    Him and trey has a musical connection that totally leveled up metal music -- his style is original, not just the blasts but the fills and accents that accompany the riffs

    I'm happy to hear this and happy for him that he found God. I'm a drummer of 28 years and was always amazed by his abilities and liked Morbid Angel for the sound, not necessarily the lyrics. I'm a christian and in a sense I always felt guilty listening to MA but at the same time I didn't take to heart what was being said through the lyrics. I just appreciate the sound. Now hearing of Pete's new look on life makes me appreciate him even more. Long live the original human drum machine - Pete Sandoval!!

    • @jonahmartinez4298
      @jonahmartinez4298 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only reason MA was "Satanic" was for deconditioning. It was tearing down belief systems that didn't serve them. It was ridding themselves of guilt that was pressed upon them by Christians and others. Read the lyrics on Formulas...totally about Spirit. "The ways of the God Who Say'th "I AM THAT I AM" are Perfection!

      I'm a Christian also. I fucking love God, and I do the same thing you do. I listen to death and black metal, all day. I never care about the lyrics, I just love the music.

    Awesome. Totally awesome. I'm also going through a spiritual journey myself and where it will lead, I don't know. So I can totally relate to Pete. As far as religious conversions go, first, to each his own. Second, conversion or not, I will always love, respect and support Pete no matter what. Screw the haters for their hatred towards both Pete's conversion and the Illud album. Long life and well wishes to Pete. RIP, Jesse. Hail Morbid Angel and Terrorizer.

      Morbid Angel was one of my first death metal bands, and quickly became my favorite band. Almost 20 years later, now as a Christian, I still love their albums! Even though much of metal doesn't glorify God, there's always pieces of Him in everything, and I've still continued listening to it. Thankfully the Lord's been merciful to me and hasn't convicted me otherwise. I actually think a lot of extreme metal (music, not lyrics) actually reflects the many dynamics of God.

    Pete is extremely honest & though he had an inverted cross on his arm in the early years. But the drum work in M.A. & Terrorizer is epic no matter if he was a Scientologist today..
    He was a mean beer drinker back in '92 when I met the 4 original members & had 15 min. of beer drinking & friendly conversation, no arrogance at all.. Brunelle was a very nice dude, it was extra sad he stopped in MA on Covenant. Pete was damn drunk at their soundcheck that afternoon.
    Insane he was able to perform same evening : )

    When we are young kids getting in to this crazy music with all these crazy characters it generates we can lose sight of some very basic tenants of behavior that will reap more positive results. Pete has obviously reached a point in his life journey where he is reflecting on his life in a very deep way with the intention of changing the things that have brought pain and suffering. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, I believe most of us hit an age usually late 40’s when we realize the weight past decisions are making in creating any current negative issues. There are many paths to get an answer to the questions that arise during those times and this is Pete’s way to it. It’s the destination that’s important here, he’s in a better place spiritually and physically which means we are in for a treat when this guy gets behind a drum kit.

      @@somethingsomething9008 Yeah, man, it's amazing... I used to be a Christian and I came to grips with the fact that there probably is no god (or at least no specific god that the religious tout) about a decade ago. I've been infinitely happier since abandoning religion. The experience is subjective. Some of these dudes are in here pretending they have some special knowledge they don't have. They're happy. That's great and more power to them. But stop pretending you have some special happiness the rest of us don't have. I spend over 30 years in it. Went to church every Sunday for years. I've lived in both perspectives. One favors reality and the other, wishful thinking. I'm sure the path of reality is less rosy and difficult. But I'd rather live in reality than lie to myself and surround myself with other people who are lying to themselves just to feel warm and fuzzy inside.

      +TheReturnOED David Vincent brought pestilence and misery, may he be happy in his other musical endeavors, but he's no longer a good fit for MA. Steve Tucker is IMHO the missing key, he's vocals are just damn great, Formulas Fatal to the flesh and Gateways to annihilation are solid landmarks in the hall of extreme metal. Steve Tucker's contribution in Nader Sadek project speaks for it self. Till MA gets to release something relevant, i'm sticking to my jazz&gnawa music CDs )) Peace from Morocco

