@@brysonhanefeld76 that's definitely part of it, but I think the core cast of The Flash are decent to good actors, with the exception of the kid who played Wally. He was awful. But Joe, Caitlyn, Cisco, and Iris are all pretty good. The writing is just god awful, especially for Iris

And people end up getting hurt because he didn't stop the villain in a more efficient way (for example in season 1 barry kept running people out of the cold gun's way instead of just grabbing the gun and running snart to prison. Another example being when a nonspeedster disappears when barry isn't paying attention, he doesn't run around the area to find them even though he could and it's not like a nonspeedster can get that far in a short amount of time)

Thawn is such a clever but vain villain. He has a breakdown at the thought of someone replacing him as the evil in Barry's life, and as soon as barry figures out a clue on how to stop the new speedster, Thawn smiles while tearing up, almost as if he's thinking to himself that while he is the only one for Barry, he is almost proud in a twisted sort of way that Barry is the only one for him too.

Considering how long he’s been doing this back and forth with him and how well he knows him at this point it’s not a far stretch to say Barry knows how to get under Thawne’s skin just as well as Thawne gets under Barry’s. The one thing that has always allowed Barry to beat him was Thawne’s ego. His obsession with being better than him has gotten so bad it’s started to make him sloppy
He's been fighting thawne for years if barry knows anything about him it's that he's ego is he loves hate barry he wants to be the main rival in his life basically saying the new speedster may be a new better rival than him is one way to get him.

In reality barry isn't playing thawne at all here, Thawne is manipulating barry so that barry is gonna find this speedster and meet future innocent eobard thawne, and barry then creates reverse flash like reverse flash created barry. Its a self fulfilling prophecy, one cannot exist without the other because they both made each other.

Thawne really hates Barry. If you focus on this throughout the series, you might notice that Thawne may be smarter than being a sociopath. I think his hatred for Barry is about something different.

In most of these super villain cases its those capable of the most intense love that tend to succumb to the most intense levels of hatred from their hurt.
He arose to glory through horrendous acts. He killed his brother (later prevented his brother from being born) so he wouldn't be worried about law enforcement from family stopping him from researching the speed force, he was rejected by his crush so he killed her boyfriend and made her mute, he killed his parents when they learned about his Flash obsession, killed his professor when he tried to stop Thawne from attaining the speed force, and so much more.
Once he became the 25th century "heroic" scarlet speedster, Barry put him in his place after meeting him (at first they were friends but you know the rest).

? Where'd you get this idea from? The established Reverse Flash from the show? The DC Animated Cartoons? The comics?
*In the CW show,* he's ALWAYS been one to emphasize control. . . the puppet master, the one with the future insight and vast knowledge above all other speedsters. In the rare few instances where we've seen RF without control, he's behaved quite precisely like THIS (ex: Black Flash chasing him; being erased from the timeline in season 1; being erased from the timeline in DC's Legends of Tomorrow; etc). He panics. He becomes emotionally unhinged. He feels FEAR: something he's used to CAUSING, not receiving. Tom isn't the only one emphasizing these traits in RF's psychotic mentality. . . Matt Letscher also hits this right on the nail in DC'd Legends. Hell, even in S1 of the Flash when he first "loses" his speed.
*In the animated series,* we've seen Reverse Flash be egotistical and one step ahead of Barry throughout numerous points. He truly is a sadistic, twisted, egotistical psychopath that only wants to cause Barry pain. Yet, in the instance where Barry reset the timeline from Flashpoint, he became even more unhinged trying to stop him. . . until he caught a bullet with his face. Afterwards, where he survived his headshot, he descended even more into madness and *still* he could not bear the thought of losing to the Flash, ever.
*In the comics,* RF (Prof. Zoom) was consumed with not just the thought of destroying Barry, but REPLACING him. He wanted to BE Barry. He wanted Iris, and killed her when he couldn't have her. After his death and resurrection, he STILL could not bear the thought of Barry NOT being destroyed by Zoom's own hands, so he went through SO many lengths to f*ck with Barry's life.

From everything we know of the character, he is CONSUMED by thoughts of Barry. So, imagine if he had to live knowing he'd lost his speed, lost his ability to destroy or replace barry, lost his life, AND that he'd lost to BARRY ALLEN, the man he swore to kill and replace? Don't you think he'd be pretty emotional and unhinged too? Because Tom hits this right on the nail. The Reverse-Flash we're USED to seeing -the puppet master; the one with control- is gone. What we're left with is a shell of his former glory. He should NOT continue to appear calm and collected; he should appear unhinged and mental, as he does.
But of course, there's always the possibility he's faking and playing/buttering barry up.
And like someone else said. . .you can't predict sociopaths/psychopaths and how they might react [you can to some degree if you perform an extensive case study, but that's getting into psychology and science, not fictitious comic book characters].

The thing about this scene is that I find l interesting and haven’t seen the episode so I don’t know if this is a thing that is shown later everyone talks about how Barry has gotten to the point we’re he got answer out of Thawne but at the same time with our even trying Thawne still has something that Barry gave him that will help with a come back the knowledge that a new speedster was made recently which mean there is a chance to do it again and possibility of getting his speed back and Thawne being Thawne will find a way to make it happen.
