces of the power rings. The evidence? The middle of the checkpoints are white, like the outer ring of the power ring & the two other parts of the checkpoints, which are colored, could be the inside of the power ring for ABP.
(For ALITS, it's the other way around.)
The lore for the checkpoints and power rings, and how they work technologically, is pretty unknown. Still, if the checkpoints are part of the power rings, why don't the power rings act as checkpoints? (the power rings would have some of the checkpoint fluid that Lumi seems to have inside her as well)

One of the theories you show here is that Purple and Lumi are related in some way. And a good option to prove that is that the cat's friends, Red, Green, and Blue, make her color, white, when mixed as lights (RGB color system), but they make something darker, like purple, when mixed as paints (CMYK color system). 2:39 to me, Red looks more like anger than excitement. I think the cats do represent Lumi’s emotions, because in ALITS, specifically the Ghost pack, Lumi is angry at the dead friend for leaving her.
While watching a playthrough of CaL, I noticed that Lumi Sounds like a kitten, not an adult cat. What if Lumi was just a kid at the time of the dead friend’s death? That could be why she’s having trouble moving on.
Red's smile makes me lean more on excitement than anger, but I get where you're coming from. And if Lumi is only a kitten that would make the story so much sadder :(

Okay okay, so, it's my theory:
1)The cat, that the dead friend gave to Lumi, is represented by the square.
2)It's has been treined for the purple one, that can be a parent of lumi in real life, and it need to make Lumi happy, angry, sad, make her feel anything, for be "more human"
My prooves:
1)The square wanna help Lumi, can't be away for her and, if the square die in a level, Lumi die too, prooving that they are both loving each other
2)The purple one have no face, it's because he probably doesn't have more hope to save his son (Lumi), and he is anywhere, what prooves that he's so much better in pass levels, create them and need to see her.

Great theories! You just made a little mistake here: in Proof 1 you said that "if the square dies then Lumi dies too", but that is only true for ABP. In ALITS, the room just resets.
Nice theories, as far as I know there's nothing that disproves these (besides what Parallax said about the Companion in ALITS, but even then it could be interpreted as Lumi dying and respawning). And yup, I'm always open to new theories, and these work!

My theory is that the worlds represent states of the cat's mind. This could explain the different colours. And the friends are strong emotions that could help get through this. But in the end, even they leave, and the cat ends up going crazy and locking herself in her world.

If in the Cats are liquid Lore you said for the "i gave my cat to you" line in the Reset ALITS, you just say that Lumi owner was Purple and she was gave the cat to another owner. I didn't even think about the gas ability, and since it's infinite in ALITS then Purple could very well be using it. Only thing is we don't know for sure if the other cats can use power rings, or even see them at all

i've always assumed there's a 6th cat who is the one that died because in the reset mentions that the purple one made the companion and they said it in 3rd person. i don't know anyone who does refer to themselves in the third person, and her friends are clearly alive since they are with her in abp and talking to her in alits. but that's just a theory. Even though Purple exists in the ABP Editor, this doesn't mean that they exist in the main ABP. Some things, such as the ladder, the Platforming Cats song, active platforms and spinners, and the "two health left", "one health left", "hurt" and "dead" expressions also exist in the Editor but not the main game.
True, true - I suppose the presence of Purple in the editor can be assumed just as proof that they still exist in the lore in general, that LQD hasn't forgotten about them
Might be unrelated but could purple have something to do with the companions timer. In ABP, the timer is shorter but restarts when Lumi collects it, but in ALiTS, the timer is at 100 for the entire level.
Also another question, does lumi have a presence in the real world. I know this could conflict with other theory’s
I think that has to do with the gameplay aspect of the games. LQD said that in ALITS, the timer only exists to remind players to pick up the Companion again after using it. In ABP, it seems like they wanted to make the timer have more of an effect.
Also, Lumi's presence in the real world can be complex, and can't really be answered in a yes/no question. (It really depends on the theory)
Maybe their owner is a scientist? Maybe after the dead friend died and he takes the cat, he locked her there to see what is her reaction
Or maybe he just want to keep the cat alive with loops, to remember the dead friend

By the "giving info" part, I meant that the dreams could make known inner desires/worries in the subconscious that you may not notice - but they definitely can be combinations or representations of memories, which I can see CaL being

I love the Companion Pack, both lore-wise and gameplay-wise, I feel like it adds so much more as well as having the Companion of course (one of my favorite characters)

I would like to add something about theory, that the purple is a kind of spirit. You said, they can fly in ALiTS. And also we can go through them in ALiTS, so they isn't material. But in ABP they can't fly, and is material.
We all know that ABP happens before ALiTS. So, maybe, after ABP the Purple became powerful enough to fly, not to be material and, probably, to create smth like Companion and Power Rings. Maybe, after Lumi's friends' leaving, the Purple took their abilities and, probably, gave them to the Companion, but they modernized them a little bit.
So, there's my theory, which can unite some other theories.

