True story. In the early 90’s my boss asked me to make a cassette tape of nothing but this song on both sides to play as he drove his 1966 Volvo while it was being restored. It had no windshield at the time so he drove it wearing a motorcycle helmet! What an icon of a song!
I know right, we're not getting old... This whole world's going to help in a handbasket music wise, sir, because, sorry about the commas, lol, apparently or supposedly there are only eight notes to an octave and everything replaces selfish some particular point in time..... But guess what.... There are more in between than you have ever even thought of... check out the bagpipes...hmmm...
He's not underrated. He's not near as good as many of the virtuosos that were playing at that time. Seems like he's a good capable rhythm guitarist. He has had lead guitarists playing with him on occasion.
So true one of the best no auto tune his actual voice right there it’s so unique .. George plays blues or rockabilly .. when he was out he was in the company of mainstream big hair rock band ..but he is so underrated .. like Prince
@@skipperallen205 and like Prince, George's playing will always stand the test of time. When people say Hendrix was the greatest, his playing actually gives me a headache. It's those long winding riffs. I don't dig it.
We played this at my Dad's funeral service and every body loved it he lived to be 87 yrs old and wanted this song played and he got it. Rest in Peace Dad with Mom 😥😥🙏💛💛🌹I WILL miss both of you💛💛💛💛
Saw him live a few years ago. He's quite the showman. Had everyone in the audience out of there seats & up on their feet dancing. People in their late 60's & even 70's (Everyone). The guy in front of us said it was his 5th time seeing George. I told him I can clearly see why. If you ever get a chance to see him live - Do It! You won't be disappointed.
It's because he let the song get used in every film and tv show and commercial with a bad guy it got overplayed and he became a parody of himself ..but your totally right this song is insanely good and his voice is from the devil himself it just oozes testosterone he must gargle gravel in a morning
this song rules in 2024 happy 40th anniversary to bad to the bone its incredible the saxophone player played an alto and a tenor druring the song at the same time incredible i gotta learn how to play the sax solo in the song i play alto ive been playing almost a year im still a beginneer though just gotta practice
I just turned 109 years old last week and i listen to this song 5 times in the morning right before breakfast and 5 times before going to bed in the evening, sometimes I will play it at lunchtime but the neighbours get pissed if I am too noisy. Age is just a number, old people have feelings too.
Me too. Seen him mid 80's in australia. On stage an hour longer, great interaction with crowd of 2000. Best concert I went to & been to a few. George was phenomenal.
Dude, he's playing live at 71, in Las Vegas on Fremont Street literally right this second. I'm so pissed in missing it! TWO saxophones?! Sweeeeettt... Great performer.
Him and his band just played in my little area about 45mins South of DC, he came but I didnt go unfortunately, also ZZ Top, Joan Jett have played here and Allman Bros but I ended up seeing them in Virginia it was awesome
I heard this on a Monday night party bus and I can't get it out of my head. That guitar solo is nuts! This is one of the most badass rock n roll songs of all-time!
A legend ..George Thorogood is amazing..great performance on stage ..Great guitar player and the bandxis fantastic..entertainment is beyond belief that George is so focused as he is when he is being bad to the bone..r you with me?
The amount of respect and awe involved in knowing George had to stretch the vocals out to keep the feedback from rolling, and how well he made it all fit to time, is simply AWESOME!
That is badass rock n'roll. I had thought that "Bad to the Bone" was George doing a cover version of some oletimey Delta Blues singer or something but he wrote it himself. Badass.
It's a take off of Bo Diddley - I'm a Man. If you've ever seen the original video for this song in the pool hall it has George playing against Bo Diddley with the high rollers placing bets and neighborhood kids trying to catch a glimpse of the action.

Why is George Theorogood great? Put in perspective. I was in high school when he came out. It was the start of heavy metal with Iron Maiden and major pop with Olivia Newton John. And yet...this old school blues rock was getting lots of airplay on the radio. Just from him. No others. He was so damn cool. The songs we so damn "Bad To The Bone", that everyone was listening. Such a dad anthem. Reminds me of Dads, post their midlife crisis, trying to balance a career as a lawyer, or engineer, kids in their 20s, a luncheon wife, and riding in a social MC club on the weekends. It's like "whatever dad, you ain't no badass. Not to me anyway".

One of the greatest..underrated guitar players. He's a legend.
One of the greatest band ever I love George Thorogood one badass band
Underrated, the most overused & overrated Millennialum term on any 20th century person or band. You just don't understand the period.
