Also, I will always buy Seymour Duncan pickups. I remember being in college and I had just bought a SD hotrod set. I was working through how to wire it and was getting the wire colors mixed up. I picked up the phone to call SD support and I swear the guy who answered the phone sounded like he must have been back in the shop building a pickup. He immediately answered my questions and I was able to get my pickups installed. That level of customer service made me a SD customer for life.
The Antiquity Texas Hot Strat Pickup is a Perfect all rounder, It plays Everything from Blues to Hard Rock! Thank you Mr Duncan, these Pickups are just Beautiful ♥️👍. Take care, Melbourne, Australia.
Have these in a LP Korean Epi. Nothing like ‘em! I would have never bought a LP, always loved anything Fender. Hooked me the first time I played through them.
Bought a Gibson Les Paul Tribute and never even plugged it in, I just swapped the pickups right away for these. The new Gibson’s have a PCB where the pots are and I had no idea how to wire them so emailed SD and they replied within 30 mins with detailed instructions and photos of my exact model. Exceptional company with incredible pickups
I put my pickups in my toilet tank and let them age for 6 months, and we have really bad water here in New Jersey, & I put them in my Strat and all I want to play is Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons songs. Weird.
I put SD Seth Lovers in an elite strat....amazing. Have them in my Heritage H-535...again, amazing! The sound of rock and roll was the sound of unpotted pickups...not very powerful. Really articulate. Worth every penny. Haven't tried antiquities because I've been so happy with these. Next up, I'm putting gold-covered Seth Lovers in a D'Angelico Excel EXL1..haven't cut it up yet, but looking foward to getting into it to make it into a Gibson L5 style guitar
Didn't know much about them when I bought a set for my Les Paul... all of a sudden I was getting that sound I always had in my head. I immediately ordered a set of Antiquity Surfers for my strat, and now I can't put that guitar down. Now I'm looking for a good Les Paul special, and will definitely put a set of antiquity P-90s in there. I know Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day uses antiquity P90s in his LP Jrs.
Hi Brandon! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thank you for the great comment! We really appreciate it. We will be showcasing many more of the Antiquity pickups and providing sound samples in the videos to come. Stay tuned! Thanks again Brandon!
These pickups sound amazing. I think it’s funny how back in the day guitarists used to pull the covers off pickups and use preamps and compressors to get more output, yet nowadays there’s active pickups and ceramics and all these high-output pups but some guys still want those old pickups and still use the preamps etc lol. I do love the sounds tho.
On the SD website it says that the Texas Hot set have less top end than the Surfers, but in this video it sounds like the opposite. Edit: So I checked the sound samples on the website and the Surfer set is definitely more bright. I wonder if in this video they got the labels mixed up on the demo.
Hi Mike! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thanks so much for the comment and the great question! We can certainly fabricate you a set of Antiquity Humbuckers that are wax potted. No problem! Please feel free reach out to your favorite Seymour Duncan dealer, and we can ensure that you're taken care of. All Seymour Duncan dealers can be found on the "Dealer Finder" on the Seymour Duncan website. Thanks again Mike! I appreciate it.
Hi Bob , how do you like it? I am wondering how it will sound on this guitar - www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Custom-Shop/1951-Heavy-Relic-HS-Telecaster-Electric-Guitar.gc#productDetail
I used the contact form on your site but never got a reply. I have a nickel allergy and was wondering if titanium is a viable material for a pickup cover. I ask this because for years I used regular belt buckles which caused a lot of discomfort. Eventually I found a manufacturer of titanium belt buckles and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. I have a near constant rash on my hands and am looking to minimise the amount of contact I have with non hypoallergenic materials on my guitar by replacing hardware where possible/practical. I love the look of nickel (especially brushed or raw) covers and think titanium would be a great alternative looks-wise as it isn't as shiny as chrome and it's hypoallergenic (people with nickel allergy are likely to be allergic to other metals/alloys such as chrome and cobalt).
Did you try to contact MJ? I have emailed them several times, no answer. I emailed MJ just yesterday so hopefully she answers, I think she did once but through her own Duncan email
Would this give me the Luther Perkins sound of his old esquire in the bridge position kind of deep bass sound that was Johnny Cash's iconic sound? That would be what I'm looking for! or what would! I plan on building some of my own, Esquire style guitars that I would want these pick-ups for. Thanks! Tom
Hi Tom! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thank you for the great question! The Antiquity Tele Bridge pickup would be a great choice for your Esquire if you're looking to achieve Luther's infamous "boom-chicka-boom" tone. The warm Alnico II magnet will give you a deeper, thicker tone, and the vintage wind and degaussed magnets will replicate the tone of the pickups from that iconic period. A great choice! Thanks again Tom! I appreciate.
Which antiquity strat pickup set sounds more jimi/ srv /john mayer ish sound the antiquity texas hot or the antiquity ii surfer? Mostly john mayer ish sound sound
I am suck a freaking dumbass. When I read Vintage Vibe, I thought it was new Duncan Uni-Vibe-based circuit pedal - lol. Nevertheless, I use nothing but Duncan's in most of my guitars. :)
The demos are horrible, sounds very bad... Hopefuly the humbucker is good, I just ordered one (before seing this video)... Seymour Duncan definitly needs help with their sound samples(on their website too) they would sell more products with a better marketing. That video was interesting beside the parts where the guy "plays"..