I've got a new theory.
Lumi didn't completely wipe her memory before starting ALITS, she kept some elements from ABP. First of all, Worlds 1 and 2 are the same color across both games. Also, the Companion leaves in World 8. And the Reset is similar to World 12 in ABP, in it the cat reviews her memories of the previous worlds. And that's not to mention all the similarities between obstacles in the two games.
A lot of that could be attributed to the games just being part of the same series, but there are some things there that could support that Lumi remembered some of ABP, even subconsciously

I recommend you understand the Metaphor Theory before reading ARH. Purple (spoiler alert) represents Lumi's mother, and Lumi represents the owner, or Purple's child. I think you misread the thing about Purple being on a computer - since ARH is a GDD, I had to specify all the controls of the game, and I included the controls for both PC and mobile gameplay.
For the Lumi-Owner-Dead Friend debacle: Lumi in the game represents The Owner in the real world. Purple in the game represents The Owner's mom, and the friends represent The Owner's friends from his support group. The Dead Friend was The Owner's previous friend who died tragically. The Dead Friend used to have a cat, named Lumi, in the real world. Before the Dead Friend died, she told The Owner that if anything were to happen to her, she would want The Owner to have her cat Lumi. Lumi is the only cat to have a name because Lumi is the only cat who actually exists in the real world, even if she represents someone else in the game world. With this lens, the "I gave my cat to you" line makes perfect sense because the Dead Friend gave The Owner their cat, Lumi.
Lastly, yes, Purple is good, that's my personal headcanon but I think that is implied through the game itself too. Purple made the Companion to make Lumi "feel" and "cry," which seems like a bad thing, but the Companion thinks it will help Lumi. It seems to me like Purple simply wants to help Lumi leave this loop.

I don't think you should try to connect the glitches with different emotions and events, they could just mean something weird or bad is going on, like real computer glitches.

Two things i want to point out
1. ABP - A = BP wich is borderline personality
2. Purple is refered to as "the purple one" which makes it seem like purple is a god of some sort
1. While the Borderline personality disorder connection is cool, I don't think that it's intentional, since ABP stands for A Better Place.
2. Yeah, it could very well be possible that Purple is the one controlling all this, making them a god in their worlds

I don't think that LQD will ever give a full explanation, for the exact reason that you said - the theories and dark lore are part of what keeps this game alive. As for another CaL game, we don't know if it will ever be made (LQD isn't working on one), but I feel like an ALITS sequel where you play as Purple would be pretty exciting

Lumi did actually create the narration for the ALitS. We know this because she had said that she’d make a world just like ABP, so she must’ve given herself false memories, because she doesn’t remember her friends.For all we know, lumi and her friends could’ve been strays.This also explains why she wouldn’t remember the friend that her “owner” lost, she might not have gone through the time to make that up, and we know she didn’t have an owner because she gave herself false memories, or just took away the memories of her friends, though she could’ve noticed that she remembered she was with someone, which would have just made her more depressed than she already is.And if she had taken away all memories from her friends and ever being with anyone, that would explain why she’d thought she’d been going in these rooms for what felt like forever, though the loop may also explain that, because we have no idea how many times she’s looped the rooms (I also do believe that purple the friend that Lumi lost, but I’m not gonna go into that because I don’t wanna bore y’all ) .
This actually kinda makes sense, because the narrator knows her feelings. In the last world, the narrator says “The cat couldn’t take it anymore” and “she saw the gray square and wasn’t sure what to think of it”,

Yep! You're correct that the narration is Lumi's thoughts, and all your evidence (plus more) supports it. However, the theory was that she physically wrote the narration on the walls after going through the rooms so many times - which your evidence actually supports as well!

