- This is an unbelievably beautiful place located only 40 minutes from Azusa California, it has pristine clear water and many rock pools to swim in!!
The only problem is that there is a lot of trash all over the place, so please if you decide to visit please make sure to pack it in and pack it out!! Don’t leave any trash behind, thank you.

Thank you so much for watching, most of my videos are time sensitive , that means I try to go places when there is a better chance of having the best views and experience. For example if you watch video of a seasonal waterfall and you decide to visit but when you get there it’s completely dry that’s a bummer. Same thing if I show wildflowers blooming, you visit and they are long gone! Or a place with snow, you go and it’s all melted!
Right after I go hiking I post my videos as soon as possible.
That’s why it’s very important that you subscribe and a active the notification bell so you won’t miss a thing!!

thank you Ignacio I plan to take my family 4th of July. I hope there's water How long ago did you go?
@@edgarramirez2540 2 weeks ago, go early it’s going to be a chaotic day !!
@@lopezexplora I plan to be there by 7am you think 🤔 that will be fine
@edgarramirez2540 should be ok, please don’t leave any trash behind 🙏
@@lopezexplora definitely not I am taking extra bags will pick up extra trash if need be I love nature
What a beautiful family. Thank you for telling people to protect OUR resources. I respect you for that.
Bless you for telling people not to litter. I cannot believe how many people treat nature with such disregard and disrespect. We should feel honor and protective of all the beauty. Too many selfish people in the world.

I stopped going up here because of all the dirty diapers, trash ,graffiti and gang bangers who made it uncomfortable. This is a beautiful place that’s just been trashed. People put rocks across the river to form the deeper pools which due to environmental issues is illegal. Appreciate your video and telling people to keep it clean.
I know about the problem, it’s really sad. Watch this:
SAN GABRIEL RIVER, THE BAD SIDE!
th-cam.com/video/iD4y1b7MHzY/w-d-xo.html
Please keep it clean. Reminds me of fossil creek in Arizona. Priceless beauty
As a teenager we spent countless hours up there swimming fishing hiking getting stoned! Watching people get stuck in the mud! There's HUGE BASS in those reservoirs youll pass ..used to be wild Native Rainbow Trout up there in the River ....Fish and Game usex to plant trout in the 80s ... I think they stopped.
Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High school California ✌️♥️🇺🇲🙏🗽
Back in the 90's this area was a nice area to trout fish, and youre right, Fish n Game used to plant. Sad to hear they no longer do so because people have become trash and losers who disrespect nice places.
@@quailshootr6389 Yup...we enjoyed a much better time than nowadays....there was a real common respect that was just there... probably cuz you can't smack anybody anymore that needs smacking! Like I said and you said it's was better.. I just learned that fish n game stopped stocking trout because of the endangered red legged 🐸 frog....✌️
@@user-xh8ii2hj6r Red legged frog = translation: "We will no longer fund trout plants because we are broke and may start paying out reparations " lol
@@quailshootr6389 Ribbet!
@@quailshootr6389 Did you ever do the hike back to Fish Canyon...? The waterfall
It was never tagged up in the 90’s and was always kept clean . Some of us don’t bring spray paint and Modelo beer to have a good time . Please keep this place clean . Also maybe read some history books on the people that were in these mountains long before any of us And even with gold mining and other ventures never destroyed it like this new generation.
Yeah, the native indians
Mexicans 😂
Really? It’s a generation issue? With that logic then maybe it’s the parent’s generation that fails at raising well behaved youth
In reality, I see kids who volunteer to pick up trash and see adults who teach kids about nature and native history all of the time. Nobody is to blame. Azusa canyon has become more popular over the years and has attracted more homeless people and delinquent groups of people. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of higher public interest and low supervision no matter the decade
@@whumptapus with logic like this the new generation has no responsibility for their own actions . My kid never ran around tagging walls while drinking modelo’s
@@stevenrandolph1654 That’s not quite it, friend. Everyone is accountable. Anyone could help pick up trash, clean graffiti, and educate youth about nature and history. The change starts with you
Thank you for making this video to help people find these beautiful, local places. And for most in the surrounding areas that cant afford to go too far away for a little getaway with your kids. Just clean up after yourselves!
Thank you
I live at the end of this river in Seal Beach. I love hiking these foothills & creeks 💪🏼❤️
You mean the drainage ditch lol
Appreciate you sharing this! In the 70s we used to go to this river and play for hours there. We built our own rock pools back in the day. The water was beautiful and even had crawdads back then.
Thank you
Ah yes. The one thing this area needs is another video publicizing its location so that more hordes of people can arrive and trash it further.

This is why you should BE the change by picking up trash that people leave. Give people awareness to have more respect towards nature or places in general.

