This was filmed at Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction Arizona. The mountains in the background are the Famous Superstition Mountains where the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine is supposed to be Located. I live just down the road from this. The song is wonderful and love their costumes. Austin Brown is dressed like Clint Eastwood in one of his old westerns, Tim Foust is dressed like Kurt Russell portraying Wyatt Earp in the movie Tombstone.
Austin unleashed his full Georgia accent here. He worked very hard to suppress that during his theatrical music training. After he joined Home Free, he had to let it go again. Tim comes by his Texas "drawl" naturally and Chance grew up in Alabama so there is nothing fake about their country sound.
Austin can still sing without the accent. Check out a song called "Your Bed", which he and Sebi Douyon produced from a demo, one of four by the same composer (ResurrecSis Music). This one is pure Broadway and Austin sings it with accent to match - totally neutral (I think he did it just to prove the point). The raw screaming blues called "Empty House" also sounds to me without twang.

Poor Chance gets so slept on when people start reacting to HF because he doesn’t have major parts in their most popular covers. And it’s a shame because he has probably my favorite voice of the whole group. So warm and rich and just a very soothing baritone. It’s like getting a comforting hug when he sings! 😊 “Cover Me Up” is probably my favorite Chance lead.

But I think Tanya Tucker only reached #10 in the country charts, while Helen Reddy hit #1 on about eight different charts in multiple countries. The song was originally written to start with the verse, but Tanya’s manager suggested starting with the a cappella chorus first. Most other covers I’ve heard follow that lead.

I love Chance in The Hound and The Fox's video A Whistling Lad. He does other songs with them as well, he has such a beautiful voice, so much soul and emotion in a gritty but smooth way...which sounds confusing, but is the best I can do.
You could go mad trying to describe the particular charm of Adam C's voice! My favorite aspect is the incredible "inward" effect, where it's like he's murmuring in your ear, or talking to himself. Check out his version of Pancho and Lefty, where he brings out all the mysterious gaps in the story, as if that's all he remembers from so long ago. Jen Glatzhofer explained that most of this is done by not opening the mouth much, so more air comes out, but not so much that it becomes breathy. But that doesn't explain the tone of tiredness/pain/resignation he can convey. The one I love best out of his songs with H&F is Wandering Stranger. I've left instructions to my niece that it should be sung at my funeral - should have everyone in tears.

I love how unique and distinct each of their voices are, each evokes such different emotional responses in me. I don't understand how someone can have a favourite. I mean, I understand the concept, but their talents are all so strong and individual, I love them all, as part of HF and separately. Music has always fascinated me. I have no talent for it, so I am gobsmacked when I come across people with such overwhelming amounts of it.

I've never cared for this song. But they killed it. Great harmonies. Awesome percussion. And Brooke's voice fits in so well. And, of course, the boys look fab in their old west gear.
Chance has quite a few songs on youube, with HF, with Hound and Fox, solo, and with others. My two favorites that aren't with HF are "Driver's License" (solo) and "Wayfaring Stranger" (with Hound and Fox). But then there's the treasure chest with Home Free ... happy times! "Cover Me Up" is probably #1, but take your pick. He's got the voice to do so much that the choices won't leave you disappointed. "Delta Dawn" has been sung by quite a few lovely singers, but the one I remember best is Tanya Tucker's version. And yes, Brooke's voice is very similar to hers. Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. It's always more fun to listen to great music with friends ;)

It was so much fun to hear Austin let his twang loose. As soon as he opened his mouth, I knew he was going to match Brooke's. Usually when Adam's hair is very long he wears a bandana to keep it controlled, or uses a ponytail, so you don't really notice how long it is. They are both 'only' vocals at this point, but well wroth the listening IMHO.

