    I was skeptical but after doing this method of cleaning the seat belt on a 2006 Odyssey it now retracts all the way with no effort of having to feed it back in. This really works.

    A friend of mine who details cars will pull the seat belt all the way outside the vehicle and then shut the door and use a pressure washer to wash the seatbelt... works wonders...

    • @phartblossum
      @phartblossum 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The pressure washer is a great idea. I was thinking of a handheld Steam Cleaner, but even a basic, cold-water pressure washer would be faster than steam cleaning.

  • @daviderhahon
    @daviderhahon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah, Nice.
    One more tip.
    The anchor where the seat belt goes through (beside your shoulder) also accumulates some of the dirt on it.
    Get a soft brush and use that to apply some of the soapy water to the anchor and brush the dirt off.
    This will help it retract even better.

    I did this it helped soften the belt up alot but it was still not quite enough .Now I let the belt dry thoroughly and i came up with an idea .I got some baby power .I rub it on the belt from the top to bottom and rub it fairly well left some extra power on the belt and retracted it up and down so the extra power could saturate it inside the mechanism a little also .I pulled the belt up and down many times and then the belt started fully retracting once again .I tested it the next day and it worked fine still .the powder is not effected by the heat or cold which is good and it helps the belt stay slick as it allows the belt fabric to slide with much less friction which is the key enemy .Now the day will come when the spring that retracts it will lose its return tension altogether but thats down the road a long ways I hope. I vacuumed up the power and I was done .

    So how come in my ute the driver side belt works fine but the passenger side that is rarely used is the one that won’t retract well?

  • @EdgarRenje
    @EdgarRenje 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mysteriously, the seat belt on the passenger seat behind the driver in our 3.5 year old Mazda 2 suddenly didn't roll up, although this seat was almost never used and an inspection took place shortly before. Also the rubbing didn't help, so we had to change the roll - out of warranty, but luckily Mazda took over the costs on goodwill.