    This is kind of an ironic post personally. Always loved all kinds of music, and not really into religion yet am a Christ follower.
    For some music he was a part of is an incredible cathartic release. Was into and still like Sepultura, Helmet, then discovered stuff like Mortification and righteous bands that were not technically religious like Downset, Zao, of course Stavesacre, Hopesfall ect.
    One remarkable memory from childhood was when I always watched Headbangers ball every Saturday nite. Biohazard and Sick of It All, & Hum we’re also favorites. Yet when I saw Morbid Angel God of Emptiness I was astonished at the artistry of the song, yet also some thing off about it like way deep in my human being was like “not sure if this is right for me”.
    Well went ahead and got Covenant the Morbid Angel album down at the cd store in the mall in ole South Georgia. Really loved the music. The band Death and Cynic were also really interesting.
    To conclude my point I almost instinctively took the Covenant Cd back to the store. I had a great rapport with the store reps cause they knew I was a 7th grade rocker extraordinaire who had a lot of knowledge for that stage of life when it came to music.
    I basically said “hey man I would like to refund this Cd, trade it for store credit or literally just give it to you guys with no expectation. I own that I purchased it, so it’s okay if you just leave it be, I will continue to shop here, just I cannot keep this cd for some very strong intuitive reason.” I may have mentioned faith or not yet those were my basic words.
    Believe they took it back and gave some store credit for another album of something.
    The main point is even if I don’t prefer religion, or any sort of dogma, somehow I knew the Holy Spirit is definitely real and that at the core of our being and life itself is a loving and receptive God or Goddess. Some kind of higher intelligence that loves us.
    That album and others like it by morbid angel are not suitable for good health & emotional well being. Some folks can dig it and it’s just like a sci fi movie or something cool to listen to which I respect.
    Yet for many they really need to keep their ears clean with music that has some kind of inspirational or beneficial message or simply beautiful artistry(like Plini, Animals as Leaders, Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, Pod, and Indie stuff like American Football, Vasudeva, REM, Chuck Ragan, Chamberlain, Thrice, Nada Surf, Omnium Gatherum, U2 & it goes on infinite. So for this drummer to find a different path & one towards faith is inspiring & incredible. Would love to hear more from him. Christ is a real spirit whether you believe the man existed or not, that’s just my personal experience and that of many people I have known in this life experience. Gratitude

All the things that PEOPLE do and say about Jesus are what makes Christianity look bad. The religion is what is bad. Jesus is only good. Try him he won't disappoint you. God bless you Mr. Sandoval and thank you for the awesome musicianship that you share with us!

    C'mon Pete, fricken stop it with the style of living with god with no destruction and death and darkness!! Ffs. People can live clean and totally straight without the nonsense of God... God doesn't stop a clean living. 2 paths?? 1 with God n one of darkness?! The only way? No,and you know it Pete and so do all reading this even if they won't admit it. Pete is an amazing drummer, one of the best and first extreme metal drummers. I don't understand the 'yay God!' comments here if you are morbid angel fans. It is a death metal gimmick, unless your a bit slow maybe you all missed the tongue in cheek of the whole genere. Pete is a legend, a death metal legend and still receives royalty cheques from his pre '😢God' performances...does he turn money away for God? No. And no he shouldn't, he should be proud of his back catalogue.
    I shouldn't have to state the obvious but damn...

    Whatever floats his boat. Just respect his decision. Tolerance and respect is what's missing from a lot of people. If you can't respect someone else's choices in life, then you're only marginally better than the extremist Muslims. At least you don't kill others who don't follow what you follow though.

    Have always been fascinated by Pete, becuse he was setting the standards for drumming in a decade from '90 to '00.. But though he sounds like a man ho past his prime, but like he admits, new drummers are faster & are specialists..But without Pete, we may never had the blast beats as we know them.. Hate his Shitty : God Bull... which he uses half the time on..Is he stoned or Brainwashed?? But even Though : 'RESPECT FOREVER'.. Vikinghorns, Denmark...

    Okay so at this point in time he never wanted to play for MA again because they were 'satanic' and that was not his 'path'. Sounding like some deranged 80s hyprochristian there.
    Flashforward 7 years and he's playing in Morbid Angel.
    Ok?
    Look don't get me wrong I adore Sandoval and he raised a lot of good points. I totally respect that he found faith when he was in a low period. But some of those sterotypical 'religious' comments he was saying here sounded outright nutty, at least to me. Well i shouldn't be suprised as after all, religion is a nutty concept and slowly but surely losing it's sell by date. Spiritualism is the shit, though.

    The reason "finding God" seems so "personal" is simple....it's the best part of yourself, your own ego, that you're conversing with, nothing to do with any external "force". This is what bugs me about "god" claims....giving the credit for what YOU achieve in your life, to something outside you. It's NOT outside you...*it IS you!* This is why it seems so "personal".

    You left Morbid Angel to play in another metal group that's still divergent from your actual religious belief, i don't see the reason to stop from darkness (aka Morbid Angel) and doing the same thing again after condemning this lifestyle ?? weird. your drum in Terrorizer is pretty much the same as before, aggressive?

    • @jonahmartinez4298
      @jonahmartinez4298 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Color4Fun There's nothing wrong with aggressive music. There are "aggressive" aspects of nature, but they're Created aren't they? It is that Morbid Angel talks about Satanism, but it's really just symbolism. Terrorizer is political. Pete thinks Morbid Angel is not about God, but he's actually wrong. Morbid Angel is all about God, but not in the Christian sense. Their lyrics praise the Alpha Omega and that God who say "I Am That I Am" and condemn against the ignorant, fleshly behavior that denies the calling of Spirit within.

      If you built a car and it became too dangerous to drive, you would advise someone not to go anywhere near it. That certain someone that certain God made snapped. Out of free will. As for the fruit tree, if you had a stack of books in the house that were too adult for your kids, would you want them reading them? No, you wouldn't- not until they were more mature. Pete is not blaming the devil he is speaking about very real and personal changes.
