Liked the suggestion about gluing! As a relative newbie, its the little hints that seem to hit home. I suppose most experienced turners would have known that...but not me LOL! Great job...beautiful work.
Man this Video was just what I needed!!! Given the task of making Christmas ornaments this year. I like the way you walk through the steps. Making it easy to return the demonstration on my own ornaments.
Just wanted to let you know that you do an excellent job of teaching. I have been making things with my hands for a long time and it has been great to see a young man such as yourself doing what you do. Cary on this great tradition. By the way well done on the ornament. 🖒
That's a great video and some real quality workmanship, exactly what I needed as that's what I'm working on today. Thank you! Now I'm off to watch the rest of your videos!!
Beautiful. Very inspiring and reminds me there are a thousand great projects you never think of when you try to think of one. Especially when it comes to projects for gifts.
Amazing job and I swear I have never watched this video and I swear I just made an ornament this year that looks the exact same as yours even the spalted maple
Darryl man thanks for this! after you doing all those Christmas ornament experiments I actually went on TH-cam today to try and find tutorials. Now I don't have to anymore!
Very nice ornament. A great family heirloom too. Was that a Cindy Drozda gouge? Looked like one. I consider Cindy to be the Finial Queen. She is amazing. Thanks for the seasonal inspiration buddy.
Thank you Charlie! No it isn't a Cindy Drozda gouge. I am using a Robert Sorry 3/8" spindle gouge that I converted to a detail gouge (or my version of one). I actually happened upon the profile by accident before I learned how to sharpen my tools properly. Cindy does a fantastic job and I have used the drawing that she has in her feed for proportioning of finials during my finial turning journey. Thanks for watching.
Hi man, Really enjoyed watching your video - thanks. How do you get the fabulous shine of your globe? I don't always like to rich shine, but on this item, the high shine is fab. What do you use to get such a rich shine? Thanks. Phil in South West England.
I decided to try to turn my ornaments like you did I always do it a different way and found it very easy the way you do it thanks the only problem I make mine smaller and the Chuck jaws don’t go small enough
nice. well done with the finials also. too many that I see are "fat" and visually heavy. my only comment would be to bake the globe just a hair less flat on the top and bottom. You typically still want a bit of a squashed sphere. keep it up
Beautiful Definitely will give it a try you make it look so simple Take care
WOW great presentation and finished product. Thank you for sharing
Excellent video. Hadn't thought of gluing the top and finial in like that, but it makes sense, and something I'll take away. Thanks for sharing.
Just found this gem. Get video and finished peace sir.

Thanks. You definitely gott keep trying #dreadknotandmakesomething =)
Just found your video, best one I have seen showing how to do the globe ornament. Thanks for sharing….👍👍

Absolutely beautiful. Thx
Great Job Darryl! I made one similar last Christmas, but didn't hollow it out enough and it was almost to heavy to hang on the tree.
Nice work.
Ok! Wow! That was great! What is the finish on the final hollow form? Great shine! I bet the lights on the tree will really make it pop.🎄
Beautiful ornament, thanks for sharing. I’m a beginner turner, lot of work to get this skilled. Full View and Like 👍

Wow! Beautiful ornament and great presentation!
Thanks Darryl
Great video. I have been interested in doing hollow form ornaments but, I find them to be intimidating. You make them look easy. Thank you.
Really well explained and demonstrated. How do you finish your ornaments?
Gorgeous ornament! You make it look so easy! (though I already know how easy it is to lose footage!)
Looks awesome!
Awesome video. I’m going to try making a ornament this way. Less waste on the body. 👍

Really like your final and hollow globe. Have you turned any bird house ornaments ?
Thats Awesome Bro!!!
Nice video! Do you encounter any problems hitting the chuck jaws while hollowing?
That is so cool Darryl. I really enjoyed this video and what jaws are those for the G3 Chuck?
Thanks Ramone. I used 20mm jaws
I decided to try to turn my ornaments like you did I always do it a different way and found it very easy the way you do it thanks the only problem I make mine smaller and the Chuck jaws don’t go small enough
nice job. I like it
NIce ornament. Well done. I love the high gloss finish on an ornament what did you finish with?
Beautiful work! I love doing hollow forms and have gotten into finials as well. You have encouraged me to give it a shot!
How did you finish it? What did you use? Very nice, I use to make them about 15 yrs ago and am just getting back into it.
Thanks
Welcome
I’m the opposite, I have made many finials, but yet to turn a hollow form. Thank You for sharing
Thank you!
Excellent
Nice job. What is the finish?
Thank you. The globe is finished with several carts of thin ca and the finial is finished with friction polish and hampshire sheen.
I wish I had a way to show you a picture of it
Nice...
The artistic part is where I have a problem I have no artistic vision

Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback.
