So you just removed the bad capacitor? You did not have to put another one on?

no need to install another capacitor for many reason: for the risk dont want to apply alot of heat on the phone board, small area big chance moving other components, chance for that cap to get shorted again is high, in that power line there is more then enough caps will do the job, board will work just fine without the shorted cap....