A theory I agree with is that Purple controls the friends. This explains why in W3R1 of ABP the friends didn't understand Lumi when she asked where they had been and wanted to rejoin, but they did understand when she said she wanted to be alone a while longer. Purple wanted to keep Lumi separated.
If Purple wants the best for Lumi, why would they want to keep her separated? It seems more of a case of memory loss or duplicate friends

Here is my theory the purple cat is actually lumi looking at her past mistakes engulfed with grief and sadness hence it having no face having lost all hope who soul is trapped in the maze and to help a version of herself purposely killing her so she can see her friend's and move on with life unlike purple
Hmmmm, not a bad theory. I do wonder though, as the friends in the neon room seem to know of the Purple One's presence, so it seems like the Purple One and Lumi are definitely two separate entities
A part of her which knows what is right and what is wrong, rather than just continuing to do things she wants to.

When the dead friend says it’s too late, it might be the dead friend saying that Lumi’s in too deep.
So after I played alits first and then abp(because I just knew that abp exist),sometime I thinked that lumi in abp and in alits is different,but same soul,but it so messed up,like,if so,then alits time line should be first rather than abp,so she killed herself,the purple gave her a new body(it kept reminding me about her word "I gave my cat to you"),and she goes to alits wich was messed up,
however what's more confusing for me than "I gave my cat to you" is,"her owner said she reminds her of someone",wich was really weird because the owner should've actually be lumi herself,but I guess there should have been different theory about this
also,why did she lost her memory when she goes to abp? she proudly said everything will be fine with herself and wanted to stay tgere but in abp she lost her memory,even about the ring,superpower,bomb,etc, and wanted to go outside,yet at the end she kept wanting to stay again,
and also(I don't even know why i asked so much question),if lumi can control the world,wich was proven with "too...boxy, *making it rounder*, that's better" and how when she wished to die and reset suddenly a thorn(?) from the ceiling suddenly came out,if she really wished to get out she probably done it faster by spawning the exit door right away(wich she did it at the end where she's emotional and physical very tired),so did the "owner" wouldnt let her out until she remembered what she forgets?
One thing I also noticed is that when red and blue goes to the exit after they were 'fixed',lumi has no face and blue and red face are blurry
A lot of the confusion that you are talking about ends up coming down to the fact that it's practically canon that ALITS comes after ABP - it explains why she doesn't remember anything in ABP, and why at the end of ALITS she's just done with everything and decides to kill herself (rather than escaping)

A question I have about the ALitS loop:
Are the friends, the Companion and Purple also in the loop, doing and experiencing things over and over again, or is this like a recording, they did it once and Lumi sees the results many times?
It seems like ABP isn't part of the loop because the text from W1 of ALITS is replayed after The Reset. The Companion/Purple could be, I don't personally think so but it could be or couldn't be (we don't really know)

Maybe Lumi was the owner (mentioned at the start of Alits). I thought of that because of the "i gave my cat to you" line in the Reset. Idk if you will accept this ;-;

I think that Purple is actually Lumi's creator. I know they also created Companion, but it is still a theory. When you said that Purple is like a parental figure, i thought about it aswell.
The Dead Friend does indeed say that Lumi is the owner, though it might be more of a symbolic title....
Also, Purple being the creator of Lumi makes a lot of sense, and can tie into the Metaphor Theory in the way you described! :)

We all want a third game, but LQS says they aren´t planning on making it for now.
But what if we, fans of the two existing games, get together and help LQS make the third game?
This will make it quite a bit easier for the dev to make the game. We could provide things like music, ideas, and motivation. LQS will still have to program the entire thing ad write the story. But it will be totally worth it.

As much as I love this idea, I think it would be a little hard to have a community-run CaL game, and LQD is already working on another game for Last Quarter Studios (and I'm excited to see how that game turns out).

One theory I have is that the hexagons in ABP are alive. After all, they die and respawn when touching orange, and they are targeted by storm clouds, just like Lumi is targeted by eyes.

It wouldn't make sense for a cat to be orange in this game. All the cat colours here other than white are unrealistic. It would be weird for there to be one realistic colour but not the others.
Green is her true and first friend that purples probably controling her friends and the companion and the reason shes followed lumiq is strange but shows no face reaction and reason she becomes blue when liquid in ABP and she becomes red when hurt her friends probably merging in with herp she could sence they were trapped but by who?
Lumi turns blue as liquid and red when hit in ALITS because Blue and Red gave her those "gifts" when they left in ABP. While it's unclear why Green didn't give a gift, it might be because they already knew Lumi would remember them (as her closest friend)
@@SuperPhantomUser Green left first, they didn't know Lumi's reaction to that, but the other cats understood that she got sad after that and gave her gifts to remember them by.
