      How about adding a warning about pretensioner seatbelts found in some cars. They have an explosive charge that can rip your fingers off, or worse, if you get it wrong.
      Loved the split PVC cleaner though, must try that.
      We hook the belts over the outside mirror on a nice day to let them dry.

      @Stambo agreed, plus [i] don't know where all the aorbags are. but [I'm] not sure [I] would want to grind dirt into the belt like that. ...Maybe for use after the water rinses clear... another vid suggested compressed air and dry lube on the tensioner.
      I have never seen belt care on TH-cam besides washing, And have sought intermittently for years 😐

    A two-fer when you consider the belt cleaning add-on video.
    Watching you take apart that retractor assembly reminded me of my childhood. My Dad’s attitude was look at it and see how was put together. Take note of any special bolts when disassembling. A human made it with logic, so use that logic to your advantage.
    That has stuck with me for years, although now is an old dude, I tend to be a little less adventuresome when it comes to automobile repairs.

    My ‘80 Mercedes 450SL has a sticking and locking issue. My older ‘75 Mercedes 450SEL is a-ok. I’ve been thinking about taking the SL’s apart to check it out. My husband’s Nissan truck has really nasty black dirt on the belts. It makes me want to take them out and throw them in the washing machine! His work crew would get food at 7-11 and nasty up the truck. Now it’s our personal vehicle. I’d rather drive my super clean Benzes.
    I love your ideas for carpet cleaning!! Thanks!! I can’t wait to do that. Kinda cold in MD right now.

    One of the things that makes seat belts slow is the grease and oil from peoples hands. This can make dirt stick to the belt causing the belt to retract slowly. Because the grease and oil (only) mainly gets on the section of belt that comes into contact with the person, you need only to treat this section. A way to do this is to add a few drops of dish washing liquid to very hot water in a saucepan, place the saucepan on the car seat that the belt is for, fully extend the belt and place a light clamp on the belt preventing it from retracting. Place the now floppy belt into the very soapy water and work the soapy water over the belt making sure it gets into the webbing. Let the belt sit over night. The belt should be clean by the following mourning after the soaking - dry off and allow the belt to retract. This should remove the grease, oil and dirt allowing the belt to retract quickly and smoothly...................The End.

    Working on a Honda Accord 2000 sedan and removed the retractor like you showed. Tried taking out the 3 pins from the side cover - see 3:27 - and the retractor spring went Ziiinnnng! So on a Honda, DON'T remove the brown cover!! I had to get another whole belt retractor assembly (the entire belt) from the junk yard. Your Super Clean works GREAT at cleaning dirty belts!! Soaked in 100% for an hour, then rinsed in water with the PVC Squeezer, then soaked again and rinsed. Man, that stuff does the job. Thanks for your help!

    I use Super Clean for cleaning everything. Just follow instructions to dilute or use full strength for what ever you are cleaning. It also is good for killing bad odors while cleaning. I mean you can add Oxyclean if you want, not sure if you can but I find just using Super Clean alone will clean and kill odors as the same time. BEST product on the market for getting the job done. Wish I could get paid for promoting it all the time. I tell people all the time.

    How do I get my belt to stop sticking like the brakes have been hit? Any time on my passenger side when you put the belt on, if you move the belt stops and retracts and sucks ya to the seat! You have to take it off, retract it all the way and then rebuckle, sometimes it works but most of the time you just stay sucked into the seat! Help!

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Siama Palkki this is where you have to take the retractor apart and lubricate and clean it or buy a new one, but usually, the dealership will fix it no matter the year and do it for free. thanks, mike
