This SUV program at PSA is a real success with the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross and Opel Grandland.
The 3 cars have their own personality for the exterior, interior and even driving while they are built on the same platform.
When you compare with the VW group and his lazy work with his Tiguan, Ateca and Karoq who are clones without personality it's shocking
I hope that PSA will continue the good work of differentiation on these next cars.

excellent review. I actually bought the 2lt diesel C5 aircross.Gone 1 stage further now towing a medium weight caravan .Best set up ever.love them both. Pulls really well

Hmmm.... I'm a big sedan fan (still have a C5 phase 2). I'm not at all taken by SUVs. Have to admit though, this one is definitely growing on me. I like it the more I see it. I like the emphasis on good old comfort rather than pretensious 'sportiness'. Well done Citroen.

I have had "sporty" cars when younger. I have had Citroen C5's for the past 19 years and find them ideal for our country roads (Australia). The rigid bumpy ride in the average car is very uncomfortable over long distances. The average motoring journalists seem to miss the point of the need of many new car buyers who want reliability and comfort. A very good assessment.

I also had/have Citroen Hydropneumatic cars (Xantia and now C5 X7 Tourer). I would never change it because of comfort. But when Citroen canceled Hydropneumatic suspension, I don't know what will be my next car. May be this one, but I'm afraid it will be not as comfortable as my C5...

Hi Allan. I have a mint 407 3.0 (72,000km) and a 3008 2.0hdi.., and feel the same way as yourself, and intending on a c5 3.0Hdi. Thoughts ? Can you recommend any other soft riding diesels, with larger rear legroom. Ta.
I believe the 3litre C5X7 is wonderful to drive but are difficult to find in Australia. The only other cars that come to mind are Jaguars. Not sure of their ride now most cars seem to be aligned to handling rather than ride comfort. A friend with a Merc. has low profile wheels and it rides like a cart. I'm afraid I haven't driven many cars over the past few years except for a loan Hyundi Sonata. Not in the same league as the C5. Allan @@harchihiarchi

Excellent review. I actually own a C5 Aircross, and love it; we traded in a 7-month old Suzuki Vitara for the C5 and the difference is remarkable.

@@ssc587 No, I love it. The only issue is a slight problem with the voice recognition function on the audio files. Other than that, it is a wonderful car.

@@ssc587 It's a seriously good car. We just returned from a month round Europe in it and the comfort levels, even on long journeys, was excellent. Petrol consumption was very good, too. I can't really fault it.
I just bought C5 Aircross with same equipment and engine. Love it so far. The only gripe I have is resolution of "360" cameras and slow infotainment loading. Other than that the car is wonderful on longer drives (even on 19inch wheels).

Please explain to me why you want a sporty stiff suspension set up on an SUV. Some people actually want comfort! This stiff suspension that is often fitted is pointless. One soon gets tired of it. And how many go tearing round corners ect where you might want a stiffer setting that then drives you man on all roads.
Its there just to get better car reviews from the reviewers. Nobody in real life likes that solution. But in clicking and liking them, it comes from all the "fans".

You're right. Cars that aren't actual sports cars should not try to be sports cars.

Whether you're a fan of French cars or not, you have to admit, they're always interesting.
It's great, that autonomous braking is becoming standard.

Used to have a big swiss dog. But nowadays as we know better we should take every dog out of the shelter no matter which breed and skip breeding poor new ones with generic disorders. Love for all 🐶 🐕! 🤗

Viewed one on Saturday. Drove the 1.5 auto diesel and found it sluggish in its gear changes. The ride was so smooth and the seats are so comfy. Going back next weekend to hopefully drive the 1.5 diesel manual. Spot on review though and was nice to drive the car after watching yours. As usual full in depth and interesting to watch

Great car, a soft suspension makes much more sense for a SUV, people who want something sporty should just get a wagon anyways.
Wagons are not sporty
@Rolly101 I opt to drive an actual sports car for sport driving. I would never buy a wagon. I couldn't imagine sitting in a dealer haggling and doing paperwork for hours, then spending years paying off a wagon. Slow, ugly, and handle like a shopping cart

Thomas, your English is amazing. One word. "Cush"ion. Rhymes with good or push, not with crush. Consumption of 6.7L/100 km is 41.6 mpg (British gallons).
This is really the best C5 aircross review!! for the first time someone has really done a very detailed review. For me it's no use anymore :) because will receive mine tomorrow ... but this review gave me a 100% good feeling of my choice and will be happy to go after it tomorow :) !! really good work!

