- It's that time of year again for my annual State of the Collection (SOTC) update! In this final video for 2022, I share my current watch collection, discuss my favorite watches, why I love them so much, which pieces have stayed, and thoughts on how my perceptions and wearing habits have changed over this year. However, this SOTC is a little different from my videos in previous years. The number of watches I've had the honor and pleasure of co-designing continues to grow-almost into an entire watch collection of its own-so this year, for the first time I've decided to focus on the watches I've purchased myself and a few watches I've received as special occasion gifts from my loved ones. Why do these watches continue to be my "keepers" and which watches are potentially on the chopping block? How many strapmonster watches and tooltastic pieces remain in my collection? So much variety and a very unique collection. The natural flow of placing down and progressing to the next watch made it look like art. That backdrop and all the watches on top could be a wallpaper.

Cheers TGV, I bought a citizen nighthawk (blue angels version as I am from San Francisco and every year we would go to Fleet Week where the Blue Angels and other pilots fly overhead), and I love it. I admit I was not fond of the strap that the watch came on, but after putting on a ribbed nato I love it. Actually looks and feels like one of my best watches!

I have to say, having been watching The Urban Gentry since the early days, I would guess that if you sell that lovely Fortis Cosmonaute, you will regret it in the future, and being such a rare watch it won't be that easy to find another like it... My impression of your watches collection/style tastes are; lots of 80s love, watches from movies, meets Art Deco and vintage. I hope you add some more Omegas soon, that ck859 is perfect for the collection…

I've been a fan of the channel since 2016, but I actually discovered Holbens straps by chance through an eBay store. For the money you can't beat their quality. I've got at least 5 of their straps on different watches throughout my collection, different lug widths, colors, patterns, they're always great. Happy holidays TGV!

Love the 63 Accutron! I think it may have been me that asked you several years ago if you had a tuning fork watch on your wish list, then several months later you had the one in this video. Not trying to take any credit, but I'm a tuning fork watch collector. I have a bunch, including a rare Zenith Allegro with an ETA tuning fork movement. I also have other electromechanical's that are not tuning fork driven, but are instead transistor driven.
My absolutely favorite watch is my Wittnauer 9150 with exhibition back. The balance wheel itself has a ferrous material. The wheel is pulsed by a copper coil that resides under the wheel. Powered by the battery and induced by the transistors, the coil instantly/momentarily turns into an electromagnet at just the right time thus causing the balance to turn to and fro... hard! It doesn't tick so much as it bangs lock to lock. It's a riot and it's a beautifully high-vis movement that unlike the Accutron actually shows parts moving. It's amazing.
Oddly, due to my work, I no longer wear watches except on special occasions, so all my electromechanicals are sitting in my display case getting old. Let me know if you want to show any on your channel. I want them back tho! ⌚ : D
That tudor sub is stunning... so much more individual than having a classic Rolex sub.
I love how you show off how you're a real person with hobbies other than watches. You don't really see that on other channels

Man your collection is so diverse! I notice you have an eye for iconic pieces. I also enjoy spotting watches in movies and shows. For instance the Astra dive watch that Richard Dreyfuss wore in Jaws is on my radar and I can't ignore the Tag Heuer that Steve Mcqueen wore. I may or may have not butchered a few names...
