Smith river possible lost kayaker search July 16th 2024

Searching the Smith river middle fork gorge July 16th 2024 for a possible lost kayaker. After searching 3 areas we were informed that it was just a kayak that had floated away from someone. No injuries. Located in Del Norte County Ca.

What a terrible, and terribly important task. I can only imagine how you must have felt as you searched. Think of all the man power and resources you saved, not to mention the risks to any first responders. You were sure in the right spot on this day. I hope anyone thinking of kayaking this stretch studies this video. And hope someone bought you a sarsaparilla for your time.