Shame about the lack of legroom in the back. Approve of the soft ride - would be great on our unmaintained cart-track roads. Glad you touched upon the diesel/petrol keep-an-open-mind issue! At 37:06 what did you notice! This car has successfully found its own niche: non sporty. Very good driving part with excellent commentary and driving. Many thanks Thomas for your professional channel and your hard work.

The design is excellent. Makes the VW groups efforts boring. Build quality is improving all the time at PSA. Just need to bring out long range BEV's and then I will go back to PSA products
I think the packaging is clever. It's designed as a family car, flat floor, 3 rear equal abreast wide seating and at 6 foot, the child would be driving themselves, or soon to be. Other manufacturers should take note! Overall, it looks to be a well built, stylish, comfortable, safe, family friendly transporter. The only problem is resale, being a Citroen. Maybe DS will be Citroen's final form. Great review, Thank you Thomas!
That's a problem with all vehicles. Luxury vehicles in the higher bracket like A6, A7 etc and their Merc/BMW counterparts loose a lot of value as well, especially since most of them are not fully loaded specs.
@@cosmingosav Lancia Thesis was losing about 80-90% of initial value just after 5 years, while Honda CR-V only 30-40% within that time.
@@PiotrPilinko Lancia has a much much lower sale figure than the VAG group or PSA, same with alfa romeo. The d4 audi a8 can be found pretty cheap for less than 30,000 eur which is like what, 25% of its initial purchase, even less for the pre-facelift version.

This revieiw has made my mind up about getting this suv.One reason is the boot space as I have dogs and need the room,without a slopping back.Also like the seats and interior.I have got the old Peugeot 5008 at present,which I love.The new one is just to long for my parking area.
Is this any special version of the C5? I’vê tried one a month ago and indeed it has 3 separated seats in the back but only 2 seats had isofix. The one in the middle didn’t... I’ve looked into 3 diferent c5 and none had isofix in the middle!

Question, is this the best medium priced car for a family of 5, that comes as a PHEV? I drive a Touran today, but it is not easy to find a similar type car that has the phev option. ( PHEV/EV is a requirement for a company car where I work)

as for ride confort this should be standard in all brands, ho whant to drive on race track must order.
usually we drive 90% at low or medium speed so Citroen is correct.
i drove the new C4 Cactus and that was the best in terms of confort.
mercedes should try similar on their cars.
next year i will change my B class and maybe this will be my next car.

Testrit mee gedaan, en gelijk verkocht en gekocht...Ook de Peugeot 3008 en de Renault Scenic getest,....En deze steekt er echt bovenuit,...wat een genot om mee te rijden !.....Great review!

Peter, je hebt ongelooflijk gelijk. Ook mee gereden en ook gelijk verkocht! Wij zijn gegaan voor de 2,0 l Hdi is Shine versie - wat een dijk van een auto is dit. Rijdt vele klasses hoger dan je vermoedt. Iedereen die met me mee rijdt bevestigd dit. Hier gaat Citroen mee scoren. Thomas: great review, keep up the pace !

Hey Thomas, I heard it has comfort and refinement that can match much more expensive cars, what cars do you think has similar comfort? Would it be comparable to an E-class Mercedes or even a GLS?
I like it. And the new suspension idea. I'd rather not have those red accents though.
What do you recommend between the C5 Aircross and the Peugeot 3008?
It seems that it doesn't have 3 isofix in the back anymore..
Now if only Citroen was available in Canada. I truly miss my '69 DS 19 Palas. We have not had access to Citroen since '73 so I have not kept up with the vehicle. When you had to brake, is the brake the button variety of the Palas? That was a feature I loved. Also, do the headlights self level and turn with the steering in current iterations of the Citroen? I think I would still prefer a full SUV about the size of my Lincoln MKX just for space but even as comfortable as the MKX is the ride of a Citroen can't be matched for those of us that like to ride in our rocking chair.

