Yeah many reasons for not having children 1 can't afford them 2 enjoying single life too much/ not wanting to commit 3 holidays/ more time/ financially more secure are higher priorities, list goes on and on...

Less permanent jobs is the most important on your list imho. I’ve heard it described as “an inability to make a 30-year plan”. How many 23-year-olds can reasonably say they are in a job that pays well and they can do it for three decades? Each child is a bet on the future, and they are a minimum 20-25 years of investment. We just can’t plan that far ahead anymore with off-shoring and heavy competition (ie lots of expensive and long education) for the remaining cushy office jobs.
like any stupid maga, you forgot to add: single family homes are unaffordable healthcare is unaffordable higher education is unaffordable income inequality is more extreme than ever the middle class has almost been destroyed and why should lower classes slave away to produce more working class slaves for the 1% anyway?
I have lost faith in the effectiveness of governments and civil servants, regardless of their political affiliation. My disillusionment began during Tony Blair’s tenure, and I now see little reason to expect meaningful change. Consequently, I’ve chosen a different path from what was once considered the norm. I haven’t pursued marriage, I haven’t invested heavily in a career, or started a family. I don’t vote and contribute minimally to societal structures. In essence, I’ve opted out of the conventional lifestyle that previous generations took for granted, as I feel it is largely a fruitless endeavor. Why bother?
It’s interesting to see someone not get married and feel like they’ve chosen a “different path”. My wife and I got married in 2019 and we felt like we were *opting in* to an alternative lifestyle. Times do change, but it frightens me when I think marriage used to be the norm and now it’s becoming only a cultural memory for a significant portion of Millennials and Gen Z. I’m not sure how the UK is, but in the US parents used to pay for the wedding but now parents typically don’t. Support for marriage among the older generations is falling too. Birth rates will probably continue to crash at a quicker pace from here.
@@derek4412 Good afternoon, Support for wedding costs and buying a first home often depends on the financial means of one’s family, a situation that has always been true. Not amongst a certain demographic, from my observations. We are on course to be outnumbered in our own country, As is said, a country owned by those who occupy it.
Simple reason why people are not having children - cost! It is almost impossible to financially survive in this country due to the incompetence and corruption of successive governments. People can barely afford to heat their own houses in the Winter, even less consider having children. Oh, of course those on benefits can, payed for by other hardworking people, but those people who are paying for other’s kids cannot afford them at all! You could not make it up!!!
Never wanted kids as I knew I wouldn’t be up to the responsibility and it’s expensive. Plus mental health and post natal depression runs in my family. Since there’s lack of support from the NHS people don’t want kids. my cousin died during labour. that’s what made me not want to have children was seeing the lack of care given to my cousin during her labouring hours. do better uk.
Also there is woman and men out there that can't conceive who want a baby so badly which my sister was one of them 15+ years ago she had ectopic pregnancy eventually she met someone else got married now they are separated cos he wanted her to conceive naturally which she couldn't she wanted to go for IVF but he didn't want her to so now she's given up totally in wanting kids and I've decided in not having any myself cos I feel like u I wouldn't be up to the responsibility due to having a learning disability and being autistic and also the cost of bringing up a child.
Do you know that when you will be old someone else's child will wipe your butt and change your diaper? You better hope that elderly care will be better than child care.