If you don't recognize Austin's look you need to finds yourself some spaghetti westerns to watch. Clint Eastwood did three westerns in 1964-66 playing essentially the same character even though he had a different name in each movie. The name from movie #3 stuck and he's called Blondie aka The Man with No Name. The movie were filmed mostly in Spain but the crew was largely Italian, under the helm of Italian director Sergio Leone, hence the label 'spaghetti western'.
Chance has just released a new track featuring Mercy Bell and Adam Rupp, called Far From Any Road, and it's superb! He doesn't get a huge look in when it comes to HF because he's so solid in the background, but his own tracks are brilliant.
Tim is from Texas, Austin is from Georgia, Chance is from Florida/Alabama and Rob and Adam are from Minnesota. This is twice now they have made me fall in love with a song I didn't like. By the way, sometimes I forget how tall every last one of them is. Good Lord!
Wonderful reaction! I didn't care for the other versions of the song, but Home Free can transform any song, they are simply awesome and the lady has a beautiful voice. I think Tim staying in his lower range and her voice were a perfect match and they all looked really good in their western garb, Austin looks like Clint Eastwood in that poncho... made this grandma forget to be old for a few minutes. I read somewhere that Adam grows his hair out to cut and donate to one of the wig charities for sick children.

What a great rendition of a very sad and remarkable song! One of the songwriters wrote this about his mother who killed herself ( faded rose from days gone by, "and did I hear ya say, He was meetin' you here today, to take you to His mansion in the sky" . Brooke Eden and Home Free absolutely nailed this, right down to the dead flowers❤

"Cover Me Up" is probably #1, but take your pick. He's got the voice to do so much that the choices won't leave you disappointed.
"Delta Dawn" has been sung by quite a few lovely singers, but the one I remember best is Tanya Tucker's version. And yes, Brooke's voice is very similar to hers. Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. It's always more fun to listen to great music with friends ;)

Loved your reaction! Such a great song! Bette Midler did it first in 1971 but I remember Tanya Tucker & Helen Reddy's versions. The guys did a really nice job backing up Brooke Eden on this song. They never take away from a guest vocalist. And how cool did they all look dressed in the western theme. Reminded me of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western movies I used to watch.

If you don't recognize Austin's look you need to finds yourself some spaghetti westerns to watch. Clint Eastwood did three westerns in 1964-66 playing essentially the same character even though he had a different name in each movie. The name from movie #3 stuck and he's called Blondie aka The Man with No Name. The movie were filmed mostly in Spain but the crew was largely Italian, under the helm of Italian director Sergio Leone, hence the label 'spaghetti western'.
Chance has just released a new track featuring Mercy Bell and Adam Rupp, called Far From Any Road, and it's superb! He doesn't get a huge look in when it comes to HF because he's so solid in the background, but his own tracks are brilliant.
Tim is from Texas, Austin is from Georgia, Chance is from Florida/Alabama and Rob and Adam are from Minnesota. This is twice now they have made me fall in love with a song I didn't like. By the way, sometimes I forget how tall every last one of them is. Good Lord!
Wonderful reaction! I didn't care for the other versions of the song, but Home Free can transform any song, they are simply awesome and the lady has a beautiful voice. I think Tim staying in his lower range and her voice were a perfect match and they all looked really good in their western garb, Austin looks like Clint Eastwood in that poncho... made this grandma forget to be old for a few minutes. I read somewhere that Adam grows his hair out to cut and donate to one of the wig charities for sick children.

What a great rendition of a very sad and remarkable song! One of the songwriters wrote this about his mother who killed herself ( faded rose from days gone by, "and did I hear ya say, He was meetin' you here today, to take you to His mansion in the sky" . Brooke Eden and Home Free absolutely nailed this, right down to the dead flowers❤
Chance gets a decent lead vocal role in 'Some Girls Do' and 'Folsom Prison Blues' (the latter also has some crazy sound effects from Adam and Tim descending to the basement with his bass!)
My personal favorite Chance leads are “Some Girls Do” and “Cover Me Up”! But he also has some very lovely solos sections in “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and “Helplessly Hoping” to give you another couple recommendations. Brilliant reaction as always DJ! :)