Yes - try and get hold of a new Jimny with the auto-trans. That would be different. (That was another failing of the poor old Defender - there was never any proper transmission choice! The marketing people never really seemed to realise that during the many years of production).

17:20 you can lower the roof floor, here it's in the high position ;)
In the UK only the outer rear seats get Iosfix, also only halogens are available.
Just removed the panoramic sunroof as a standard option as well.
only a 4 star Euro Ncap rating as well which seems quite rare nowadays.

i have the new c3. did 500km trip to austria highway. i was not tired, seats and comfort is good. tempomat is nice gadget.
but a bit more sound insulation would not hurt though.
i understand it is a small car, not meant for highways. up to 110 consumption & wind noise is minimal.

I would love if you can do a series of videos whereby you showcase vehicles that are comfortable for tall customers like you and I (I am also 6ft 1in). I want a car that’s large enough but I am not interested in 3 rows of seating. Which cars do think fall in this category?
Indeed certain brands rather build stuff for taller people and some dont - i always mention in our reviews if the cars suits taller ppl :)

You can adjust the height of the boot floor. So you can fit much taller luggage.
press the little cylindrical button on the left of the steering wheel and after the tone ask the car what it can do, it will tell you how to set up everything verbally it understands language very well indeed I bought a non hybrid two days ago Friday 29/9/2022 and two days inside the car trying to learn all the functions its been a lot of fun so far, the Tom Tom Sat Nav is brilliant. the road speed limits displayed on the instrument binicle is also very good and the sound system is also very very good coping with bass frequencies very well, it certainly doesnt need upgrading. by the nway its a 1.5 diesel there is no 1.6 diesel in the range. Im 6ft 6 inches tall and I find the car very comfortable.

Very nice video. And a very nice vehicle. Unique, looks comfortable. With e better steering wheel than the Peugeot. Very good to have 3 rear seats, like really good family car. I like the PSA blindspot. I think it is a user preference. I really do not like the other ones that they light and blink and vibrate when there is even space to get in the spot, like in traffic. Also really nice start stop for a diesel. I'm not sure is the rain lauder or the start/stop is pleasingly refined for a diesel.

How do people find the "knobless" touch controls? Controls of such basic functions as cabin temperature and many more. I'm seriously considering to go for C5 Aircross but still wondering how I can live without simple knobs and switches. Please comment!
Always easier to control if you can really press or turn something
Its almost like this and the 5008 Peugeout was made in the same factory, side by side with some small differences. But i would go for the 5008 any day.
I don't like how the wipers leave a lot of the right side of the window not wiped. I also don't like how the right wiper wipes taller than the driver side so it always leaves a bobble of water there in the top centre of the windshield. They should have it like Mercedes where the passenger wiper is double hinged to prevent this or they should've kept the wiper action of the previous gen 3008.
Could you guys mention the assistance systems on the cars In future reviews. Like if it comes with blind spot monitoring, radar cruise control etc. Kind regards

Hi Tomas, congrats, this is an excellent review and very helpful indeed. I am interested in a new car and despite being quite different I am between C5 Aircross and Ford Focus Estate Turnier (saw your review a month ago about this one, too). Please share with me pros and cons of each one of the "contestents". FYI, we are a family of 5 and I am Ford Focus driver since 1999 (MKI now driving a 1.6 Ti-VCT MKII 2008 model). I tested the Kuga but found it rather "shaky" compared to my driving taste. Thanks in advance.

Like Samuel said it seems a little noisy inside with that set of engine.
Great design but a little risky on the segment despiste Citroën have teached us some lessons about risk turned in huge sales and emotional cars.
That cripled A Class was a great gag.

I think you would call this a subcompact in the US. It seems a bit smaller than the CR-V or RAV 4
I'm 1.90 and find the seats very comfortable.
Thomas, Hut ab. Das Review ist besser als das Auto. Ich bin etwas enttäuscht von Citroen auch wenn ich keine Sports Canon erwartet habe, ist das Auto einfach zu klein um so komfortabel ausgelegt zu sein.

On a note - normal jet fuel is basically diesel with anti-freeze addatives.
