    When oil is dirty, you know it's doing it's job. Changing the oil after 20 hours is recommended by the owners manual. I'll only use synthetic oil in my pressure washer because Synthetic oil is much better for an air cooled motor. I read years ago that regular motor oil will turn to carbon when heated to 450 to 550 degrees, where synthetic motor oil can be heated to almost 1000 degrees without burning up, I know that the pressure washer will never get that hot, but I like the added fact that synthetic motor oil can take heat without damaging the oil. Thanks for the video.

      1 Quart of motor dumped into the ground will contaminate over a thousand gallons of water in the ground, so if anyone that lives near you has a well, they can thank you if the water they pump out of the ground makes them sick. Don't get caught by the EPA, there's a hefty fine for what you're doing. It's one of the reasons that engineers for motor technology is trying to make the oil change intervals longer, just to stop people that don't know or won't take the time to dispose of the oil properly. I bet you drink tap water too.

    I found that using an Icebreakers Ice Cubes gum box was perfect for draining the oil with no spillage. Set the unit on the end of the open bed of a truck, or some similar surface, and simply pour into the open top. Once the oil gets near the top of the gum container, dump it into something larger for final disposal. Takes a few tips of the machine, but it was simple enough.

      After being a mechanic on automobiles, air planes and anything with a motor, I've found that ALL of them when purchased usually come with an owners manual. If not, you can always used the internet to look up a free owners manual. Life would be so much easier if people would read them. When I worked on cars at a dealership, I couldn't get over how many people brought new cars in asked how to set the clock and radio stations. I opened the glove box took out the manual and highlighted the instructions for the owners. My service manager said don't do that, you don't want to make the owners look stupid. I said well they are. We didn't agree on too many things, that's why I quit after working 15 years to get two weeks vacation.

    Dip stick refill method is incorrect in video. Recommend you check the Owner’s Manual when refilling. Manual says to NOT screw dip stick in when checking oil level, but to just place it in the hole, pull out, and check. You will overfill the oil if you fully rethread the dip stick during refill. Manual warns against this.

Actually what I'm trying to figure out is how to unscrew the oil cap to check the oil since I just brought it home!!?? It will not turn to the left... It won't turn at all...I watched you unscrew the cap on your machine simply by turning it to the left, I didn't see you push down or anything like that...I wonder what the problem is!? I hate to force it, but I might have to? Please help if you can thanks, Annette

      @@robertgantry2118 I grabbed some plumbing fittings after taking the dipstick with me. No dice. I was looking at M sized metric fittings from pressure washers next, to make something. In the end it may be better just to use a suction pump to extract the old oil without tipping the washer over. It seems like it would have been easy for Honda to put a bottom drain for it but they did not. I also need to check the aftermarket drain hoses again and see if there is one made for it now. The washer just quit on me and I'm cleaning the carb, surprising since I've only used non-ethanol fuel.

    • @robertgantry2118
      @robertgantry2118 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FiveCentsPlease - Looks like maybe 18mm x 2.5mm thread pitch. Harbor Freight vacuum pump sucks it dry in seconds. You just need a glass jar with a water-tight lid, a drill, and a couple of fittings. An assortment of air brake fittings will work. I liberated the fittings I needed from work, where they were being held captive.

    • @robertgantry2118
      @robertgantry2118 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FiveCentsPlease - But by the time you spend all that time, effort, and money on vacuum pumps, drill presses, looking through fittings, you can also get a fluid extractor from Harbor Freight. They're pricey, but I'm sure it will save you time and aggravation in the long run. Pressure washer, lawn mower.... I cringe when I see people turn them on their side to get the oil out. I'm sure it's OK unless you have OCD like myself.

      Try searching a troubleshooting video. I wish I could help more. Try the basics. Spark plugs, air filter and or draining and adding fresh fuel. Odds are its a carburetor issue from sitting. Hope this helps but i can't say for sure.

      We didn't add fuel stabilizer to it and had trouble starting it. Once it cycled the old gas, we were OK. It took about 10 minutes but I had the engine set to on, gas set to open, and the start pin pulled. I had to keep the pressure gun pressed so it wouldn't build up pressure making it harder to pull. After it started a little, I pushed in the start pin. I had to do this 3 times before it stayed on.

      Also, if you have air in the water supply hose, that will cause stalling. What I do about THAT is to start the thing and just not let off the trigger until all the air has passed through.
