    So if you attempt to do this for the first time with a smartphone I have a few tips:
    1. The back cover is MADE to break when you try to open it. That's why it is made of glass on most phones. I wouldn't try it for the first time if I didn't have a spare back cover.
    Mine broke but I don't really care, since I have a case all the time.
    2. Use the hair dryer all the time as you go around the back cover with the guitar pick. I would use something thinner next time. Use it before every single step. So at least 15 times to be safe.
    3. The pick had to be inserted a lot deeper on my phone then I was left to believe, which got me quite confused as the cover was simply not falling off.
    Mine is OnePlus 7T.

    Great video, makes it easy to understand. I'm not so used to these new phones but maybe 6 months ago now I smashed my galaxy A70 and I want to sell it because I have a new phone so I ordered a screen and some tools and will follow this. Saves a lot of money on buying a heat gun. I'm glad you can use just a hairdryer. Thanks for making this video!

    • @ShermanChin
      @ShermanChin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are very welcome! 😊 It is just a bit slower with a hairdryer compared to a heat gun because the heat is more dissipated but nothing a little little patience will not solve. 💪 I still wish they just make phones with removable backs like they used to. 🤬

      @@ShermanChin agreed! I was doing local repairs between iPhone 4-5s era and even then it was quite simple. I mainly refurbish/fix laptops and computers which also just use screws and plastic latches and stuff but now everything is made very hard to repair so people will instead just buy a new device. Good to know about the hairdryer though! It's been a while since the phone broke and I only really care to fix it because I have some photos and messages etc on there I can't get otherwise :( I will let you know how it goes in about 2-3 weeks when the screen comes since it's coming from China :)))

    • @ShermanChin
      @ShermanChin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Slooby all the best with that screen replacement of yours! 💪 A pro tip is to check that the screen is working before screwing everything back in. I replaced the screen on my iPhone 5s with a one made from China but found out that the bottom part of the screen had its digitizer not detecting my touches at all. Had to take it all out again and ask for a refund. Such a pain. 😢

    how i stick the cover back to the phone?do i need new glue or just heat it again and stick it back with the glue that came with it?

    • @ShermanChin
      @ShermanChin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you want it to stick and be somewhat water proof again, you need to buy a new layer of adhesive film to replace the old one. If not, just use the old layer as I did because it will still be a bit sticky.

      Do you mean a screen protector, Wisnia? If you have a new screen protector, I recommend removing the old one first or the touch sensitivity will be diminished. If it is just a back, then it doesn't matter.

    Ain’t no point in using a suction cup if it’s cracked it won’t seal tight enough if its chipped heat it and just pick the glass out wit a razor

    • @ShermanChin