You seem fun
This brings back childhood memories 😻
great video, my friend....I grew up in Glendora..I spent my youth exploring these canyons..I need to go back.
Watch my other videos too, got so many in the San Gabriel’s! What’s your favorite trail?? Thank you watching 🙏
Hey David so did I! Never got around to the Sepulvada Basin after it rained...ever since I was a kid I'd see kids fishing the LA River by San Fernando Rd and off to the side of Interstate 5 on that cement apron....ever seen that? I grew up South of you in Downey this river runs out before it got to Telegraph Rd and The 605 freeway but up in Azusa great jumping rocks and pools....✌️
Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High School Downey California
Oh and another thing...umm they are working on bringing back the Southern Steelhead back into the LA River.... Yup
Beautiful place thx for sharing. Unbelievable that people would graffiti the beautiful rocks there, place is sacred then they go and do that. Nice job on the video, and reminding folks to take there trash with them. ✌️
Thank you 🙏
Everything gets tagged in LA. I would be depressed to visit this area and see all the gang tags and garbage. And meanwhile all of us have to pay for the "Adventure Pass"..did the taggers pay for a pass?
@@bombaybeach208 Hell no they didnt.
I hope people keep this clean and take their trash…. And keep it beautiful.👍

I use to gold pan here for many years. The gold is under the tree roots next to the river. Move the big boulders using a wench, and there's better gold.
I remember going with my family, tias, tios, primos my whole family and stationed are selfs on the river streams and did cook outs, this video brought old beautiful memories brother thank you 😭
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it, watch my other videos too. Thank you 🙏
Same here!!!! We would have so much fun ❤ sadly none of my cousins could remember the name so finding this video made my week!!!
@@cnc4243 Yes I remember the first time I went my primos called “El rio de Azusa” but that would be all the information they could give. It wasn’t until I made my channel and starting to look for trails and stuff and when I was driving to hike to “Bridge to Nowhere “this place looked familiar and that was that. Thank you for watching , check my other videos too 🙏
We have biked on this road many times. We start at Cerritos Liberty Park and take the San Gabriel River Trail to Azusa Highway. Then we follow the East Fork to Glendora Mountain Road. Sometimes, we continue all the way to Crystal Lake. It's a long ride, almost 90 miles.
Mann great memories here as a kid with all my friends...best times 🎉

You’re a wonderful tour guide! Thanks for this video, this place looks like Heaven! Especially in triple digit weather.
Yes my dad always made sure we left places better than we found them. It’s terrible to see such a disregard for nature, and it’s just selfishness that people would trash the area and not think of anybody else that may want to enjoy it after them!
Subbed for more adventures, love the watering holes!
#OlllllllO maybe I’ll get back down south soon ✨🥰✨
Stay blessed, safe, and prosperous my friend. Hello to your wonderful family, they’re very encouraging for nervous jumpers! That was a funny part LOL!

Yeah, I know the spots from the 70's. I walked up stream from the bridge about a mile. Came across Mountain Lion. Best time to go is in the early summer before the water level goes down. Today HWY 39 was closed. News story on TV. The canyon was already full.

Azusa Canyon and Mt Baldy all day 😊
You were not kidding about getting there very early!! I did go yesterday. I arrived about 11am and it was already very crowded at the picnic area so I proceeded to go past that to the 2nd bridge area. That area too was super crowded, so I continued further to where the road ends. Miraculously I did find parking. I hiked down to the river and what a beautiful area. I found a quiet area with some shade. The temperature yesterday was easily 100 degrees and felt 🥵. Dipping in the very cool water was refreshing. Exiting was a nightmare, though. Cars parked in many areas that had signs posted No Parkjng. Cars blocking many driving areas. I left about 2:30pm and it was very tricky driving out, in some areas only one car could drive through. We were driving literally up close to the parked cars and scraping by oncoming traffic. It was insane!!! Great driving skills were required here. But definitely was worth the trip 🙌
What an experience right?
It is a very beautiful place though, I’m lucky I do my hiking on weekdays so I usually don’t have the problem with crowds!
@@lopezexplora Yes!! Beautiful place to visit. I’m going to have to revisit on a Wednesday, my day off. Weekends right now are insanely crowded 😅.

AND it is majorly haunted. In 1964, my friends in high school died when their car was blocked by falling rocks. Their car fell down the hill. A few months later, my family and neighbors went on a picnic in that park, we went wading on that rock pool and big rocks fell from the sky almost killing us. We had to run for our lives. Old legends said the San Gabriel mountains were home to evil spirits. I never went back and I caution everyone to be extremely careful! Furthermore, a rattlesnake crawled into our picnic. He came from nowhere. He just snuck up on us.
Sorry about your friends.
probably from all the murders and bodies being dumped there over the years. i cant imagine how polluted the water must be from all the bathing, trash, urine, feces, and decomposing things.
I appreciate hearing your experience because I consider it a warning now. I was thinking about wanting to visit the river. But since it is haunted and evil spirits dwell there, I'm not taking the risk. Especially hearing about the falling rocks that can come out of no where.
I am 77 now. My mother lived in West Covina until she passed in 2006. I never went back after 1964. I used to drive past them. I would NEVER go there and zi warned others. I was looking online how many deaths were associated with the San Gabriel’s. There was a long list but it didn’t even include the deaths of my high school friends. One of them was going to marry Jay Johnstone, another classmate. He was just devestated. It was so close to graduation. Two others were hospitalized for months and came to graduation in wheelchairs. I forgot the name of the fourth passenger- isn’t that terrible. We were told they swerved to avoid a landslide. But when my friends and I were just standing in the river, we couldn’t see any cliffs, and suddenly these huge rocks just came out of nowhere, like straight over our heads. She never forgot it and neither did I. We didn’t even know there were reports of a. IG foot creature, which zi foubt. I don’t believe in Bigfoot. It was like someone was watching us. The rocks fell right between us. I have had strange things happen through out my life - enough to know this was an unnatural event. Further, there is nothing appealing about the area. It looks nice but it’s pretty rough. I get scared for people who go there. It’s hard to find recreational places to go in LA, I would just go to Santa Barbara or San Diego.
Been there many times and never seen anything like that. Probably safer than the city 😂
Go there now after 4th of July.