Thanks Seymour! I still have the early Antiquity humbucking you made me in 1994. It sounds great!
Unsung Genius, Seymour Duncan! A REAL Rock & Roll Hero!!!
Is the audio a little messed up for anyone else?
yes, a little in spots, mostly early on.
Yeah i was just thinking i hope its not my headset!
Yess
It's just been aged a bit 👍
The guitar also is out of tune or intonation is off.
I use antiquity humbuckers/P90 in two of my Les Paul's (a Gibson Traditional and a 96 LP Special) and I love em. Love this video! Very informative.
Just bought a 55' Antiquity for my MJT Esquire and it is an awesome pickup!
I have Antiquity humbuckers in my Ibanez AS-73.... Incredibly sweet sound. Love it.

If this is not a joke how do they sound
@@Hehehehhehehehehehehehhe78 they sound weird
Man If I still had my original set of 1981 S.D. (SH-1) '59s, they just might qualify as natural 'Antiquity' pickups!
That’s why I love Duncan class act
Worth checking just for the alnico V Vs II comparison! Excellent video!
Very cool video. Thank you for making these videos and sharing Seymour’s insights. Soaking it up like a sponge here.
Great video but I watched till the end waiting for de antiquity's P-90 to appear... they should have been in the video too!!!
they are great pickups! not my humbucker of choice but 2nd LOL! and btw MJ you made me some incredible pickups girl ! 🙌🏼

Loved the video, makes me wonder how antiquity mini-humbuckers sound. Or some of the other great Seymour Duncan antiquity pickups.
Hi Brandon! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thank you for the great comment! We really appreciate it. We will be showcasing many more of the Antiquity pickups and providing sound samples in the videos to come. Stay tuned! Thanks again Brandon!
When I imagine what a vintage Les Paul custom PAF sounds like, the Antiquity's are it.

Great video! Changing the subject a little... Is it possible to make a video telling how was the development of Dimebag's pickup?
Should try one of these set on my jazzmaster

Lots of great pickup makers out there, but for my money those surfer strat pups have yet to be beat
MJ es la mama chula.
Just got a set of these for my Sg! Can’t seem to dial them in!? What do you have them set at as far as pup height?

No, you will have your own sound typically. Good luck!

Kevin, thanks for your quick comment, I would prefer to not have the pickup aged artificially since my guitars would be NEW BUILDS is that possible?
Which antiquity strat pickup set sounds more jimi/ srv /john mayer ish sound the antiquity texas hot or the antiquity ii surfer? Mostly john mayer ish sound sound
Hots or Psychedelic
Surfers, hands down.

Keep the dirt.I bought a loaded pickguard and it was filthy the knobs were nasty..Aged is one thing but keep the dust and dirt..400 bucks of dust
