My first memory of this was as a 10 yr old in the 70s by Helen Reddy. Many have done this but Brooke and the guys gave this the shot in the arm it needed. This is fab. Austin bringing out his accent deep and rocking his Clint Eastwood while Tim looks strait out of Tombstone. Great video, great reaction.
Austin sings with Home Free, he sings solo, and he sings with Sweet + Low, and we are blessed by his presence and his smile and his voice. I am truly grateful for him and his brothers he performs with.
if you go back to Home Free in the Sing Off, it's clear that the organisers spotted Austin's star quality, and he really does sound and look like a star in the making. It never happened, of course, because he didn't want it, and a lack of ambition kills a solo career like nothing else. He likes singing with friends and is happy with his life, so you can't really expect him to want more. But I remember how happy and excited his solo career during lockdown made him, particularly since he had previously thought he might do some solo stuff as he hit his 40s. Lockdown intervened, giving him time to work with Steven Martinez and with Amberly (whose role in his solo career shouldn't be underestimated). Now he can feel pride that half of the last album was his work (not forgetting the role of collabs), and can develop his work as a singer-songwriter. He's got some gorgeous stuff in the pipeline, so we wait to see what happens next. Personally I believe that Austin has one of the best tenor voices in any genre today, but that "country" label is going to shut him off from a lot of his potential audience. He has very good reasons for not signing to a label, but he's not going to get the nominations and radio play without the heft of a label. This was a great reaction, thank you. I've loved the song since I heard Bette Midler sing it, but the guys+ gal brought new life to it.
I've never cared for this song. But they killed it. Brooke blends with the boys so well. And the guys look good in their old west gear. Have you heard Austin sing a song called Empty House? It is not on his channel, but it's easy to find with a search. I was soooo not prepared for it.

There are live versions with Brooke Eden or Maggie Baugh and they're both really good! I love the way Home Free actively promotes others singers - it's kind, generous & so them.
Austin joined Home Free as he left the cruise entertainment scene. He's talked about how the plan was Broadway and that joining Home Free changed the plan/dream. I think he's found the place where he can be Austin and not have to write off parts of his personality and background to be successful.

It's not often that HF goes heavy on the twang. This was super. Such a familiar song that despite the blatant southern twang, almost everyone loved. The unashamed southern sound.
