An here I am, taking singing lessons for 4 years now, and watching your videos for about 5 weeks now. I found out that some of the stuff I learned in the past 4 years is completely wrong. Thank you for showing me, because now I can finally make progress.
“New-uh” works for me! The N in new helps emphasize the forward placement for the chiaro part and the ooo-uh part helps open up my soft pallet for the scuro part. Matt, does singing “right in the middle” mean the half way point between your top teeth and your soft pallet ? Ie. directly under your nose?
@@nayaleezy it’s the mind muscle connection (imagining) the sound coming from or starting in the front of your mouth vs the back. Also known as “placement.” Front placement bounces around with the hard pallet (like your bathroom) so it sounds bright and the back of the mouth is all soft tissue (like a room with carpet) so it sounds full and round/“dark”. So you send it different places depending on how you want it to sound. Or mix them like he’s saying here.
I'm not at all qualified, but you might try singing on a "nee" and "ng" (as in sing) and feel how it kind of vibrates in the front of your mouth. I'm pretty sure that's what they call forward placement. And you can try and sing with that forward placement while simultaneously trying to keep your throat open and soft palate raised! hope that helps!
You need to first develop your breath support, Watching millions of youtube videos will not help, these exercises are for people who already develop their breath support. And breath support is literally, staying in an inhalation position as long as you can.
You cant imagine how much this was useful for me... I thank you very much. Love from Brazil!
I'll try my best. 😊💜
Thank you for this tip!

when you guys talk about forward and back, I have no sense for what that means? Are you referring to the tongue position?
