The audio quality for his "revival" is excellent for most of these programs. Amazing Sound! In spite of CBSRMT being more contemporary than most of the content on this Excellent channel, many of the episodes I've heard can be really terrible sound quality, possibly due to some of them being "lost" and the copies of those particular episodes degraded though they may be are the best the uploader can find. It is also unlikely that they tried to clean up the copies, since there is some good editing software available for doing this, if one knows how to use it - (I've used "Audacity" for music, it is pretty good. It can be "taught" to identify specific noise which you want removed, by entering a tiny sample of it into the program, which is just one of many tools it has. Audacity is FREE and very useful)
~ Himan Brown was a fine director of OTR the Inner Sanctum probably founded the "Creaking Door" sound intro used on a few shows...

The creaking door sound actually came from a squeaky chair! Thanks for the heads up on audacity. I may try it in the future. As far as sound quality for CBSRMT, you're right about horrible copies existing. Many exist onky from recording the broadcast with a microphone next to an AM radio! Other uploaders just don't care about sound quality, mostly because there's no money in restoration of public domain programs. I have about 100 Himan Brown episodes of CBSRMT. I can only guess why just these sound so great. I think it's two reasons. I suspect he kept some of the original tapes, plus public radio probably did digital restoration. A lot of CBSRMT stories are just plain awful, but still, producing four one hour shows a week was quite an accomplishment. I'll keep plugging along with my channel, still providing only the best quality audio I can get my hands on!
