    I legit could see this as an actual Black-Isle/Interplay era Pipboy, not a Bethesda Era because it's just so different from that but definitely if Fallout 3 was made by Interplay, I could see this being their pipboy

    The only thing I'd change is the wrist strap. As you may have noticed it's difficult to put on. I would use some kind of Velcro based solution. Also a Pi Zero would use less power and if you use the W version you'd have network/internet access.

      Maybe a different single-board computer all together. I know the Jetson Pro Mini is popular lately, probably could work in the ventilation/cooling system into the design. I'd be a power hungry beast though

    • @bobdole4694
      @bobdole4694 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Banana PI M2 Zero might also be a good option. Roughly same form factor as the Zero W but with a Quad Core 1.1ghz Allwinner CPU instead of the Pi zero's 1ghz single core.

    • @randycarter2001

      @@bobdole4694 This thing doesn't need blazing fast performance. You're not playing the actual game on it. Just using it for a remote display. The more of a power miser this is the better.

    The difference between a 2000 and a 3000 is the assembly, 2000s are modular this can be seen with the mk6 the radio and speaker module, holo reader module, radiation and input module, and a CPU module, this was represented in FO2 with the 2000 having addition all parts that could be added, the 3000s on the other hand are fully enclosed, all parts and pieces are contained in a solid brace, this made them less advanced as they couldn't be upgraded, but more durable

    place a piece of domed acrylic over top of the lcd and fill it with some kind of clear non-conductive fluid like 3m novek or silicone oil. it'll project the light to the surface of the domed plastic and give you most of the CRT aesthetic.

    It looks cool. A few tips though.. 30AWG Solid-core Kynar wire. It's often called Mod-wire since it's used for modchips. It's perfect for these tiny projects. This is in my Steel Battalion joystick. Just an example of how neat this Kynar wire is.

    Get multiple colors. I ran out of a few, so i had mostly red left.
    Try for a 5" screen and a narrower bezel? Also, if you use a larger screen, thinner bezels, and smaller wire and give yourself more room to work with..
    Add a Geiger counter.
    www.ebay.com/itm/273049840938
    And then add a 5v analog meter
    www.ebay.com/itm/152675816468
    And change the backdrop of the 5v meter to be more in line with the rad displays on a real pipboy. So as the rads go up, even a tiny bit, have the 5v meter needle/wiper go up considerably.
